  • Its amazing that at one time you needed a mile or two of runway to take off but now we have jets that don't need a runway at all.

  • Now lets see it take off. :P

  • @ScientificExploits watch a fat Albert jato, thats how they would have done it, prob would have needed the entire carrier deck though still.

  • Shit O.O I did read that title right.

  • We Seriously Need More Bigger Carrier. To Carry about 3 AC-130s and Other Ground Type FIghters[REAL LONG RUNWAYS]

  • @waltersteenvoorden i think they use the catapult instead of JATO

  • sweet no land a AC-130 on a aircraft

  • sweet nor land a AC-130 on a aircraft

  • When the hell was this?!?! This film looks so grainy, I'll bet this happened in the 70's! Who's voice is that, Walter Cronkite's? How come this was never shown before?

(JATO = Jet Assisted Take Off. Auxilary rockets ("booster engines") are attached to a plane which give it addtional thrust thereby enabling it to launch from an even shorter take off distance than the minimum requirement. Thus, it can launch off carrier decks at sea. The correct term is actually RATO: Rocket Assisted Take Off.)

  • is this the same plane from the movie The Aviator that I watch just now? ;p

  • Nice smooth landing

  • watch?v=BjNyQvhsQE8

No JATO for take off. Fully loaded it might need them. As for landing, reversing the pitch is more than enough so arrestor system not needed

  • Emergency airdrop airplane got back XD

  • I have such fond memories aboard USS Forrestal CV-59 but my memories would have been fonder had I had the chance to witness this bizarre landing. Really how the hell do you get a C-130 catapulted off. USS Forrestal was carbon fuel driven and had only 600 psi catapult pressure.

  • " LOOK MA' NO HOOK"....

  • imagine touching the brakes on that plane

they would burn your hands clean off !!

  • hahaha 2 pilots fly away through windows

  • why, just why

  • now its time for a C-17 to land on a carrier... JUST BECAUSE

  • Oh My god :|

  • well if they abbsoluty couldent get off it would be like thank god we landed! how do we get off? crew say aint no way in hell pilots like well when do you go back to port? 2 years! what!!! well cant hold up the deck pilot looks over there pushing it into the water "wait wait!!!" splash damn that was my favorite flying plane!

  • grreat now can that be done to c 17 planes

  • Holy shit, I didn't even now that was possible

  • i didnt know they could fit on aircraft carrier runways. jeez im a dumbass

  • awesome we landed....

wait.. how the hell can we takeoff?

oh shit i forgot to tell we can't takeoff

we need more flaps to takeoff

  • go backk and type in C130 Carrier Takeoff, i think it takes up the whole ddeck to do though lol

  • "Sweet, we landed it!"

"Wait, now how the hell do we get it off?"

    "Shit"

  • ask me the same question xD

  • @pbplaya5

"Wait, now how do we get it off?"

Easy, Troll Physics. Speed up carrier to take off speed and you get infinite runway. Jelly?

  • wooooow thats impressive

  • ..and now its on deck to stay. Can't lift that off again i bet

  • nah, it could probably get off the carrier with a JATO.

  • 2 possible options:

1 use jadames (desposible rockets attached to aircraft to give them short takeoff ability), and hope it can hit 180 to get of the deck.

2 just sail home with it and have a crane lift it on shore

  • jadams? JDAMs are GPS guided bombs. You probably mean JATOs(Jet Assisted Take Off).

  • An AC 130 only needs 130 knots under its wings for lift off, with the ship cruising at 30 knots and turning into the wind you already have 50 ish knots. Throttle all the way up and hold the brakes. Then let go and your free, or just use JATO's like a puss.

  • how can he start again with the C130 from the deck?!

  • They cant, they just sail back with it.

  • Legend aircraft

  • Damn. My friend flew Tomcats for a living, and he used to tell me that the deck looked like a football field...and that was in a -14. I can't imagine how fucking small that carrier looked to the guy in the pilot's seat of the -130 lol.

  • ok nice landing, now how do you get that large bird off the deck?

  • now, get it off the deck, thats another story

  • didn't the show JAG do something like this..?

  • well that was with ham rab Ubber laywer

    defense attorney by day

ninja commando flyer extrodinere by night

  • yep... they actually showed part of this at the end of the episode of JAG. That Harm Rab is sometin..but then so is the C 130 , awesome aircraft, like the B-52 , both being flown by grandsons of original pilots.

  • I am pretty sure the words on the side of the c130 said "Look Ma! No hook!"

  • 21 unarrested and unassisted deck takeoffs and landings.Skill of the highest order.

  • Quality video of the herc landing

  • I believe the Hercules in question is currently at the Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola.

  • Okay... here's a screenshot of the Landing Sequence i mean... have a look at the LAST picture.

  • OMFG. I Tried this in FS9... its almost impossible, even with full flaps and minimum KIAs. The C130 is one of them Worlds most beautiful Birds ever made.

    Five Stars.

  • Are they fuckin' NUTS???

  • Ok. I heard it was craned off.

  • Did they got of the carrier without JATO/RATO's? Probally not that much MTO on a carrierdeck with a C130

  • To my knowledge it was a JATO assisted takeoff

  • @dwdave Jet Assisted Take Off take off

  • @dwdave JATO = JET ASSISTED TAKEOFF. No need to add assisted takeoff.

  • @dwdave Jet assisted take off assisted take off?
