  • @LoganLeeCloud I know scott pligrim makes a few references to this album, when scott wears a zero t-shirt and the infinite sadness part of the film

  • @LoganLeeCloud Maybe. I know the vynil version of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness contains a bonus track titled, "The Infinite Sadness"

  • I didn't understand the album when I got it (Christmas 1995), I was only 13 then. It truly is amazing.

  • @thepolacek I got it for Christmas, 1996. Age 14... takes me back. Such a time of mystery and sadness, and beauty. Being a teenager. And a different world back then too.

  • i was so in love with this sweet girl..

15 years later i ' am still so in love with this amazing masterpiece !

  • i remember getting baked to this song, all the lights off, and drifting off......brings me back everytime! Smashing Pumpkins, beautiful

  • Scott Pilgrim brought me here.

  • Probably the most meaningful piece of music ever written. It gets to me at my best, at my weakest, all at the same time, and it makes it all seem so right and so beautiful.

  • @MrNastyVan I've recorded the first part and hope to put it up soon.

  • @sethutkc350 thank you very much :D

  • This is my favourite song of all time ever.

  • Gorgeous. In every sense of the word.

  • @sethutkc350 : Count me in favour. Can't play and have no piano but sounds like a good idea to me.

    Awesome song.

  • Hey YouTube. I'm thinking about making some piano tutorials, and this was the first song I learned. If anyone wants a tutorial, its nice and simple, and if I get a few replies in favor, I'll get to it. Just seeing if there is any interest in a tutorial. I love this song.

  • @sethutkc350 Please do :)

  • The piano version is my favorite !

  • the most beautiful song ever...always reminds me of heaven

  • I saw them do this on stage with a Jeff and Ginger with Acoustic Guitars, Lisa on the organ, Jimmy on the drums, and Billy and just raising his hands up and down with the music like a conductor.

  • This song reminds me of waking up in the mornings of cold days, going to school or work, feeling a bit depressed at the repetition of mundane day to day tasks as just another head in a crowd.

  • @madrox84 the useless drag of another day

  • When I bought this double cd I thought I usally don't like but a couple things when I get those things. But I can honestly say this wasn't one of those purchases. I love 99 percent of it. Of course Billy's voice and his overall musical arrangements are simply genious. Love SP forever!

  • I use to lay in bed hearing this song as a teenager and I remember feeling sadness and joy all at once Young teenage angry one day would fade how a rainbow pecks out from after the rain.

  • This is the first song I'm learning to play on piano. It's an amazing example of how some musicians can say so much with so little - technically it's just not that difficult, but it's a beautiful, compelling piece. Nothing short of masterful.

  • this song gives me the chills i love it !

  • The album for my generation...90's teens..........Now I hope the new decades teens enjoy it...and we can love it forever...

  • if you really listen to this song, and feel the emotion that it conveys, you'd cry.

  • @S4dist1cK i did then, i still do now

  • why dose this not have more vews? this song makes me remember of all times that my life seemed like a dream and sometimes when i listen to this i ask where they real? best peace of music ever!

  • with this song i have a magic travel in my imagination

    its simple perfection

  • That picture is absolutley the best picture to pair with this song. Very nice

  • @MrShadowBlanco It is, but I don't understand what all the pictures mean.. Does anybody?

  • You don't watch Silent Movies do you? There from the movie "A Trip To The Moon," the movie is the first Science-Fiction movie ever made. The film was shot in 1902 over a hundred years ago. The girl on the front is another old Silent Movie actress Mary Pickford I'm a big fan of her movies.

  • coolieo

  • Can I cry?

  • This album was practically the sound track to my middle school years, and my freshman high school year.

  • Sat down the other day and had a proper proper look at the artwork in the booklet and was amazed by some of it. Paticulary the cats getting married! Everything about this album is amazing.

  • This smashing pumpkins album is a masterpiece.

  • @tteu123 Who the fuck disliked your comment?

  • I agree with everyone, Master piece, memorys, by far the best piece of music that will always take me back in time.

This was the first song done at there concert in 199? (95 or 96) @ Sydneys Haldon Pavilion , I was with people that made my memorys so much more... these people were from Old Erowal Bay... if you ever read this then you will know who you are... Peace V

  • so mellon collie....(L)

  • i havent heard this song in years and i just happened to have stumbled across it...its as if i've found a long lost treasure :]

  • I always found it funny how you could listen to music and be swept right back to a place you long have forgotten. This is one of those songs.

  • your cool... i love shooting stars do you ever wish on them. they do come true. most of the time. i love the night sky period... i love everything about it. by starlight i thought it would be cool to be in an air bollon with someone speical and play that song

  • this song....means the world to me... it reminds me of the best times in my life and also my friend mark r.i.p. i am glad to live the life i did and the smashing pumpkins being apart of it made it even more meaningful and my memorys threw there music. they are one of the best bands i have ever heard. and i am so greatful that they made it big so we could hear their music cause without them things would not be same..

  • I've always felt that, much like Queen's We Will Rock You + We Are the Champions, this song and Tonight, Tonight should be seen as one whole song. It leads wonderfully into Tonight, Tonight and sweeps you into the world of MCIS.

  • I agree with that Melon Collie and The Infinite Sadness is a true musical masterpiece.

  • word.

  • you are funny...

  • this is the beginning of a roller coaster ride of emotions in the most brilliant album of all time.

  • Absolutely man, this is easily my favorite album ever. My tastes change a lot, but I'll never tire of this masterpiece.

  • @rsanfran deffo

  • @rsanfran i agree

  • this puts my in a almost high state but not all the way there. its like im feeling mouring pain and geif yet nothing. it really inspires me.

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • me too, i also listen to farewell and goodnight before going to bed

  • So lovely! Thank you for sharing it with me.

  • I love this song, this album, and this band.

  • Billy Corgan reminds me the singer of an animated band hiting strong here in Italy not being a million dollar production. Search for SWAVE IN THE FUTURE

  • this song makes me sad, thats why i love it

  • amazing song

  • holy fuck

  • This song is an example of what can happen when a musical and lyrical genius is left alone with a piano over the course of one of his greatest albums.

  • Amazing song. This songs digs real deep.

  • I just picked up the violins in this version a lot more than my c.d

This is a really beautiful piano piece.

Their instrumentals are just so amazing.

Listen to Depresso and you'll know what I mean.

  • This morning I woke up,had a shower while listening to this song.

    Something mystic...

The best way to star a new day!

  • the best piano pieces i have ever heard in my life!

  • What's amazing is that Billy had only been playing the piano for approximately for one year prior to writing & recording this tune. It's pure Pumpkins. Nothing could've fit better.

He's just one of those musical geniuses who, once he's 'seen' the concept behind how an instrument works, he just pours his soul into & back out of it.

  • A superb singer/song writer. He also wrote Malibu for Courtney Love & Hole.

  • its really cool the way the cd is split into two. day & night. this is obviously the happy version of the end of farewell and goodnight, I think I prefer the end of farewell and goodnight, this is still good though

  • now youre pissing me off?

  • this is what i play when im getting ready to go out 4 real.......paul

  • me too yo!

  • I would agree with Z2T4 but Metallica's Orion is a very tough contender.

  • Like you say, this is a great instrumental piece, but Orion still nails it everytime. I guess it just depends on your mood.

  • Best non-verbal song EVER. By far.

  • By far? Shit dude, that's saying a lot :) I love this song and all but I like others pretty close, Black Dog and Moby Dick by Zeppelin, Winter Solstice by The Tea Party, a few Dead Can Dance numbers...so much good stuff out there...always loved the mood of this one, sorta dreamy.

  • He said "non-verbal" as in instrumental. And still. It's NOT the best. Even though I love this song.

  • this song makes me regret not acting on an opportunity i had to tell someone that i really cared about them

  • Very nostalgic ..man thins brings back so many memories

  • Stupenda

  • componist

  • beautiful...made me cry

  • TheSP Sweet PunkS =)

  • I have been a SP fan since Gish, but for whatever reason, this song is the most powerful, passioate song that SP has produced. Its right up there with Tonight Tonight
