@FictitiousMe no not really they have flat body's so they can get throught the dense plants .to get away from predators. Its where they live in the wild.
does not seem an Amazonian biotope, but an Asian biotope, you were wrong vegetation, scalar (in your case P.terophyllum Altum) enjoy broad-leaf plants such as Echinodorus, etc.
the setting looks really nice, whats the filtration system you use? can you use an under gravel filer with this sand? and how do you clean the tank, wouldn't siphoning remove some of the sand as well? (Soory about so many questions, I have only had bare cement tanks with power filters)
Admirable dimensions, congratulations. If you have a few of these fish in the tank, it's for them more than enough. Especially should have enough space for movement and the height of the water column.
would two pairs be ok? i have a big root , som im placing that in the middle of the aquarium so they could get two territories. with loads of plants. But they will still fight wont they?
Hi. Thanx for your comment. 40 cm in height is low for Scalare. But if you want to Scalare, I recommend the species of "Pterophyllum leopoldi". It is a smaller species.
And wich other? It is up to you. Maybe some Tetras, Corys, Microgeophagus, ...
Beautiful tank! It looks very natural.
Love the scalares with their red back.

It must be a pain in the ass for the angel fish to move around in that dense plantation. Nonetheless, nice tank.

Great tank but i have a feeling that the angels don't have enough room to swim. They look kinda traped.

There was Arcadia T5 4 x 54W with Arcadia PlantPro. Once a week I defecated substrate and changed 20% water.
thomazone 2 years ago
@thomazone you "defecated substrate" !?
Please explain.
pharyngealized 1 year ago
@pharyngealized sucked the fish shit out of the substrate
oflamemakero 1 year ago
@atenaglia ... you can put carbon in your filter. I have done that with two of my filters and still after 3 months it is clear without waterchanging.

Hey whats the gravel you have used, it looks beautiful
shahimz 2 years ago
Hi, thanx.
This is a classic silica sand with fraction to 1 mm.

my manacapurus is like 29 cm female and 30 cm male. is it ok for them to go in a 530 litres or should i be even bigger?

is that special zand?
cause myn look yellower, and do you get black spots on the sand?
jerune61 2 years ago
This is a classic silica sand. Black resp. brown spots are Akadama, which is released under the plants.
thomazone 2 years ago
All right, thx. I'd like to try to find that specie... And how many would you say it's ok?
JesusRiveraA 2 years ago
To start, I recommend 4-6 young fishes. It's better. Breeding pair will be selected between them over time and their number will be reduced. :)
thomazone 2 years ago
One of the best looking tanks on youtube. Wow!, just incredible. Do you inject co2?.
trini82 2 years ago
Thank you so much. :)
Yes, I have CO2 system. Keeps pH 6.3 when 27°C, GH 6°dH, KH 9°dH. Regulates the water using reverse osmosis
thomazone 2 years ago
Hi, congratualtions for your fish, they're wonderful.
One question, how many scalares can I put in a 29 gallons aquarium? It's 90x30x40 cm...
And wich other species would you recomend me to add? corydoras, paracheirodon, etc?
Thanks?
JesusRiveraA 2 years ago

isnt the heigh for aquariums important? i once saw in a petstore that fully growns angels was in a 30 cm heigh tank!!
isnt that evil? there was like 13 .
Thomas55Pham 2 years ago
The height of the water column is very important for high fish as the Pterophyllum or Symphysodon . There may be distortion
if the height is small.
