Labour MEP's ! lol bunch of failed morons more like, then I read today Gordon Brown was being mooted for a top job at the IMF???? The man is economically and financially ignorant, who in the right mind would suggest an appointment?
The greatest reason that EU supporters seem capable of making for Britain staying in The EU seems to be based largely on our inadequacy in Britain to stand alone due to the MASSIVE and malign damage membership has already done to Britain.
If someone deliberately and sequentially cuts your fingers is it wise to remain as they cut your throat?
Leave-The-EU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE membership costs £48M a day!!
YOUR Politicians and Civil servants have betrayed YOU.
@Greg260146 The E.U. needs very much reformed in almost all areas, but to say Britain should have no part in a union of Europe is ridiculous and smacks of "Little Englanders" who think Britain still has an empire.
@matrix4022 I do not agree - Britain derives zero from this vile, centralised, undemocratic, dishonest and utterly corrupt scam.
The EU offers NOTHING but malign over regulation, profligacy and huge bribes for the Massively Expensive Parasites that act to prostitute their countries against the will of the majority of the electorates wishes.
I see No insult in being called names by a fool, with little understanding of the facts.

Lets send Mr. Hannan out to Hackney to see what his views on tackling Gang violence and gun crime in London would be...he seems to have an opinion on everything else...my point is this clueless idiot is devoid of any real policies or inginuity of being able to tackle REAL problems here in the UK but chooses instead to sit back and merely stay in his comfort zone spouting his own views on foreign policy...I couldnt imagine this cunt up the Rhondda or up Glasgow making any appreciable difference
importedmusic...Have you tried complaining to your own MP ? Answer surely YES.( I see you are a geologist and presumably intelligent) Have you received a reply and what has he said ?
@importedmusic Even Margaret Thatcher subscribed wholeheartedly to the notion of free movement of goods and services. Consumers should be able to purchase goods whereever they want in the EU at the optimum price. This is one of the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Treaty.
reduction in the taxes on alcohol and tobacco would put a stop to smuggling and booze cruises, would also increase the total tax revenue and give shop owners more income. reduction of taxes is a win, win situatation
@750triton Not for consumers. The foreign products would still be cheaper for British consumers (even if the taxes were reduced by 25%). See the analysis in the December 2008 edition of the Economist.
Britain is an island prison. How little freedom the British really have, even to go shopping. On mainland Europe there are no such restrictions we buy what we want where we want without border police and petty restrictions.
@lopzilla There's a train service called Eurostar and it can be quite inexpensive and convenient (especially if you book well in advance and use the service in non-frozen climes). So enough of the "Island prison" tragedy please.
@1957Rotu. I have worked in over forty countries and have lived in five European cities. I now spend nearly seven months a year from Spain commuting to destinations throughout the EEC. As a result I know how busy and booked the Eurostar can be. Sadly you have little experience of travel. You live on an island and like Alcatraz it is surrounded by water making it expensive and difficult for you to leave !
@lopzilla I've been on Eurostar at times of peak travel. Once used it to travel back from Paris to London the day after one of the Rugby World Cup matches in Paris. No difficulty in securing a booking. Also travelled in Summer and successfully made my booking a few days in advance.
So please, lopzilla, do not let the facts get in the way of your twisted logic.
@lopzilla If you wish to characterise me in this way, that is your prerogative. Also if you wish to make sweeping assertions without access to all of the facts, that is also your prerogative.
@lopzilla I buy retail goods from all over the world without the arcane inconvenience of having to travel.
The EU is over regulated, undemocratic, corrupt, profligate and hugely damaging to commerce, international trade, Justice or progress.
The EU's ONLY achievement is its own failure merely destroying fisheries, food output a failed airo industry, Gallilleo project a joke, net importer of food, huge export of jobs and over priced good - The EU is an outdated concept & a failure JUST WAIT!
@Greg260146 Good God I hope that never comes to the States GET YOUR PEOPLE OUT OF THERE END THE WELFARE STATE!! stop importing immigrants they'll be at your throats soon!
@wtfjaftw Hi, sadly how right you are - 234 vs. 23 British MPs vote against accepting EU law on the nod but then do NOTHING for the British peoples & accept an EU FUDGE to settle the con.
As for immigrants turning on us. I understand some 40% of ALL Murder charges in the last year quantified were non British born individuals. The EU has forced a huge body of its social rejects on us from France, Poland and elsewhere in the EU - I have no problems with immigrants of any type when WE control it.
Get real ufewl (apt name by the way). No other government in recorded history has taxed the UK working man like Mr Blair's and Mr Brown's has. Also, look at the education standards of todays youth leaving our schools and universities, the majority of them wouldn't be able to understand Hannan's speech let alone spell some of the long words in it. All in all, £11K seems well spent.
He forgets to say it was his party the conservatives which piled taxes on the beer and fags of the working class man so pay for the tax breaks of the mega-rich like him, for example the
£11,000 hand out of tax payers money he recieved to fund his £28,000 a year education at the private (public) fee payinig school he attended - Marlbrough College.
Who is it hurting if a guy pays £60 quid on petrol to go on a booze cruise to France, 80% of that going towards tax of course, and comes home with an extra bottle of wine or two.
This guy knows about the real issues we are faced with and not the "important" issues the current government thinks worthy of like paying off a suspected TERRORIST £60K!!!
If the Government spent less money on policing British Citizens trying to get alcohol/tobacco/other goods at a reasonable price from mainland Europe into the UK they would have enough of the taxpayers money left over to not charge ridiculous taxes on these goods made within the UK.
Everytime I think it sux in the U.S., I just watch what the Brits are going through, and say, well, at least I'm not them.
Good,luck, you'll need it.

@Greg260146 Pretty much sums up socialism RON PAUL 2012!!
wtfjaftw 11 months ago
@wtfjaftw Hi, if not socialism then at very least the EU sums up marxist communism as a basic concept of centralised dictator committee.
Let us not forget the evil on which it was founded and the aid given to its creation by the CIA & America.
To date it can point at not a single consequential gain commensurate with its corruption and staggering costs.
The EU CAP has been a catastrophy as EUrope is now a net importer of food, its CFP now means our stocks are so low we steal fish from Africa!!!
