  • I am really interested in the modulation of western style scales, specifically Double Harmonic Minor (Arabic) scales and it's modes. Some great learning if anyone here is interested. Basically it's a Phrygian Dominant scale with a major 7th, just think of it as a Harmonic Minor Scale and a Phrygian Dominant Scale combined. It sounds really cool!!!

Thanks again for the great lesson, they're really helpful :D

  • so where does the Caug come from if the C is major in A harmonic minor scale?

… if you harmonize the harmonic minor scale you will see it… the notes to a harmonic minor scale are A B C D E F G#… which will give a Cmajor chord with an augmented 5th you can move that arpeggio linear like you do the diminished arpeggio except that all of the triads are major triads and you move it 2 hole steps instead of a step and a half …. I hope that helps
