  • I think she is just having an intimate relationship with life guys, you just arent used to seeing people in that state...

  • View Byron Katie's interview with Best of You Today by visiting our website.

  • I have never seen Katie behave in this manner. She appears to be in a haze or fog. Come back to us Katie

  • Is this just another book sale, advert or something of that kind?

  • Why look at yourself. Just live and enjoy life, and work for money.

  • love her...very kind individual..her work will transform the world, mind and hearts of everyone

  • I get the idea she is not really present, the way she's looking at this guy and responding at his questions, it's like she's on autopilot. Does not seem to be a good thing, to me.

  • @MatthijsDH

I get the idea you are not realy present, the way you look at her and responding to her responses, it's like you are on autopilot. It seems a good thing to you ! That's the work ! Enjoy!

  • @samadhan66

Just my personal observations. Heh, you go and create a blank mind if you want to.

  • @samadhan66

And the winner of the Least insightful comment award of 2011 is samadhan66! Congratulations!

  • @MatthijsDH Haha yeah it looks like she smoked a fat blunt

  • @Menarson Just that she doesn't need to smoke a blunt to feel that good...

  • @MatthijsDH she's fantastic.. i've been listening to her queries and reading and doing the work.. truly, give it a shot !! :)

  • @MatthijsDH

In her book 'A Thousand Names for Joy', Katie writes that at some some stage of her life she was almost blind and in much pain. It seems to me that the 'problem' why this interview seems to be sligtly off is that she can't see... I haven't been able to find how is her sight now. But for me, blind or not, - she and her Work is a genuine 'It'. <3

Paz y amor.

  • lol

  • She had eye surgery and needs to be close to look in their eyes

  • @NotTooObvious 'There you see her... sitting there across the way... she's got a lot to say, but there's something about her .... Yes, You want her, speaking to her you know you do, possible she wants you to theres one way to ask her. You got a shut-up, just shut-up now and then kiss the girl' :-), I agree as you can see :-D

  • Comment removed

  • this is very interesting and profound but I think that any rational person does this process very quickly in their own mind. Writing it down makes it more real to you I suppose.

  • @NotTooObvious : for the untrained mind/eye she might appear as you described her however, world renowned doctors (MDs) and psychologist (Phds) refer to her work all the time. They prescribe it for their patients and recommend it for all people to utilize at all times.

Having said that, the what not o wear comment was very funny. I agree on that one :)

  • Comment removed

  • @NotTooObvious: Of the top of my head I can think of 2. Dr. Daniel Amen, MD reference her work in his book" Magnificent Mind at any age" and Dr. Wayne Dyer, PhD reference her in his book "excuses be gone". I recall another MD and psychologist also referencing her work. Their names escapes me at this time. I am sure if you look you will find. Also remember not everyone is capable of doing the same thing. We are not the same. What works for u doesn't mean it will work for someone else.

  • Comment removed

  • Dr. Dyer is a PhD not MD as mentioned above (in psychology). Dr. Amen is an MD. I gave you the recourses. Check 'em out. Getting rid of expectations isn't always the message by all of these gurus. They all have different styles and different msg's. They are gurus b/c they are well read and studied for yrs more than you and I ever did so we can't argue with them unless we do as much work as they did. judging them out of ignorance will make us just that. I hope this helps! Happy 2010 :)

  • @NotTooObvious We are all on a journey of self discovery. Walt Whitman said I am large, I contain multitudes. To find parts of our depth is an amazing thing. I learned tremendous amount of info about myself form our exchanges. Thank you for all the learning and please enjoy the ride :)

  • @NotTooObvious seriously, I think you are just playin' yourself.

  • gosh I could think like her. It's hard but I am trying :)

  • Focusing on what Byron's wearing or some other nonsense is the IDEAL way to avoid what she is saying and how uncomfortable it makes one feel. Guess what? That's what we're doing all the time. Which is exactly her point in looking at how you "judge your neighbor".

  • After 20 years of personal/spiritual growth I found 'the work' & the effect was profound. It's incredibly simple, effective & free on her website - a gift to the world.

Anyone who doesn't understand her need watch videos like 'My mother is selfish and controlling'. The world needs 'the work' & a lot more Byron Katies. For those who think it's not needed - good for you that you are so joyfully happy & peaceful all the time. For the rest of us, Byron Katie & others like her are a blessing.

  • why is she staring into his face like that

  • Dear gundabalf - Byron is not staring, she is offering her heat's love and oneness with the interviewer, and giving him her full attention, a rare virtue these days. Happiness is when the heart feels quicker than the mind thinks. Byron is using her oneness-heart, not her mind's suspicions, uncertainities or fears.

  • i find it hard to even make eye contact with the person i'm talking to :P That's why this seems really intimidating to me.

  • I met Katie some years ago.

It IS intimidating, if you're not used to the attention.

  • because if you see into others eyes you see

pain and pleasure everything they have inside of them

and you can see it in yourself aswell, because eyes

    reflect yourself aswell.

Many people wants to explain themselves forgetting to look into the eyes of someone

    and really listen to them...

  • because she is interested in what he is saying...

  • wow this must be the worse intervieuw ever!

"is it true that blablablabla? yes". Boy this guy loves hering himself.

  • I didn't particularly like the guy either when I first saw this clip.

I know, I know...."do the work on him."

  • katie has this really attentive way of....paying attention, lol....it's the best example of feeling like someone's really listening

  • Ha! VERY attentive.

  • Byron Katie's work has helped me in my life, and she's made literally ZERO dollars off me. I don't want to do her favors either.

You can get everything you need off of her website, and other place on the internet. check torrents.

  • That's okay, we all have our own boundaries.

  • Hey, Byron always leans in toward the person she is talking to. This conveys closeness.

  • This is actually corporate spam from one of the world's most effective LGAT teachers. Google "Byron Katie cult" or check out igotschooled%blogspot%com for a summary of what's out there.

  • Hi igotschooled: I have a judgement that you're an old fashioned idiot. So far I have not been able to find a turnaround. I'll keep you posted.

    ;-)

  • Hey Iam: not really sure how to respond to this. My first thought was "thanks for the vituperative snark, it's really common among Katieheads and those with advaita pretensions". But then I reconsidered: if there' even a tiny genuine impulse towards understanding self and reality I should probably respond. An initial zero experience doesn't necessarily improve behavior, but if you do get serious about, as the Tibetans say, "the conduct and the view", please do keep me posted. Thanks.

  • I've been serious about 'right view' and the Tibetan traditions for some time "schooled." Thanks anyway. And I wouldn't trust someone not hip to Katies clarity

  • Yep. in all this time igotschooled, I can't help but think the "old fashioned idiot" tag still applies.

  • Great stuff! I can't get enough of this!

  • to my understanding, she had eye surgery of some kind within past year to forestall blindness (that her husband insisted on, as she accepted "What is") and that her vision is restored.

  • Byron Katie's a life-saver. Does anyone know if she is blind? She has a odd way of looking at people while being interviewed. I have always wanted to know.

Nothing negative, I absolutely love her :),

    THANKS BYRON!

  • She didn't for her first two books but in the third book discussed how she developed Fuch's Dystrophy and her eyesight was going. I think the problem is fixed now. You should read "A Thousand Names for Joy". There are marvelous passages about her gratefulness for not seeing etc.

  • Byron looks differently at people because she has compassionate way of seeing. This is how people with open hearts look at other people.

  • This lady has such a presence...and the world is a better plsce for people like her and her teachings.

  • Each thought, no matter how benign or kind, is still a judgment. It's merely an opinion. Jesus said "Judge Not" and I translate this to mean "think not". Instant no-mind joy. The thought arises - and I ask myself "Is it true?" and I know that no thought could ever be true. Truth is un-thinkable.

Love is pretty fine though isn't it?

Thanks Katie - you're the SHAZIT!

    xoxo Liam

  • "judge not, lest ye be judged"

that is a simple truth, not a simple command.

the same mind that judges "others" judges "you" in the very same moment.

that's just the way it is.

if "your" mind stops comparing "you" with "others" a great burden is relinquished.

but you got it anyway, so this is just a rant about your truncated quotation.

as a koan, it strikes me harder (i think) than when issued as a command backed up with a threat.

that's what i just got, thanks to your comment.

    best, p

  • She certainly gives out a very positive vibe. I don't know how that guy didn't get hypnotised by her because I nearly did.

  • this made my day

  • Permission to judge people is awesome.

No guilt, but invited to speak judgements.

    Then ask FOUR QUESTIONS:

    1) Is it really true

    A thousand Names for Joy

  • The four questions:

    1) Is it true

    2) Can you absolutely know that it's true?

    3) How do you react when you believe that thought?

    4) Who would you be without the thought?

Then turn the statement around to it's opposite (or as many opposites as make sense to you) and find some genuine examples of how the turned-around statement could be as true or truer.

  • Who would you be without the thoughts that only Christians go to heaven, America has the right to teach other nations how to live, there is such a reality as 'they' (Have you ever met a 'they'?.:-).

The world is principally constructed by thoughts, and wonderful people like Katie needed the experience of 'hell' to wake up!

Who would you be 'with' the thought that the world is perfect, and without the thought that you need to put it right?

  • You do know that BK says, "there are no people here"? BK is that which isn't pointing to that which isn't in a futile attempt to prove that which isn't actually IS. Reality is now, reality is all, reality needs no help, teachers, awakening, to be that which reality IS NOW. Now is eternally now. Presence is everywhere present and nowhere absent. There is no becoming that which you already are.

  • And the purpose of your communication???

  • The sheer joy of authenticating and illuminating the nature of that which IS. Reality is ALL. Presence being all the presence there is, truth remains that which truth IS regardless of any seeming appearances attested to by that which isn't. There is no purpose in it at all. It's the nature of love, love loves love for there really IS nothing else. Now is now, Now is changeless perfection. There's nothing to fix, no one to help, no opposition.

  • do you like that solomon?

    is this a stick?

  • I agree that all views are valid as well!

  • She is the most intimate human being I've witnessed! I just can't get enough of her wisdom.

  • can we have more of this kind of interviews

  • Great stuff! I can't get enough of this concept! I want to breathe it!

  • Love
