I don't think bringing dead ideas into new music is unoriginal. With the current state of music being as bland as it is, I think it's one of the smartest possible things to do.

I'm also a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. I don't really produce, I just record live video and audio. Sometimes production just kills the feeling of a song. With ProTools especially.

I'll also give you a little more credibility in music for liking Radiohead but that's about all you'll get from me.
