I remeber BBC 1 Midlands after a test would open up with the newsreader mostly David Stevens openingup the some music with pictures of the BBC Midlands Newsroom or parts of the midlans then the news and after that then would hand over to Play School
In 1979 each region would have there own start up, or at least they did on BBC1 West.
There would be a huge clunk as they opted out from the London feed. I believe the news presenter/CA would man the graphics himself, which would include their own version of the globe and clock.
That's right, I think the tune Corporation Pop was used; BBC Midlands took the music from the London feed and applied this to their MIdlands Today slide and then went straight to their clock and their regional news programme. If a Welsh language programme was shown on BBC1 this was never shown in Wales so a BBC Wales trade test card would be shown instead, a version of which I shall upload soon, so Wales wouldn't need to opt out of the London feed at that point.
