Recently downloaded both Stamina and Amphetype. Stamina is loads of fun and the one I've used most. I had to upload another music file (which is free) as the music it came with drove me potty; love the sounds. Imported a text file. Tried Amphetype but found it confusing to use. Will try it more though. I prefer to switch the keyboard display off - distracting. Beginners should leave them on.

Rapid Typing - It is a great program to learn touch typing and beats many commercial / shareware

Believe it or not it was the only program that kept me from switching earlier completely to Linux , but to my delight I have found that can be installed and executed without problems in (X)Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 using Wine.

Typing web is the best web site for touch typing. Before, I used to hunt and peck. My accuracy was seventy five percent and my speed was seventeen wpm. Now after two weeks of using typing web, I type thirty two wpm with a ninety five percent accuracy. Typing web ftw...

Actually you can type even faster!!.. Mine's gone up to 75wpm ^_^ .... Just practise practise practise!!!
