  • This should be the anthem of the EU^^

    it's amazing^^

  • @Taiko265 in a perfect EU it would ;)

  • the pronunciation is correct, more or less, since this is a late first century text when language had changed and sounded like modern Greek (any way we don't even know how classical Greek was pronounced)--the New Testament contains the earliest texts in modern Greek pronunciation--great music from a great film....

  • Wonderful composition ,lyrics and performance!! Of course the meaning could be expressed in any language but Greek is unique. Besides I think it is dedicated to Greece. Thank you !!

  • outastnading

  • If only they could get some1 greek to sing it. maybe he would have got a single stress right!...

  • @JT112358 you're right just a GREEK could give us the ancient Greek language as to have the theme remains amazing

  • @wilrk Children only forget but cannot Forgive unless they are special kids.True Forgiveness is not possible without True Wisdom which is nothing but Understanding. The Hindu word from Vedas for Father(not Son), Allah etc is 'Sat-Chit-Ananda'(Truth-Existence-Bliss).Sat-Chit-Ananda is Eternal i.e without time, space and acausual meaning cannot be talked about or understood.Everything else is only emotion and hence will fade away.Emotions belong to the mind and the song is a movie feel-good.

  • Very touching song.. makes me cry... And the arrangement of the orchestra is Genius!!! Hail Preisner!!

  • The melody is really amazing !!!!!!!! But the singer/s are not Greek/s and they sounds very strange ...... But I am very proud to be Greek and I am very proud that those singer/s accepted to sing in ancient Greek language with many difficult words.

  • Paradox: Greek or Latin are the tongues which an european anthem should be written in, but at now, Greece is about leaving the European Union. It's time of building the Europe of the Countries, OF THE CITIZENS, of the people, not of the financial all-counsuming. Long life to a new Europe with no corrupt politicians!

  • This song is WRONG.Knowledge and Love are synonymous. One cannot forgive without experience.Experience is nothing but knowledge, i.e knowledge of failure and success, sin and righteousness etc.Forgive is the same as Love.So Knowledge and Love are synonymous. The song says Knowledge will fade away but not Love.Love is not apart from Knowledge.

  • @Showpick Children have absolutely no experience in the world, yet they can forgive. Forgiveness can stem from love, but it is not love because it's a pardon of an offense; you can certainly love someone but never forgive them for something or you can forgive someone and not love them. Also, experience is not knowledge, it is wisdom. And love is not synonymous with wisdom (nor knowledge, for that matter), but love does work together with wisdom and/or knowledge.

  • @Showpick

of course it is WRONG...it is church talk!.....lol....they don't want you to KNOW, they just want you to LOVE (throwing money on the church plate going around!) :)

....however I have to agree with the song saying that Knowledge will fade away....IF YOU DESTROY IT (aha!)....St. Paul had a point!.....

....it is a marvelous piece of music anyway....

  • Πω πω...Και δεν ήξερα ότι υπάρχει κάτι τόσο μαγικό...Ευχαριστούμε...

  • πολύ ωραίο κλιπ ...

  • Thanks for this.Love Preisner and Kieslowski. Also makes me happy being a Christian. Saint Paul is more than genius.

  • Is it Greek? Latin would be nice too. Anthem for Europe should be in Greek or Latin. Wait let's do it in both languages!

  • @Boromir33

It is in ancient greek. But the theme is taken from the Letter to CORINTHIANS-Holy Scriptures (a part of it),

    St. Paul's words about Love.

  • @dounia72 The lyrics might be in Ancient Greek (they certainly look so) but they are pronounced according to Modern Greek phonology, which is a pity 'cause I would've loved to hear them the way people spoke when they were written.

  • @Boromir33 Europe's anthem should be in all languages, not only in Greek and Latin, because even in the ancient times there were thousands of languages spoken in Europe. You can't leave them out! It wouldn't be fair.

  • @TrippyHopper All ya need to remember is this: just because you can doesn't mean you should.

  • @Boromir33 Α Greek can easily understand the ancient greek language. That is the magic...

  • I've always loved this piece of music, never understood what it was about though , thank you it's beautiful

  • Thank you so much for your comments!

  • Amazing, greetings from Greece... καταπληκτικό!

  • Superrrrrrrrrr

  • I've loved this piece since I was 15. Thank you so much for the translation :)

  • Amazing !

  • Greetings from Greece & Albania

  • molto bello, grazie!

  • Thumbs up if you think THIS should be the anthem of Europe instead of Ode to Joy

  • it's one of the verses in the New Testament

  • Piękny film, wspaniała muzyka Zbigniewa Preisnera .Obie wersje wokalne najwyższych lotów: w wykonaniu Beaty Rybotyckiej (powyżej) oraz Elżbiety Towarnickiej.

  • let me ask a question, why is this song called 'Song for the unification of Europe' while the lyrics have nothing to do with Europe at all?

  • @ltmatt90 Think about it, think about what unites Europe.

  • @MaximusProteus You mean love? but there are a lot of more aspects that make a hundred coutries on a continent unified than love only don't you agree?

  • @ltmatt90 ..."faith, hope and love... but the greatest of these is love"...

I agree, the 'other' thing is for example culture, including the legacy of Latin and Greek civilisation, christianity.... Besides, it`s not a song 'about' unification, but FOR unification.

It`s not about some paper signed by few politicians, it`s MUCH more.

  • I guess it has to do with the film's plot. This song was made to be played at the unification of Europe concert. But it might also to do with the movie's connection between freedom and love.

  • @Waismuth what film?

  • the Blue from Krzysztof Kieslowski's Tri-Colours

  • I love this music, but now I understand the lyric. Thanks very much for translate!

  • Thank you very much!

  • @rattlecap Lyrics are coming from the letters Apostole Paule send to the Korintians. Τhis is included in the first one.

  • @gtombras yes, now I know. I know this Bible words from Paulus. But first I have hear this music in " three colors: blue" . And I can not speak Greek, so I had not understand this important message. SoI'm very happy for translation.

  • Wonderful! And I loved Three Colours: Blue. Thank you.

  • I also loved this movie.. Maybe one of my favorites. It is a poem.. Thank you!
