@Billiever4life Hormones in our food supply is a potential huge problem. Residual hormones can be found in food and water. There have even been pharmaceuticals found in drinking water. Will a Berkey system remove them? It depends on what exactly the contaminates are, and I would not want to make a blanket statement either way for any water purification system.
@HoodwinkedbyanAngel You want to check out the PF-2 filter for fluoride, which are on our site.
As for why exactly you want one, it depends on your needs. Protecting yourself from city water or preparing yourself for a water problem caused by a natural or man-made disaster.
Steve I went to your site. What is the difference between the black and the ceramic filters? How many gallons do they each filter. Does the price include two filters? Do I have to use tap water with them? If I use lake water do I have to use Chlorine after running them through the filters?
@LDSPrepper The prices include two filtration elements for any unit (except the Go Berkey, which only takes one). You don't have to use tap water, and you do not have to use chlorine after using a Berkey for lake water.
We typically recommend the Black Berkey elements because they remove more (like lead). The Black Berkey elements are considered water purifiers where the ceramic elements are considered filters. Kinda a short answer due to space, but you won't go wrong w/ Black Berkey elements.
The scotchbrite green pad to wipe the filter sounds insane. Buy new filters freaks.

@healthinnovations Thank you for your reply. That's what I needed to know before I ordered.
