Dina belly dancing

Look at her!! She doesnt need even a bellydance costume to perform! she is a symbol and an inspiration for many bellydancers all over the world! she can stay 5 minutes stand in the same place dancing or she can EAT the stage in just 1 minute.... I saw many dancer that make million of moves and have so much techinique but after they finish perform i feel EMPTY, like nothing happen... but DINA??? Thanks God i can watch her performances... feeling and CHARISMA :)

There is a fact about Belly dancing people need to know , its not about the ability of a woman to do the movements only , its the body language and the facial expressions and the woman/girls ability to feel the music and interpret it into movements and attractive live performance ..

Its more than just movements. This is what most westerners don't understand. Raks Sharki and Baladi are about musical and emotional expression through movement. Its not about being able to do a movement. Anyone can do a movement. Its about executing those movements with passion, soul and life energy that makes it alive. That is the hard part. To be relaxed enough and strong enough in yourself to be that open and vulnerable so that you can express your soul.

You are more right; It should be foremost about emotion and the dancer expressing with her body the music to the point where the music just flows through the body creating movement and they become interlinked. That is why true raqs sharki is improvised. On top of this the dancer must be able to connect or transmit this emotion to the audience.

Sorry I ran out of words so I have to post the rest of the comment here: I am very pleased to read your comment as so often I have to argue raqs sharki's right to be viewed as highly as other dance forms such as ballet mostly people here view it as being on the same level as burlesque or as some harem fantasy. :(

I agree!! I'm English and belly dance. I've seen dancers who do more moves than Dina but they just dont captivate you in the same way she does. And the moves she does are very advanced!!
