I never saw this movie, but it's interesting to see Chris Makepeace a little older than he was in "Meatballs" & "My Bodyguard." I love the speech he does about the psychotic albino and eating a cockroach.
wait...why does thar music style sounds the same of the composer who did the soundtrack for DEMONS (1985). haha thats pretty hot if it is. i never noticed till just now
@Johnlindsey289 jajaja of course this is way better n now days only true blood I like, the real freddy krugger the best with englund, big trouble little china helloo a classik ;) another one in fright night so funny n good :) the remake is done is coming with colin farrell as vampire new neighbor,
I saw this movie in theaters when i was 5 years old with my big brother and dad, i had an interests in vampires since i saw Dracula on video and Fright Night when i was 4 in theaters.
Yes that and Near Dark, this movie is one of Tarantino's favorite horror movies and used it for From Dusk Till Dawn. You can tell big time similarities to that movie here!
What if Katrina met Edward Cullen, just imagine. Would she laugh at the sparkles?
@DopeMcDoperson i agree i remember watching this when i was about the same age and it gave me nightmares for weeks lmao i coudlnt eat red sauce for ages lmao
One of my favorite vampire movies, quite an underrated cult classic that influenced From Dusk Till Dawn. This is up there with The Hunger, Lifeforce, Fright Night 1 & 2, Monster Squad, Lost Boys, Vampire Hunter D, The Keep, Lair of the White Worm etc. in terms of wickedly cool 80's vampire movies.
Indeed and this inspired From Dusk Till Dawn big time. If you like this one, check out these similar movies: Lair of the White Worm, Near Dark, Lifeforce, Let The Right One In/Let Me in, Thirst, Bordello of Blood, Sleepwalkers, The Keep, Blade trilogy, 30 Days of Night, The Hunger, def By Temptation, Subspecies movies, The Keep, The Omega Man, Monster Squad, Innocent Blood, Martin, Fearless Vampire Killers, Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2 and Cronos. Seen any of those?
@Johnlindsey289 I recall my mom renting Big Trouble in Little China on VHS when it was a new release if that tells you my age :) Then watching it constantly on cable during the Summer. I've seen some of those others you mentioned. I liked Vampire Hunter D. I did not know there was a sequel, I'll have to check that one out for sure. I rented The Omega Man after I watched I AM LEGEND to compare the two. I'll take note of the other ones you mentioned.
You seen Near Dark, Bordello, Lair of the White Worm, Lifeforce, Subspecies, The Hunger, Martin, Innocent Blood, Let The Right One In, Sleepwalkers, Blade movies, 30 Days of Night and Monster Squad?
@Johnlindsey289 Yes I've seen many of those. And yes, you are correct. They beat Twilight and most new horror today by a mile. Today it's too Glam and Teeny Bopper.. like Dawson's Creek or Glee with vampires. It's lame. They took what was good in "Interview With A Vampire" and took that style too far over the top and now it's just cheesy. Or producers think SEX SELLS and they ruin it with too many "hot chicks" and sexy love scenes or some crap like that that's totally out of situation.
You should watch Daybreakers which is an awesome vampire movie. In the 80's we had sex and gory horror movies back then did you know that mainly Friday The 13th? You should rent daybreakers, very much like Blade Runner meets Vamp.
@Johnlindsey289 I've seen Daybreakers. I liked it. True, sex and horror goes hand in hand most of the time in slasher flicks. But in the 80s it wasn't obnoxious or borderline juvenile like what's popping up in so many remakes today. Though the new Nightmare on Elmstreet didn't have any of that . However I didn't like the remake anyway. Freddy wasn't evil like Robert Englund. In the new one he looked like just a burn victim with a speech impediment (no offense to any real burn victims).
@Johnlindsey289 Near Dark was an awesome Vampire flick. I never watched it in the 80s, and I rented it for the first time a couple of years ago. It was so down to earth, realistic, and rough.. it seemed more true to life. There were not even any over the top fake fangs exaggerated. It's hard to pinpoint what works and when though. NIGHTBREED was very theatrical and fantasy filled, but the way they did it worked.
Do you think Lifeforce was an original and unique take on vampire lore? showing vampires who don't need fangs or suck blood and drain energy instead of blood similar to the vorvon vampires on Buck Rogers, even Killer Klowns had alien vampires as they do drink blood. You should check out the Swedish modern vampire classic Let The Right One In and the American remake Let Me In, both awesome movies.
@Johnlindsey289 Seen them all. As for calling Killer Klowns vampires... never heard of that. I don't think that's what they intended. They just sucked whatever decomposed inside their cocoons. Flesh, Blood, Bones, and All.. whatever they wrapped up. Vampires just do Blood. Come to think of it I haven't seen Lifeforce. It's in my netflix que. I couldn't get into it for the first 15 minutes. I'll give it another chance now that you brought it up.
Good one, so 80's. I have to go along with popular opinion, the film itself didn't work for me as horror or comedy. Grace Jones made a cool vampire even though she only got to hiss. 10 years later came "From Dusk till Dawn" and "Bordello of Blood", hmm. Thanks for posting!
