Well, it feels good to know it too! On re-listening again again i think what makes Ian so great is his sincerity of tone. He's so ...real! Not to mention his sense of humor (Ian is this a true story?)
I'm 47. I first listened to this at 17. I was playing it everyday. I don't know why i searched for it today in you tube and there it was, in the live version i loved! Funny thing, thirty (!!!) years after it still sounds fresh and fascinating to my ears. If this is not great music, then what is it?
I could have written this myself! I, too, am 47 and used to listen to this all the time when I was 17, 18. And here I sit today also...just searching up all the Ian Hunter I can find...for no reason other than to enjoy and reminisce. Good to know others still enjoy & appreciate it also!
i have one comment, when a song can bring a tear to my eye, then this musician has succeeded in being a true talent, gifted and more, that is my ian hunter enjoy this is what song is suppose to be and oh thank you mich ronson too
This brings up the most bitter sweet memories for me but i will love it forever, as I will the great Ian Hunter, specially his collaborations with the equally wonderful Mick Ronson... Beautiful!! (0:
I have this album -- one of the best ever! I got to see Ian in a small venue concert in Kent, Ohio in about 1984 or '85. It was INCREDIBLE!!!! There was maybe 100 people there, and I was right at the edge of the stage. Will never forget it! And yes, he did this song :)
1981, spent so many evenings watching this VHS with my friends Jon, Cathy, Brandi. Haven't heard the song in years, but thought of it often and had to hear it again. Thanks for posting!
With his talent this guy was always gonna be somebody someday, but if the scornful Ms Wilde gave a shove in that direction how we all have benefited. The terms legend and genuis are bandied about and applied to far lesser talents than Ian, he deserves em both.
find the legendary Cleveland Agora DVD show from 1978 ---Ellen is featured on a couple of tracks. She is soooooooo cute with a set of pipes on her. Check your fav torrent provider
