We all need more love; that magical, transforming power. When we let it into our hearts, our world shifts. Nothing truly matters except the way we give and receive love. I highly recommend: “Precious Gifts of Love” by C.J. Good (AMAZON). 366 daily reflections explore the meaning and miracles of love. Breaking through the confines of self-imposed obstacles to freedom; feeling contentment in all aspects of life, is the purpose of its message.

I get the idea you are not realy present, the way you look at her and responding to her responses, it's like you are on autopilot. It seems a good thing to you ! That's the work ! Enjoy!
In her book 'A Thousand Names for Joy', Katie writes that at some some stage of her life she was almost blind and in much pain. It seems to me that the 'problem' why this interview seems to be sligtly off is that she can't see... I haven't been able to find how is her sight now. But for me, blind or not, - she and her Work is a genuine 'It'. <3

@NotTooObvious 'There you see her... sitting there across the way... she's got a lot to say, but there's something about her .... Yes, You want her, speaking to her you know you do, possible she wants you to theres one way to ask her. You got a shut-up, just shut-up now and then kiss the girl' :-), I agree as you can see :-D
this is very interesting and profound but I think that any rational person does this process very quickly in their own mind. Writing it down makes it more real to you I suppose.
@NotTooObvious : for the untrained mind/eye she might appear as you described her however, world renowned doctors (MDs) and psychologist (Phds) refer to her work all the time. They prescribe it for their patients and recommend it for all people to utilize at all times.
Having said that, the what not o wear comment was very funny. I agree on that one :)
@NotTooObvious: Of the top of my head I can think of 2. Dr. Daniel Amen, MD reference her work in his book" Magnificent Mind at any age" and Dr. Wayne Dyer, PhD reference her in his book "excuses be gone". I recall another MD and psychologist also referencing her work. Their names escapes me at this time. I am sure if you look you will find. Also remember not everyone is capable of doing the same thing. We are not the same. What works for u doesn't mean it will work for someone else.
Dr. Dyer is a PhD not MD as mentioned above (in psychology). Dr. Amen is an MD. I gave you the recourses. Check 'em out. Getting rid of expectations isn't always the message by all of these gurus. They all have different styles and different msg's. They are gurus b/c they are well read and studied for yrs more than you and I ever did so we can't argue with them unless we do as much work as they did. judging them out of ignorance will make us just that. I hope this helps! Happy 2010 :)
@NotTooObvious We are all on a journey of self discovery. Walt Whitman said I am large, I contain multitudes. To find parts of our depth is an amazing thing. I learned tremendous amount of info about myself form our exchanges. Thank you for all the learning and please enjoy the ride :)
Focusing on what Byron's wearing or some other nonsense is the IDEAL way to avoid what she is saying and how uncomfortable it makes one feel. Guess what? That's what we're doing all the time. Which is exactly her point in looking at how you "judge your neighbor".
After 20 years of personal/spiritual growth I found 'the work' & the effect was profound. It's incredibly simple, effective & free on her website - a gift to the world.
Anyone who doesn't understand her need watch videos like 'My mother is selfish and controlling'. The world needs 'the work' & a lot more Byron Katies. For those who think it's not needed - good for you that you are so joyfully happy & peaceful all the time. For the rest of us, Byron Katie & others like her are a blessing.
Dear gundabalf - Byron is not staring, she is offering her heat's love and oneness with the interviewer, and giving him her full attention, a rare virtue these days. Happiness is when the heart feels quicker than the mind thinks. Byron is using her oneness-heart, not her mind's suspicions, uncertainities or fears.
Good day to all of my fellow Christians, firstly my apology for being out of topic. I came here to remind you people that the judgment day has been starting already. Then turn the statement around to it's opposite (or as many opposites as make sense to you) and find some genuine examples of how the turned-around statement could be as true or truer.
Who would you be without the thoughts that only Christians go to heaven, America has the right to teach other nations how to live, there is such a reality as 'they' (Have you ever met a 'they'?.:-).
The world is principally constructed by thoughts, and wonderful people like Katie needed the experience of 'hell' to wake up!
Who would you be 'with' the thought that the world is perfect, and without the thought that you need to put it right?
You do know that BK says, "there are no people here"? BK is that which isn't pointing to that which isn't in a futile attempt to prove that which isn't actually IS. Reality is now, reality is all, reality needs no help, teachers, awakening, to be that which reality IS NOW. Now is eternally now. Presence is everywhere present and nowhere absent. "judge not, lest ye be judged"
that is a simple truth, not a simple command.
the same mind that judges "others" judges "you" in the very same moment.
that's just the way it is.
if "your" mind stops comparing "you" with "others" a great burden is relinquished.
but you got it anyway, so this is just a rant about your truncated quotation.
as a koan, it strikes me harder (i think) than when issued as a command backed up with a threat.
that's what i just got, thanks to your comment.
