  • xD totally thought this would be a rap song

  • the fact that this song wasn't written by yo yo ma is suprising he has truly mastered this song

  • Now this is an amazing piece of music I could listen to it time and again over and over its just too bad I cant like (thumbs up) more than once :) if only all music could be more like this.......

  • this is greeeaattt.......

  • The Seinfeld commercial is the first one I've seen on youtube I actually watched

  • Emotional Rollercoaster

  • Most fav. song!

  • I wonder how often Ennio Morricone goes to bed at night with this tune in his head.

  • When I listen to this I feel my soul beating in time to to it and I feel like I can fly by the time it reaches the climax

  • 5 people have no taste in music!

  • keep the good work up.

  • for some reason Yo-Yo Ma's version of this soundtrack reminds me of other movies then just the western. some parts sounds like a scene from a mob movie situated in little italy whilst other parts have an almost asian sound reminding me of "house of flying daggers"

Awesome work of art, no matter how you listen to it...

  • i cried too, but it was through my penis, oh wait a sec..

  • I have no idea how you could actually dislike this, it makes no sense at all :/ absolutly confounded

  • @PenjiLowe94 Don't mind them; they're Justin Bieber/Lady Gaga fans.

  • "Ecstasy of Gold" is a magnificent, timeless song, that will no doubt be admired by generations to come. Thank you Ennio Morricone for creating such beautiful music. Long live your legacy!

  • It's not Metallica, it is Ennio Morricone.

I'm not call him "master" because he doesn't like it.

  • i love this song

  • deutschland uber alles !!

  • @fgtuh Über alles in der Welt!

  • MetallicA \m/

  • Yr mama too

  • I`m taking care of my frinds bird while shes vacationing and turning this on because he enjoys classical.

  • Oh my gosh, this is simply amazing. I can't even describe it in words...

  • has anyone listened to this on ecstacy?

  • le début est superbe et la fin est génial!

  • METALLICA !!!

  • @JoshBoyy1 METALLICA!!!

  • Peaceful yet Inspiring

  • Yo Mama.

  • I thought it said by "Yo Ma-Ma" lol

  • it rally brings it home at the end i love the good the bad and the ugly great mix of classical/western theme

  • 2:33...

    wow...

    absolutely powerful,..

the flutes and the cello blends in together, and WOW....

    beautiful..

  • I'm speechless....such an amazing piece played by one of the greatest musicians of all time

  • spell binding

  • The combination of Yo Yo Ma and the movie The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, is just awesome. I play cello myself, and this movie is great.

  • this would be great for a flyover

  • i pooted and screamed nipple when i heard this song

  • It's amazing that this and many other beautiful themes were created for "spahgetti westerns".

  • Many 'Spaghetti Westerns' are great, important, and revolutionary examples of film making and story telling... and some are flat out bad.

  • @hiflip57 The movie this was made for is a classic just like the song.

  • Right you are, my friend.

  • Great re-interpretation of Morricone's classic. Perfeccion!

  • HOLLY SHIT thats thats beautiful the world can en now that ive heard it thank you man

  • simply beautiful.

  • excellent

  • Huzzah, horray, hippe!

  • :'D

    -bow-

  • wondeful and elegant piece. thank you for sharing.

  • nice! thank you!

  • ...wow....

  • The one problem is that this version doesn't have the bells at the end.

    Otherwise, simply perfect.

  • Love it, my friend had the Metallica cover on his profile and I was sure I'd seen a Yo Yo Ma-Ennio Morricone cover album on Pandora so I looked it up and I was graced with this. Together, they are truly an epitome of talent. An amazing piece, much thanks goes out to both Yo Yo Ma and Morricone for this music.

  • Well the Metallica version sure wasn't as good as this one in my opinion to, but no need to call it trash. Cmon' man they had some good compositions in their day like The Unforgiven for example.

  • wow...amazing song

  • How interesting, Metallica covered ecstasy of gold and now Yo Yo Ma to and no matter how its done its still is turning out to be an awesome composition.Thank you Mr. Ma for the great personal touches that you added here, its truly my favorite version of the masterpiece created by Ennio Marricone.

  • Mr. Ma didn't add the great personal touches, Morricone did. He wrote this arrangement for cello with the genius cello part, Ma did a great job of performing it

  • This makes me want to pick up a colt peacemaker and start shooting.

  • I get tears of joy at 2:58

  • Western legend meets an Eastern master. Oh joy.

  • Mr. Yoyo Ma should make music for hospitals to heal the people!

  • totally agree cause it would!

  • @XEKOLIASTHS i know where you are comeing from my freind

  • @XEKOLIASTHS you are so true

  • brividi!

  • in what game did you conquer the world?

  • Comment removed

  • haha jackass 2 intro

  • Comment removed

  • This is what I would listen to if I were to conquer the world

  • Well I HAVE conquered the world, and yes, this IS what I listen too.

  • mexican standoff !

  • No, this is not from the standoff duel. So many people make this mistake, but that is a different song.

This is from when Tuco was running around the cemetary looking for Arch Stanton's gravestone.

  • wki says it is from the intro to the "Mexican standoff" at the end of the movie

  • Its from the Good, The Bad and The Ugly, one of the final scenes in the movie where Tuco comes across the vast war cemetery. It's an epic scene. The music matches the scene perfectly. The Mexican Standoff possibly refers to the previous movie, For a Few Dollars More, which is also an epic scene where the music works to perfection.

  • My Dixie wrecked.

  • wonderful..

  • This is EPIC!!!

  • I agree 100%

    :D

    Amazing!!!!!!!!

  • WONDERFUL....

  • 2:36

  • gooooooooooooooooood

  • zajebisty kawałek po prostu SUPER !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't believe there are rap references in this post. Ennio was far more prolific and held more talent in his pinky than any of us. Rediculous comments. This collaboration was a great rendition of Ecstacy, and the perfect tribute to a great composer that wasn't afraid to think outside of the box.

  • its not plagiaraizing period music is considered as art and openly expressing it in your own image is freedom of expression

  • It isn't plagiarism if he's openly covering Morricone, obviously. Look at the photo in the video.

  • i love this tune but for yoyoma...i think that first 30 second solo was useless...but no matter what it hits me to learn this song~

  • This music makes me smile, nice to hear a version without the vocals, although I think this recording could have been played with far more conviction.

  • Exactly. This version makes me feel like the performer is drowning me in lukewarm pee.

  • uh. nice way of putting it.

  • thats a ramiro barrera level metaphor right there

  • too much improvisation in the beginning imo, but very nice overall

  • Spectacular.. why would anyone listen to rap music? When we have such beautiful music like this.

  • Well Spirex,

different people like different things and have different ideas about beuaty and ugliness. For example:

I find beautiful both this music and also some music which qualifies as rap. I also find your question very ugly as it exhibits the thoughts of a closed mind and implies that rap cannot be beautiful along with this music. A true lover of music ought to understand that music brings people together and breaks down barriers...

  • True xxpattsxx, but keeping that it mind, lines like

    "i've got 99 problems, but a b*tch aint one",

"thats my girlfriend screaming in the trunk",

"from the window to the wall, all them....",

lines like that aren't about unity, there's about dominance.

early rap and hiphop was innovative. any potential for music rap had died with tupac a little over 10 years ago.

  • spirex I see your point of view when you express that some things leave something to be desired.i simply believe that it is important to be repsonsable when we say things.yin-yang is shallow its mindless part music for mindless partiers.shady is whiny and angsty for whiny angsy people...all bark and no bite...venting

99 problems was ice-t b4 it was jay-z..very early hardcore for the hardcore types.

if you dont like something dont listen but dont attack and dont question unless u want to know

  • Rap music has been taken control of by corporate interests who would like a degradation of our natural humanity - it's really more complicated than that. I appreciate the music, but mass-produced music occasionally makes me want to cringe.

  • theres still good rap/hip hop out there, just a lot harder to find now days.

  • The idea that rap is "beautiful music bringing people together" is just plain stupidity.

There's a difference between having an open mind and blind gullibility.

  • Listen to "A Tribe Called Quest" and tell me that there is not a sense of art and beauty in it. And while I can agree that any "rap" on the radio today is a gauranteed insult to music and the human soul itself, you shouldn't dismiss an entire genre of music just because of the mass-produced no talent hacks that we see popularized in rap media today.

  • that comment is actually kind of ironic, as Jay-Z uses this sample in his song "the Blueprint 2" and its actually very good

  • I listen to Classical, Hip Hop, I even have some Pavarotti on my ipod. You have to be able to appreciate all types of music, don't be close minded.

  • hell yeah, from metallica to Shubert baby.

  • BEAUTIFUL.

    which movie is it ?

i can't find the good, the bad, the ugly on imdb !

  • on imdb the title is in italian: Buono, il brutto, il cattivo., Il

  • This seriously gives me chills. Thank you.

  • great piece! great yo yo! great ennio!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

  • this is awesome! Thanks for posting!

  • Well...It's not 'Ecstasy FOR Gold' It's 'Ecstasy OF Gold'

  • you're right! updated!

  • i used to wait at a chinese gourmet restaurant in Arlington, and this album would loop every day for 12 hours. after a week i was sick of it, but now i miss it dearly. truly beautiful music, it arouses a deep sense of nostalgia.

  • I agree that it arouses a deep sense of nostalgia!

  • Beautiful, the things dreams are made of!

  • A delicatessen. Great version!!!

  • possibly my favourite piece of music of all time.

  • Outstanding.
