@thepolacek I got it for Christmas, 1996. Age 14... takes me back. Such a time of mystery and sadness, and beauty. Being a teenager. And a different world back then too.
Probably the most meaningful piece of music ever written. It gets to me at my best, at my weakest, all at the same time, and it makes it all seem so right and so beautiful.
Hey YouTube. I'm thinking about making some piano tutorials, and this was the first song I learned. If anyone wants a tutorial, its nice and simple, and if I get a few replies in favor, I'll get to it. Just seeing if there is any interest in a tutorial. I love this song.
I saw them do this on stage with a Jeff and Ginger with Acoustic Guitars, Lisa on the organ, Jimmy on the drums, and Billy and just raising his hands up and down with the music like a conductor.
This song reminds me of waking up in the mornings of cold days, going to school or work, feeling a bit depressed at the repetition of mundane day to day tasks as just another head in a crowd.
When I bought this double cd I thought I usally don't like but a couple things when I get those things. But I can honestly say this wasn't one of those purchases. I love 99 percent of it. Of course Billy's voice and his overall musical arrangements are simply genious. Love SP forever!
I use to lay in bed hearing this song as a teenager and I remember feeling sadness and joy all at once Young teenage angry one day would fade how a rainbow pecks out from after the rain.
This is the first song I'm learning to play on piano. It's an amazing example of how some musicians can say so much with so little - technically it's just not that difficult, but it's a beautiful, compelling piece. Nothing short of masterful.
This is the first song I'm learning to play on piano. It's an amazing example of how some musicians can say so much with so little - technically it's just not that difficult, but it's a beautiful, compelling piece. Nothing short of masterful.
why dose this not have more vews? this song makes me remember of all times that my life seemed like a dream and sometimes when i listen to this i ask where they real? best peace of music ever!
You don't watch Silent Movies do you? There from the movie "A Trip To The Moon," the movie is the first Science-Fiction movie ever made. The film was shot in 1902 over a hundred years ago. The girl on the front is another old Silent Movie actress Mary Pickford I'm a big fan of her movies.
Sat down the other day and had a proper proper look at the artwork in the booklet and was amazed by some of it. Paticulary the cats getting married! Everything about this album is amazing.
I agree with everyone, Master piece, memorys, by far the best piece of music that will always take me back in time.
This was the first song done at there concert in 199? (95 or 96) @ Sydneys Haldon Pavilion , I was with people that made my memorys so much more... these people were from Old Erowal Bay... if you ever read this then you will know who you are... Peace V
your cool... i love shooting stars do you ever wish on them. they do come true. most of the time. i love the night sky period... i love everything about it. by starlight i thought it would be cool to be in an air bollon with someone speical and play that song
this song....means the world to me... it reminds me of the best times in my life and also my friend mark r.i.p. i am glad to live the life i did and the smashing pumpkins being apart of it made it even more meaningful and my memorys threw there music. they are one of the best bands i have ever heard. and i am so greatful that they made it big so we could hear their music cause without them things would not be same..
I've always felt that, much like Queen's We Will Rock You + We Are the Champions, this song and Tonight, Tonight should be seen as one whole song. It leads wonderfully into Tonight, Tonight and sweeps you into the world of MCIS.
Billy Corgan reminds me the singer of an animated band hiting strong here in Italy not being a million dollar production. Search for SWAVE IN THE FUTURE
This song is an example of what can happen when a musical and lyrical genius is left alone with a piano over the course of one of his greatest albums.
What's amazing is that Billy had only been playing the piano for approximately for one year prior to writing & recording this tune. It's pure Pumpkins. Nothing could've fit better.
He's just one of those musical geniuses who, once he's 'seen' the concept behind how an instrument works, he just pours his soul into & back out of it.
its really cool the way the cd is split into two. day & night. this is obviously the happy version of the end of farewell and goodnight, I think I prefer the end of farewell and goodnight, this is still good though
By far? Shit dude, that's saying a lot :) I love this song and all but I like others pretty close, Black Dog and Moby Dick by Zeppelin, Winter Solstice by The Tea Party, a few Dead Can Dance numbers...so much good stuff out there...always loved the mood of this one, sorta dreamy.
I have been a SP fan since Gish, but for whatever reason, this song is the most powerful, passioate song that SP has produced. Its right up there with Tonight Tonight
Wow.. i havent heard this in about 10 years... it brings me back childhood memories that i thought were completely forgoten! but this reminded me of so many things!!!!!
