Thanks for the response. I run a line from either side of the cockpit across my hiking stick post, and crank it on tight. This stiffens up the tiller enough, so that I can still steer, but if I let go, it will track staight on a reach or a run. I can than do things on the bow, or relax. I recently took the steering wheel off of my boat, and installed a tiller. I'll never go back. I love it. You can't beat the feel/responsiveness of a tiller. Just like sailing a dingy. Happy sailing.

Thanks for posting. How much did that cost? Can you use it on a beat?

cost was a little over $1,000 and it is fine on a beat as long as we trim and reef to keep weather helm to a minimum.
