Hey Terry! Great to see you. "Weight Loss Apocalypse" makes many of the puzzle pieces fall into place, and I really appreciate the emotional eating aspect that is addressed. I am guilty of gluttony over the holidays as well. Sugar cookies with thick icing? Yeah, I ate a batch (or two). Cocaine and sugar (highly addictive substances) have the same effect chemically on our brain, so there is a physiological effect as well as an emotional one. You got this! We can find that balance and maintain. :)
@HCGBlondeAmbition Jenny! :) You are looking great! I'm SLOWLY learning that balance. I was driving home tonight, not hungry - yet - but KNEW that if I had them, I could easily eat 3-4 KINGSIZE candy bars, just for the mental pleasure/satisfaction I would get from them - taste, texture, etc. Mind you, that would have been just over 1900 calories just from THAT binge... 51 grams sugar! And I've done that in the past - Yeah, sugar has me bad! But learning to control it!
I read weightloss apocolypse too and I thought it was so clarifying about how we "use" food. So some people can do hcg and not feel hungry but others of us "feel" the psychological hunger its a good distinguishing point to learn the difference...hopefully we can!
@theskinnyoyster - For the most part, I've been fine with no hunger on this round, but have had a few moments where I "wanted" something sweet, almost to the point where it was "hunger" but it really wasn't. More of a craving I guess. The book has helped me identify this feeling better and I'm hoping it will help me to control it - so far so good. no cheating now, and hopefully no cheating during P3.
I was wondering... the comparison to drugs (alcohol) could you be hypoglycemic and not know it? I had alcoholism in my family, and the root cause was hypoglycemia... do you feel relief after eating sweets, carbs, chocolate? Have a great round, don't cheat!!
@Sourpusscandy - Well, cheating isn't so much a problem for me (thank goodness!!) For some reason, I'm great at protocol when I'm in P2 - P3, well that's another story! No go on the Hypoglycemia - Other than a mental satisfaction, I'm not suffering from any of the symptoms of the disease. I think it's more that I'm used to the chemical satisfaction I get from sweets and it's difficult to stay away from it at times. I'm a work in progress - stay tuned I guess :)
I watched the sugar, the bitter truth video last week and wow, definitely an eye opener! I'm also now 1/2 way thru the apocalypse book. Wow, such a great point of view...very true that this protocol is a great way to learn what true hunger is and continue listening to that in P3/lifetime. Lol, isn't it funny how we stop eating the P2 allowed foods once P3 hits? I didn't eat one apple in P3 lol. You are starting out great! I'm with ya on the sugar. 4 times a year, sounds great! Have a great week
