Audi is the greatest and most revolutionary car company in the world they got there starts in rallying where they introduced 4WD and ever since 4WD was the main use in rally cars then they whent to pikes peak where they beat the record 3 times! then they went to Trans Am and IMSA GTO they were to fast they were not allowed to compete in Trans Am again they were to good :D then Touring cars they dominated of course then LeMans they dominated from 2000 to now just to show how Audi are KINGS :D!!!

the Bentley that won in 2003 was based on a Audi design (R8C) powered by 4.0l engine from Audi, in 2003 was no Audi factory team at LeMans.

The Bentley was raced by Team Joest, for marketing reason it was claimed to be a factory race team.

Can someone please explain to me why these open cockpit LMP1 cars have these twin cowls, one behind the driver (which makes sense) and one behind no one, as though it's made for a passenger that never rides in the car? When I see these the first thing I think is aerodynamic drag. Why not put the driver center with one cowl, like F1.

Of course for road driving you would need a different ECM with a more user friendly engine map, softer suspension and a transmission geared for road driving. Imagine an Enzo with the R15's bodywork. A super high performance car with enough electronic controls to make it road friendly so that even the average boob could drive it with only a 50% chance of killing himself.

Agreed - Audi dominated because Peugeot couldn't match Audi's reliability at full 100%, thus causing Peugeot to come up 1-2 hours short of the finish. Audi's new car next year will have to be handling as good as it did this year and match the Peugeot's top speed if it wants to contend without failure on the French lion.

A Flat-10 hinders the air flow near the difuser, its too wide. This is a reason, why Alfa and Ferrari didn't used this engines in the early 80s, as their wing car design needed improovment.

The design of the R15 is very good. The aerodynamic could be improoved but this will take time. If there is enough room to get further, they will in the next years. But it is the truth: The Peugeot is so fast, that both car will be head to head in the next years.

this last LM audi was not racing 100% as they were having problems with radiator cooling (tires shreds were blocking the air ducts that lead to the radiator .. there is cleaning system in there that cleans and removes this debris that system was not working properly.. as its said its brand new car.. in its peak r10 should on par or faster then the 908 HDI's on the straights HDI's were recording speeds of 211mph while the r15 was only reaching 205.the r10 last year was recording 209mhp!!!

If you look at the track though thers mostly high speed corners, and the straights probably is the best section to gain some distance between two cars.

That would go against what defines F1-cars, which is insane cornering speeds, "out of this world"-brakes, and the difficulty to control traction ecspecially out of slower corners,

Instead of ovals in F1 I would like to se more fast corners.

If I was offered some laps in a Lemans car, I would chose the R8...where I can feel a screaming machine, making my eyes wet!

However if I were to buy a medium range roadcar, I would consider a diesel!
