The video all together isn't bad. He actually told the story pretty accurately(according to books I've read anyway). I just don't agree with the title, although I do understand what he means. @Rsaint17 First of all the yellow fever killed more French than the rebellious slaves did and as I stated before I don't believe that the US defeated the British nor did DR defeat the French or Spain.Being able to repel an invader is a great feat but it does not mean that FRANCE,ENGLAND or SPAIN were defeated only one of their armies because if it was FRANCE vs West African slaves France would have annihilated them but France was fighting throughout the world.

@pepe0801 I know the DR freed itself and i respect that. During hatian rule our country did a lot of brutal things but i believe thats what happens when you have two different cultures on one island. The Haitians felt warlike superiority and took the whole island, can you blame them. I just read up about palo hincado for the first time and i was very impressed but if you acknowledge this battle why dont you recognize haitians beating the french?

@Rsaint17 I think we are on the same page we just have different nuanced views of the same events .Haitian history has been a tragedy mainly for the Haitians but the occupation and subsequent invasions brought the Haitian problem to people that had nothing to do with the French and that warlike "superiority" was only an aggression against a much smaller ,culturally different and pretty defenseless society yet the truth is that after their independence from Haiti every Haitian army

Eliz,I know all Haitians are not poor ,I have been to PP and Jacmel but even in the poorest countries some people live well but the reality is that the overwhelming majority live in inhuman conditions.
I truly wish Haiti would get it's act together for the sake of the children but to improve would take humility ,hard work and lots of money so the realistic chances are slim to none.
BTW Haiti never beat France ,It beat one out of many French armies worldwide.If France had sent it's

The main problem in Haiti is the people's attitudes and culture and that is what needs to be changed otherwise nothing will ever change.

They mostly show Port au Prince, the capital which is actually the poorest city...watching this kind of makes me laugh because my father told me the history of Haiti and left out most these details and only mentioned Haiti kicking Frances ass xD

The video all together isn't bad. He actually told the story pretty accurately(according to books I've read anyway). I just don't agree with the title, although I do understand what he means. He means "Why is Haiti in such horrible condition today" but "Why does Haiti Suck" has more shock value, and it's a common term that we use today. But I do agree he would receive less criticism if he changed the title to something like "Whats wrong with Haiti"
