  • Haha your from Vermont...as am I

  • where could i get a turbo like that

  • @243generallee Search K03 and KO3 on eBay. The ones I use fit Audi/VW. Also search KKK brand (pronounced three kay) to get the German made OEM version (but much more money)

  • no oil for the turbo?

  • @AKAtheA Read all the comments. All answers are there.

  • what kind of turbo did you use

  • @1224steve Originally, a K03 model (KKK or "three K" german brand) from an Audi. There is a new one on there now. It is oil and water cooled.

  • @jacebigelow its ironic that its KKK just saying :P

  • This looks cool, I'd like to try something similar in a 6 wheeler I'm rebuilding. Have you finished the intake system yet? How does the wastegate work? Will any K03 turbo off of eBay work? I'd also like to know how you set up the oiling system for it. Did you have to do any carb work or did work OK stock?

  • @Heldowyn Intake is now connected w/a metal bellows flex pipe. The wastegate held shut w/ a heavy spring. Yes, you can use any K03, i have a new one on there right now in fact. For oil pump, I'm using a Shureflow electric diaphragm pump, filter, oil cooler, & an oil tank that i built. It's mounted below the turbo. For the carb, it's was pretty well sealed up, there are no vents to the outside. For jetting, i have not fully tuned it yet, have an o2 sensor that will be used for tuning.

  • ur killin the turbo!!!! by running it without oil.....

  • @MrBigDaddyKush It was an old Audi turbo that I didn't care too much about anyway. I added some oil to the turbo's oil feed, & only spooled it a few times (no load). This test was to see if the 725cc engine would even spool a turbo. I didn't want to put a lot of money & effort into this project until I knew it would work. I have a brand new turbo on it now with it's own filtered oil feed system, it's also water cooled, coolant with KX85 radiator, Bosch coolant pump, banjo fittings & lines.

  • more rpm this sucks

  • @persson882 I so deeply apologize. Looks like you found the dislike button !

  • sounds like its gonna work great!

  • okay it sounds all right

  • How did you do that

  • @simonkruis The video shows the freshly welded exhaust manifold. I made it from 1" metal pipe, cut into angled sections, and welded to form a header pipe (up-pipe) to the turbo. I'm still working in this week by week believe it or not.

  • Any updates? i have the same turbo but its a different model but still a K03. Im thinking of doing the same thing except with a single cylinder engine.

  • @30GB I need to make a new video my friend. I have a brand new K03 from eBay, metal oil tank mounted under the turbo, nice welded down-pipe, exhaust is finished, coolant fittings for the turbo, ShurFlo oil pump, oil cooler, and Bosch coolant pump, and radiator from a KX85. I dont think i will need an intercooler, but i have to plumb the compressor outlet to the carb. Also, i have a Bosch O2 sensor & Gauge kit, so that i can see if I am running too lean under full boost.

  • That turbo should do, the engine is big enough for it!

  • @MrTpengineer I will have to send you the link to a new updated video when i get around to making one...

  • @jacebigelow Thanks :)

  • Nice. A K03 turbo from a 1.8T in a B5 VW or Audi

  • @fopeano A K03, from an A4, you are correct ! I have a new one on there now, but it's a clone :/ .

  • Comment removed

  • it is not even hooked up to the carb you tit but it still sounds cool so i like

  • Aernt you supposed to have a oil and cooling line to Turbos? (dont know much bout turbos, I prefer superchagers)

  • @Motorfordtoyota Yes, you are correct, but they are not shown in this "First Test" video. This was an old turbo and I just wanted to see if my custom exhaust header (and the engine) would make it spool up before i exerted any more time, energy, and money into the project. Currently there is a new turbo on there with oil feed line, drain, drain tank, electric ShurFlo oil pump, filter, and cooler. It's put away for the season.

  • @jacebigelow Dude you shouldn't have even replied to that, you gave him the answer to his question at the beginning of the video.

  • I have done a bit of reasearch on mounting a turbo on a carb fed engine before. And from all of the online sources I have read is that the carb should be in front of the turbo, and not behind it.

  • @jaredsgarage Thank you. That would be called a "draw thru" system vs. a "blow thru" system. I worked more on this project this past fall, but no new video footage (sorry) It's parked for winter now. Onto other things. Have a new 16 HP engine to replace the 8HP one on my snowblower. Will try to capture little footage clips of that build. Priorities ! Cheers

  • @jacebigelow Thanks dude I would definatly be interested. Which system do you think works the best?

  • @jaredsgarage blow through is more common

  • hey where do u live your listening to the same raido station i do

  • mow like u have never mowed before!

  • @danthemanzizzle I gotta mow every 4 days... but I use my other tractor. No time for this project right now.. Someday ! :)

  • Wow. That is very impressive! Got any updates?

  • @CSAKvids Thank you. Nothing on video. Currently building a stand-alone turbo oil system for it. Not using the same engine's oil for this turbo. Engine takes SAE30, and turbo is going to get a thinner, fully synthetic oil, it's own res, cooler, 12VDC pump, and filter. Need to finish headers and get them powder coated in high temp black. O2 sensor will go in downpipe so i can monitor the fuel ratio, and re-jet properly.

  • very cool, going to sub so I can see how far you take this :)/

  • @Wopadas - should have another video soon, with the updates. New turbo, downpipe, and stand-alone 12VDC oil system.

  • i love this vid dude but i think you should plug the exhaust on to bottom so you can hear that turbo a bit better looking foward to seeing it finished im about to start somthing like this myself

  • Thank you for your comment. My next step is EXACTLY what you described. Cut the bottom off that "center post merge tube" , and weld a cap & support mount inder there. I had spent the whole entire NIGHT working on it, and by morning, just wanted to see if it would spool; out came the video camera for proof :) I can't wait to get started on it again now that winter is over... got lots of new parts over the winter, for oil, and also an AEM Air/Fuel ratio gauge to monitor mixture under boost....

  • verry funny with the wether man talking in the back ground

  • The truck's radio was on. Hope to get this machine out of the barn soon, and get back to working on it. I collected more parts over the winter. I may even buy a brand new turbo...

  • How's it gonna get oil?

  • Remove the allen plug where the oil cooler would have gone, then install a 1/8" NPT to -4AN fitting, and then to a braided hose, and to the turbo, which is a -4AN-M12x1.5 thread.

  • weare can i get a small turbo like that

  • Search eBay for K03 or KO3 turbo. These are common on Audi's and VW's. The one here is a K03 made by KKK (three k). Generic ones can be had for about $200 plus shipping. PM me if you need direct links. -Jace.

  • but the thing is does it give it more power

  • I dont know yet. It's not done yet.

  • i think u need to mod the Irish's to that so it can mow easier!
