That snuck upon you in the night that that was suppose to frighten you in a early child delight but you never took to fright. I todally relate to. My Dad use to tell me about this hand that came to bad kids from under the bed. Then one night I seen it and started playing with it. I was a 4 year old boy I never took to fright.
the man had his sights on this genius after LSD WAS DEEMED ILLEGAL, late 66'? early 66'? i don't know but ROXY and the ELEVATORS,,WERE TURNING THE YOUNG ON BIGTIME....the man couldn't have that and thus this gentle person was subjected to elecrocution as "treatment" , 10 fucking years for a joint. the dirty rotten CSers.....the devil in roxy's mind probably was the only thing that made sense in his all too sane head. the crazy bastards are still in charge but i've got news for them all bad
I had listened to this song over and over again while I was in the mental hospital. I chose Roky in order to feel some sort of mental illness solidarity but the refrain "I have always been here before" got a little too haunting although it didn't stop me from adoring the song.
Fuck yeah. I'm waiting for this album to arrive in the mail. It cost me a pretty penny, but it will definitely be worth the cost and the wait. I can hardly wait!!!
Me and Roky have the same beliefs.I know I been here before!

From the gargoyles to stone henge
From the sphynx to the pyramids
To Lucifer's temples praising the devil right
To the Devil's clock as it strikes midnight

I have always been here before
Allowing my mind's call of no love
Incorporate more never stops his flow
I have always been here before

It seems like a bell rings time for deja vu,
Everything is familiar, being here with you
All you ever had before you've had to understand
Now all you have to do is want to have at your command

That that is pleasing
That that is real
That that is forever keeps filling never filled
That that snuck up on you in the night
That that you remember in an early child's delight
That that was supposed to have frightened you
But somehow you never took to fright

Love you forever, now, and then...

btw, this version is a demo Roky played to his manager in his office in 1977 and was released without Roky knowing on an EP.
Great that the compilers of the cd set should choose this because it is so warm and natural and fresh.

it seems Julian Cope took inspiration from this version to make his cover, included in the album Jehovahkill (1992)

He sounds some like Buddy Holly in this version. Buddy got deep sometimes too but most folks didn't have the ear to hear it.
