Hello there, I've done everything according to the explanation as you said on this video, when I click "play final fantasy 8" the first part goes nicely, but then it gets to a trailer with grey images, I waited, but then it starts the trailer over again, it doesn't go on the red screen with "new game or credits". @myname315 mate i find out :P to reset the game and return to the main menu where you can start a new game or load a different save game you just press anywhere on the field map or the world map (but not in the menu or in a fight) Ctrl+R. If you want to quit the game and back to windows just press Ctrl+Q instead. ;)
@G4sz Easy task man, you must get power ISO with serial and username from : ThePirateBay (if u dont have it already). Search for "Power ISO cracked"
Then, open power ISO -> click on the "open" icon -> search for disc 2 and open it, that will pop in power ISO this elements: "DISK2.PAK, DISK2, FIELD .FI, FIELD .FL., FIELD .FS" -> just erase de space between FIELD files and the dot. Same thing for DISK 3 and 4
@G4sz Nice, happy for you ^^ if u ever get this error : "FF8.exe stop running" just reboot your pc and it would stop. I get that error very often, so SAVE your game a LOT xD
Great guide, but missleading title imo, as soon as you get to Disc 2 you have to buy PowerISO. The title says "For free". PowerISO costs almost as much as the game :). No1 but me would be happier if you proved me wrong and showed a way how to continue without PowerISO license.
Alright- I got Final Fantasy 8 off ThePirateBay a while ago, and I think everything's together, but I appear to be lacking the part you brought up at 2:57, where you mentioned the install disc called "ff8install." It doesn't show up anywhere on my computer. Do you think I got an incomplete package somehow?
Also if you dont want to grab power dvd from there google and install Daemon tools lite it allows you to create a virtual CD drive and its a free program

in 8texture palette failure all you need to do is right click the icon of ff8 and go to properties. go to the compatibility tab and put it on windows 98/windows me

tried another torrent, did as you said and when I say 'open containing folder' all I see is a single iso file- there is no 'setup' option. This happens with every download I try.

go to computer start menu and choose run type regedit then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then software then square soft then final fantasy then 1.00 and then graphics drive and change it to whatever drive your power iso calls itself

I'm really stuck... I've followed all the instructions given and did exactly what you showed, but when I start the game it always says insert disc 1... I really want to play this game but I can't figure out what the problem is.
Hey I figured out how to get it to work on my laptop. This is how I got it to work: install the game and change the datadrive to whatever drive you are going to mount the disc file/iso to. After changing the datadrive, you have to go to computer and select and right click the drive that you are going to use and select "mount image to drive" or something similar to that and then go and find the disc file and mount it on the drive. After that, run FF8 as administrator- it should work.
The only solution I have for that is to start task manager and exit out of FF8. To do that click and hold Ctrl, Alt, and Delete at the same time if you don't know how to already.
Umm, How do you mount it?? I right click it, but i don't see the powerISO icon or name >_> What do i do? My computer is modern and not cr@p or anything :p
@MangMang125 happened to me too man calm down i know how to fix it. Do the Setup again and read it more carefully for once. I did and i found my mistakes and when i finished with setup the game was up and running. Hope this helped. :)

after that click disc 2 and rename all files with space on it....and then save it..
same with the rest of other disc...

Hi there, I have been playing the game and have just got to the end of disk 1... I was obviously prompted to insert disk 2 but I have no idea how to go about doing this :( I have the game installed on my D drive. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Same problem with @hendryroc.
It says "Please insert the CD" & "Wrong disk".
I mounted the cd 2 at the same place as I mounted the previous cd 1.
Please help~ >.<

check 'Run as admin box'

ALL OF THIS SHOULD BE CONTAINED IN A README AS PART OF THE TORRENT. come on, this is WAY too complicated and long-winded. I have now uninstalled and deleted any trace of this FF8 version as it was one of the most incomplete PC game torrents i have ever installed.
AM really disappointed Soraiku2002, if you need to make two (10 min) videos, dont you think this is a bit much? especialy when it sTILL doesnt work after following your instructions!!! "Insert Disc One""??!!!! TOTAL B-S.

ah forget my comment guys iv'e sorted it now ^^ just use power iso to burn to a cd but do use a DVD-RW had to go buy some today just for it. i have also gone and used it on my friend's pc with disk 2-4 where people are having problem's yep i burned the files to a cd went on half way through and still work's like a dream. hope other people burn the file for it to work ^^

I just finished getting stabbed by those ice crystals at the end of disk 1 but when i mount disk 2 to my dvd/cd drive, and run the game with my save file, it crashes. Do you have a solution? I reinstalled already but didnt work

I installed the game and everything worked fine. Instead of mounting, I burned the .ISO disc I needed when I got to the next disc. Now, I'm on disc 3 and I do not remember how I burned it. I burn it and/or mount it and the automatic disc name is numbers. What I do is load the .ISO on to poweriso and burn/mount it. I do small variations of this (i.e. renaming the end product) but nothing is working. Mounted: it doesn't recognize and burned: recognizes but the game shuts down. Please help!

hey doods try these fixes doods
1>graphical error
solved in configuration menu
2> disc read error (first disc)
go to computer start menu and choose run type regedit then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then software then square soft then final fantasy then 1.00 and then graphics drive and change it to whatever drive your power iso calls itself
3>disc read error (discs 2-4)
load the files through power iso (not mount) and change the names to have no spaces in the filenames

ok i get backgrounds with line a black blocks
it is the only texture that seems effected
note i mean regular backgrounds not battle backgrounds
i will test those when this issue is resolved
otherwise working brilliant so far

wow...it wasnt until i followed the setup step (4:08) that i realized i got 8 and 9 mixed up...i thought 9 was Squall's story and 8 was ... erm ... i think it had vivi in it? YAY I'm THAT much more happier now...and thanks for this vid...i was clueless without it

@WithinSpirits u mount it and it wont still run?? try to open the disc2 in PowerIso and if ders a space in the file thtsomething like this FIeLD . LD u nid to rename it and delete the space nid to do it in all the file tht have like tht.

to those who got a problem in opening disc 2 to 4 just follow the tips of pkingoodog11 and u cant do it unless u got registered Poweriso so search in youtube (Get PowerISO 4.4 for free with KeyGen)ull see in there^^

Hey I figured out how to get it to work on my laptop. This is how I got it to work: install the game and change the datadrive to whatever drive you are going to mount the disc file/iso to. After changing the datadrive, you have to go to computer and select and right click the drive that you are going to use and select "mount image to drive" or something similar to that and then go and find the disc file and mount it on the drive. After that, run FF8 as administrator- it should work.

The only solution I have for that is to start task manager and exit out of FF8. To do that click and hold Ctrl, Alt, and Delete at the same time if you don't know how to already.

@MangMang125 happened to me too man calm down i know how to fix it. Do the Setup again and read it more carefully for once. I did and i found my mistakes and when i finished with setup the game was up and running. Hope this helped. :)
