I still, 5 years after buying this album, can't believe it ends this way. That is, with him closing himself off for good. It's funny too because when you look at Roger Waters' output after this album, he kinda did put up a wall. Nothing he wrote after this was really that good and when you listen to it, you get the feeling that he didn't even try. I reckon it's somewhat pointless after writing the wall. @caseyjoe503, its not about Facebook per se, its about leaving behind technology and the virtual world that engrosses so many people today. Kids today don't even know how to talk to other humans unless its on Facebook or a text message. The song is like saying goodbye to that world and re-entering what most of us know as "the real world".
I thought the other day that this song could also be about hope, about leaving behind the people and the things that bring you down and ruin you, being able to escape from those clutches. Its the wrong place in the album for it to mean that, way to early, but taken on its own it could.

The worms are saying he now is fulling being consumed by madness. The worms represent the death of his sanity and normal control, thus why in hey you, "And the worms ate into his brain."

Jreed, Thats good, there music is amazing. Pink Floyd has never saved my life, but it has helped me through a lot in life so far. But, there music is so inspiring, wonderful, SO perfect.
Yeah Pink Floyd are my favourite band of all time and always will be. I love the guitar solos and other atmospheric sounds and of course Roger Waters' lyrics are so inspiring.

@thejimmyzshow What if there in no one left in the world who cares about you? Then you won't be passing any sort of pain on to anyone.. My father died a little over a month ago, so the number of people that care about me are dwindling fast.. But that's ok. Life still goes on, for now I guess.

I still, 5 years after buying this album, can't believe it ends this way. That is, with him closing himself off for good. It's funny too because when you look at Roger Waters' output after this album, he kinda did put up a wall. Nothing he wrote after this was really that good and when you listen to it, you get the feeling that he didn't even try. I reckon it's somewhat pointless after writing the wall. I mean, this album has it all. Everything one could express in the rock genre is there.

@caseyjoe503, its not about Facebook per se, its about leaving behind technology and the virtual world that engrosses so many people today. Kids today don't even know how to talk to other humans unless its on Facebook or a text message. The song is like saying goodbye to that world and re-entering what most of us know as "the real world".

I thought the other day that this song could also be about hope, about leaving behind the people and the things that bring you down and ruin you, being able to escape from those clutches. Its the wrong place in the album for it to mean that, way to early, but taken on its own it could.

@DaKilla27 The entire album is Symbolism. All have different meaning then there upfront, well, value. The hammers, aren't really representing hammers, same with worms. The worms are saying he now is fulling being consumed by madness. The worms represent the death of his sanity and normal control, thus why in hey you, "And the worms ate into his brain."
