you have to go slow thru the water if you go fast like the did the water will come in the air intake into the motor n flood out the motor and if it is bad enough you will need to replace the motor

Exactly! Though I didn't know that I drove through it veeeery slowly earlier on... but when my husband drove... *sigh* What's done is done! And the insurance did have it fixed so...

Engine floored? What does that mean? I hope not "step on it" as the key is to go through it as slowly as possible so that no water gets splashed into the engine... which is what happened and just killed the car in our case!

Actually it's not as flooring it made the water splash over the car and into the engine. I went through a similar body of water earlier that day and taking it slow so the water stays outta the engine is the way to go...

hi how sad, look at my drive at home i am in wales this was 4 days before the big flood, video youtube/evidenceflood your car EEK no one tells you that if you gun the car through a flood it gets in the air intake and kills the engine in some cases. woha!

Eeek indeed! I drove through a flooded area slowly, earlier that day... seemed like the wise thing to do but hubby gunned through and... though neither of us even thought of killing the engine! Oy!
