  • And these are the hush-kitted engines, I remember the KC135 with the original 'stovepipe' JT3's .... used to think think the windows were gonna crack!

  • Spent thousands of hours building these engines and working on these planes...good times and bad at kalitta. Seems like a million years ago...

  • I miss YIP being this busy. It's so dead now. There is a recent resurgence of USAJet flying, but it'll probably never get back to how this was. Man these are some great videos. Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Hi tb727...THX for your comment. Yes you are correct. I checked my original notes/logs and this was filmed during June 1994...Oops. (I will correct it)

    many thanks...cheers Mp

  • Awesome video, I wish YIP was this busy nowadays. This def wasn't in 2003 though. It was probably in the 90's prior to Kitty Hawk when AIF had the hub running at YIP. Kalitta Air as you know it never operated DC-8's, only 747's since '00/'01.

  • THX for the kind words FelixMies.....cheers Mp

  • This video is absolutely amazing! I did not know that Kalitta Air still operated with the -50s series in 2003. I would have loved to spot one of these unique birds myself. Great camera work!

  • This was 2003?? I don't believe they had so many -55's still in the air :O

  • God how I miss those beautiful airliners.

  • I used to work at a airport and fuel these beautiful aircraft. I miss those old noisy smokey low bypass turbofans. They were almost turbojets.

  • @patriot0048 I share the same passion! The sound of a JT3D (TF33) gives me goosebumps!
