  • Ipswich, Suffolk, had a whopper storm on that Monday evening! I remember I was sent out into the rain to drive everyone's cars round to the church entrance so that nobody else got wet. It was (and I think still is) the biggest 24-hour rainfall for Ipswich.

  • I used to love the old thunderstorm symbols and all the symbols really. Love these oldie weather videos - simple to understand and good to look at - New map - brown and childish blobs and the Midlands the new map races by it to focus on London - The Midlands has become obsolete ):

  • plus the end summary for the days ahead on the new map does Edinburgh, Dublin, Cardiff and London - where's the Midlands again!?

  • The one thing I do miss about the old maps was the when they did the winds, different colours to show the warmth! lol

  • Wow I loved this sort of weather when I was a kid I always looked forward to it after the BBC Six 0 Clock news in 1998 that was the best ever

  • this style of map was way better than the rubbish of today

  • I can still remember the picture right at the start of the forecast, I wish they would have kept this style map

  • Ditto. On the new one there's a huge bias towards the South. This one was also easier to understand.

  • Yes the new map, moves about, quite annoying, the snow looks the same as fog, the rain the same as frost, hate new map
