Im a beginner and I would like to make a hat. I understand how to do the different stitches, but am having difficulty reading patterns. I got a pattern for the hat but cannot tell if it is "concentric circles" with slip stitch to join or just a spiral all the way around. If I am crocheting in the round, is it just implied to chain one (or two for dc) at the beginning then slip stitch to join at the end? or does it HAVE TO say it in the pattern? Thank you for the help.
