20 years ago since most of the world heard squires guitaring, and people still aren't ready for him, probably the most underated band ever, apart from maybe the roses
Squire you legend not as good as brown live you should go see him reunite with manni and reni the one and only stone roses and fuckin save music coz todays music is fuckin shit viva the roses!
Ye, but Ian Brown is even WORSE live, its shocking how many effects he uses to boost his vocals in the studio. Dont get me wrong though, hes a great songwriter!!
Great guitar work. He plays, stands, poses and wears his guitar like Jimmy Page and has the same sound and imitates his style. He should play in a real rock band.
a loss musically i suppose. no one ever bought his solo records though. it does seem as though he's found happiness through painting. i think that's a bit more important.
Great song, I forgot how folky they were. PS I picked the singer in my Taxi last night ( he was playing the musician in Leicester). I was telling how crap I am on the guitar. He was really nice guy. Check him out he's touring u.k at the moment!
I love this song, and particularly the excellent riff. I was gutted when The Seahorses split up because I felt like I was only just getting to know their stuff.
chris (hey i saw him break records and break ground live in detroit on the seahorse tour) but not on this vid or any of the other live vids
and ian...
sounds awesome still to this day on those handfull of songs the roses must have practiced the hell out of on their first promo-tour, but thats still only "in key"
but whats up with all three singers choking at the good bits? their vocals all sound timid and afraid to hit the notes on the good-bit cool video moments
is it the lead singer's intention to fashion himself after Syd Barrett or am I imagining things here? He looks like a youngish Syd Barrett from the Opel days...g'head and ask me if he sounds and plays like him ? Um, not quite as prolific, but none the less listenable. Oh, where did my Stone Roses go? Squires ode to cock rock riffs, amen.
squires is an important guitarist of say, the history of rock. His sound is unique and has been imitated throughout the years. In a world of imitators there's always only one original. He kind of stands and plays like Jimmy Page a bit? No? Brilliant!
i saw them support U2 in scotland sept 97, one of the best gigs I've ever seen. 2 amazing bands for the price of 1 ticket. I remember me and my m8 pissing ourselves for Squire to get to the solo of this. Miss them now tho :(
Squire you fucking legend! Will always be a major influence on me picking up the guitar way back in the 90s.

I don't know how anyone can compare this singer to Liam Gallagher or the Seahorses to Oasis, period.
Squire is a legend, I agree, but the reason they never did ANYTHING is 'cos Chris Helme could NOT sing live.
Liam Gallagher was always dead-on when it came to hitting notes live. I went to many Oasis and Seahorses concerts.

what it would take to make Squire come back to music once more and give us the pleasure of hearing that sex guitar of his???
lilackitsune 2 years ago
if Hendrix was alive today the only guitar player he would dig is Squires. There's no one else even close.
cgoracle 2 years ago 3
They should have been bigger than Oasis at the time. They had the tunes, they had the talent, they had the Squire. End of.
