The Workers World Party was right, capitalism came back and installed a capitalist dictatorship. But the Workers World Party was Stalinist and supported the bureaucracy who ruled the USSR since 1924. Stalinism died but not communism. Unfortunately Boris Yeltsin would not bring power to the Soviet people, he gave power to capitalism.
Stalinism is death, Capitalism failed, long live Marxism.
COMMUNISM IS LIKE A BIG PRISON, CHINA AND NORTH KOREA ARE INFLUENCED BY U.S.S.R,THEY NEED TO DO THE SAME THING: THEY NEED TO ABANDON COMMUNISM 4-EVER!!!
@soccerruben1 i agree for north korea and there is signs that it is slowly happening but my friend china has not been communist for a while it's a state capatalist country now ever changing into a more free place, just give it time.
What workers do this so called Workers World Party think they represent. Soviet workers were exploited much more than western workers who can collectively bargain for better wages (something which Soviet citizens could not because the government controlled the unions). By supporting the coup, they supported the enslavement of the Soviet citizenry. But some people like these just can't be reasoned with.
Before the Russian Revolution in 1917 American Companies didn't own the Russian Economy. 1991 it would be new companies. Even during Communism in Soviet Union Pepsi invested in the Soviet Union but had restrictions put on that company.
that's right...it took a large powerful American company like McDonald's 14 years (1976-1990) to negotiate a deal that would allow McDonald's to enter the Soviet Union because the Soviets had so much red tape about who could supply beef, bread, vegetables, utilities, equipment, etc.
Doing business with the Soviets was a bureacratic nightmare....but the first McDonald's had lines of people in January 1990 waiting for a hamburger...why?
Worst tragedy of the 20th Century. Look at how much the standard of living has fell in the former Soviet Union. There is no difference between the USSR and freedom, democracy, liberty, and so forth, where it was lacking it was being created. Now there is no longer a major opposition to Capitalism and Neo-Liberalism. Tragedy.
The collapse of USSR is one of the best things happened, finally freedom for many of those countries which were occupied of Russia. Tho still many people in Russia still living in the old days which is so sad and brainwashing !
I wonder how much the U.S. helped push the Soviets over the edge of that cliff. BTW, corporations did come in to exploit the Russian people, now we have Putin.
At least the people of Russia and the former Soviet 'republics' aren't enslaved by the Politburo anymore, the Soviet Union was perhaps the most bloodthirsty state the world has ever seen (only Hitler's Third Reich came anywhere near it in terms of mass murder) and if you think Stalin was a more compassionate national leader than Vladimir Putin then you need your head examined.
The ultimate reason for the collapse of the soviet union was glasnost. When they stopped shoting people and starving them to death in gulags people rejected the tyranical Soviet state.
Harm inflicted on the USSR by the US includes a nuclear arms build up(costly for USSR to emulate), intentionally leaking deffective technology for soviet spies to steal leading to at least one exploded gas pipeline, and helping arm the taliban in Afghanistan when they were fighting the USSR.
@68kaspar yeah, totally agree with you. If you leave the country - you are moron and traitor. If you don't work - you parasite. No religion, no international, no freedom... Only big queues to shops and it leads to starve, absolutely stupid and strict laws and other shit...
@tymuras great said man =) tho there is still millions of idiots who want it back =( just look at china, they are still killing millions of their own every year =(
such bullshit repoting but to be expected from the USA. Many today living in the former SOVIET UNION know the mistake they made by letting these pigs take away their freedom for the hell they all live in now. Every former republic is a failed exploited state! Long live LENIN and STALIN!!!
It doesn't really matter perception is reality communism in China if I think so in any case left-wing totalitarianism whether it be National Socialism, Socialism, Liberalism or Communism are all dreaded cancerous ideologies thank God or whoever we may never have to live under them again
Corporations and governments aren't true capitalist elements. Check out "For a New Liberty" by Murray Rothbard and "The Market for Liberty" by the Tannahills. They are both available in audiobook form with a quick search from Google.
Exactly. Corporations are state entities of limited liability and personhood. By the way Rothbard is awesome. Anyone that is interested in liberty should take a look at anarchism whether free market or socialist. The US is not a free market system of social liberty and the USSR was not a free socialist society. These were both and are authoritarian systems.
The funny thing is that 90% of the people in this video who are so enthusiastic about moldova's independence have regreted already. They believed that as soon as they become independent of USSR their life would be as good as in the US movies. Look at Moldova now. The country is striken with poverty. There is huge unemployment and no clear understanding of what to do. People have to go abroad and very often become slaves. But they were so euphoric back then!!! The irony of life.
The collaspe of the Soviet Union is a good thing if Lenin still alive he'll have wanted to crush the fake communism and evil surrounding it now switching to Yeltsin people supported him cause he brought to russia and other SSR states but later he dissapoints russians of his shock therapy because he took advice of american experts which devastate russians economy throughout much of his presidency remember russia is not USA even in terms of economy.
These films are brilliant! I was working in a remote area of Australia all of August 1991 with no TV and no Radio so I missed all this. I now live in Latvia for 6 years and I have missed this common knowledge.
Fuck the Workers World Party
(I was reluctant to even capitalise their name.)
