My dad had a philosophy, that if you got a kid involved with music and sports that he/she does not have time to get into trouble!!! Smart man, my father!!! I started playing at 6 y.o., and I love music. I loved trying to play before I could. My son is an incredible drummer that started at 5 y.o. So why is this wrong again??? I saw a comment earlier......shut up and enjoy the music from these amazing kids!!!

Are you saying these children were forced beyond their wishes or were forced with threats to become well studied and accomplished in music at this early age? They are not staring at the audience with blank faces. These children are enjoying their accomplishments and the beautiful music they are performing. If they are performing under duress, there is no indication. I have no insight of North Korean life but I have Korean friends who have never mentioned any thing of the sort. I am listening.

@oldpython I'm sure your friends came from South Korea. In order to get out of North Korea you have to literally escape. If you asked them about it they would more than likely have a lot of insight on the subject. I'm guessing that their smiles are trained. To put it into perspective for you a man and his entire family were thrown into a prison camp for accidentally sitting on a picture of their "president" kim jong il. Books are widely available of first hand accounts of escapees.
