When you first tried to use the ladder, it said "kick ladder". So I suppose you kicked the ladder down.

As you know, in Demon's Souls you'd go Nexus before each area, and every area had 2-4 archstones.

In Dark Souls, nearly the whole game can be played a-z going from one area to the next. And there'll be shortcuts and alternative entrances scattered about (even a secret bonfire or two ^^), like the ladder you missed four or five times which made my throat sore :(

Funny how in #3 or 4, you talked about how meticulous you are in moving through an area ;)

They go into parry-stance; you'll definitely know when

They can't, however, parry and riposte any lunge attack (LS forward + R2)

Has anyone explained the pointy faces yet? They're like red eyes from Demons Souls, only they don't respawn :) Keep on truckin', Mr. T :)

The LADDER was there the whole time, but not the SHORTCUT, as the ladder was retracted. At 14:00 you kicked it to extend it down to the floor.

You're missing a shortcut, you can knock down a ladder to the campfire just after running down the steps away from the dragon.

One of my favorite things about Zisteau is his intros. They always perfectly frame what he's doing.

Random historical inaccuracy! Most medieval spiral staircases actually spiraled upward in a counter-clockwise direction, the opposite of the stairs at the beginning of the video. That way, defenders who would be at the top of the stairs would reach around with their right arm, while still keeping the majority of their body behind the center column. Attackers would have to stretch their arm awkwardly around the center, making it far more difficult to strike the defenders.

The Fire Keeper Souls are used to upgrade your Estus Flasks. Back at the Firelink Shrine, you can go down a set of stairs to find a mute woman in a cell. Talk to her to upgrade your flash and it will heal you for a lot more.

The Knights, as the game calls them, come in two (I think) varieties. The one with the Rapiers, who have the small shield, and the ones with the longsword, who have the big shield. The ones with the big shield don't Parry/Riposte you.
