  • Squire you fucking legend! Will always be a major influence on me picking up the guitar way back in the 90s.

  • john wrote this on the fnal roses tour it was going to be the next single which never got recorded,,,,,,TRUE

  • chris helme looks like the younger terry syvester when he joined the hollies in '68! sings a little like him too ... sounds good!

  • I saw Chrise Helme do a an acoustic set last year. He was charming and brilliant.

  • saw chris support shed seven on thursday in york,,if he had any demons they are long gone his perfomance was awesome

  • Best live performance of this song on Youtube

  • chris helme went off his rocker, thats why they split, chris got hooked on crack and never really was the3 same afterwards

  • I don't know how anyone can compare this singer to Liam Gallagher or the Seahorses to Oasis, period.

Squire is a legend, I agree, but the reason they never did ANYTHING is 'cos Chris Helme could NOT sing live.

Liam Gallagher was always dead-on when it came to hitting notes live. I went to many Oasis and Seahorses concerts.

  • what a fantastic belter

  • what it would take to make Squire come back to music once more and give us the pleasure of hearing that sex guitar of his???

  • if Hendrix was alive today the only guitar player he would dig is Squires. There's no one else even close.

  • They should have been bigger than Oasis at the time. They had the tunes, they had the talent, they had the Squire. End of.

  • does anyone know what pedals john used for the seahorses???

trying to put a tribute band together...sound letting us down..

    please,please,please!!!!!!

  • @hightensile well sounds like he's got a flanger on for most of this song, that'd be a good start.

  • Well done, boys! I feel 20 years younger every time I listen to this.

  • 20 years ago since most of the world heard squires guitaring, and people still aren't ready for him, probably the most underated band ever, apart from maybe the roses

  • yeah man, fuck these guys that know nothin. one of the most underated bands of the nineties along with ocean colour scene

  • Comment removed

  • How did they get Frodo in their band?

  • he was like some busker they found out side woolwerths or somthing he sounded good so they let him in the band

  • @earthstick the same way i got your mum into bed

  • Ha ha ha.. Squire on heroin?? Get your facts straight. Please, for your own sake.

  • Agreed!

  • Squire you legend not as good as brown live you should go see him reunite with manni and reni the one and only stone roses and fuckin save music coz todays music is fuckin shit viva the roses!

  • Amazing voice live... something Ian Brown could never do.

  • Really do you think, i know Browny hasn't got the best vocals in the world but check out the horses at Glasto shocking.

  • Ye, but Ian Brown is even WORSE live, its shocking how many effects he uses to boost his vocals in the studio. Dont get me wrong though, hes a great songwriter!!

  • strap on saaly chased us down the alley , we feared for our behinds !! ha fukin quality

  • really good voice actually. live too.

  • Great guitar work. He plays, stands, poses and wears his guitar like Jimmy Page and has the same sound and imitates his style. He should play in a real rock band.

  • squire for president!

awesome! where have all the melodic songs gone nowadays?

  • What happened to Squire???

  • he's painting.... what a loss no?

  • a loss musically i suppose. no one ever bought his solo records though. it does seem as though he's found happiness through painting. i think that's a bit more important.

  • He was on the BBC news last night...talking stuff...

  • proper tune ! :)

  • Blinded by the Sun by these guys is also excellent, and The Stone Roses -- how good are they?!!

    John Squire, you rule!

  • Great song, I forgot how folky they were. PS I picked the singer in my Taxi last night ( he was playing the musician in Leicester). I was telling how crap I am on the guitar. He was really nice guy. Check him out he's touring u.k at the moment!

  • strap on sally chase me down the alley .best line ever

  • saw chris helme other day in york, awesome fella, plus he likes ryan adams, saw him at his gig too

  • Chris is gigging with his band 'The Yards'

    x

  • I love this song, and particularly the excellent riff. I was gutted when The Seahorses split up because I felt like I was only just getting to know their stuff.

  • great song

  • fantastic song!where's the official video of the single?..I remember the video but I can't find it

  • squire is god!!!

  • hail to aleister crowley! love is the law.

  • john shouldnt be singing on his own

chris (hey i saw him break records and break ground live in detroit on the seahorse tour) but not on this vid or any of the other live vids

    and ian...

sounds awesome still to this day on those handfull of songs the roses must have practiced the hell out of on their first promo-tour, but thats still only "in key"

on half the songs of one album

    they all got the ability

  • whats the deal?

    john rocks on guitar

    ok we got that

but whats up with all three singers choking at the good bits? their vocals all sound timid and afraid to hit the notes on the good-bit cool video moments

    ability

  • This is an awesome song. Remember hearing/watching this for the first time on VH1 & thinking "Fuck! Shoulda recorded that!". This'll do though!

  • Sounds suspiciously dat tape to me. And Beatley. Still love it though!

  • sick

  • quality....lyrics outstanding, band outstanding, thank you.....COME BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAck!!!

  • What happened to the 'Blinded By The Sun' Video?

  • is it the lead singer's intention to fashion himself after Syd Barrett or am I imagining things here? He looks like a youngish Syd Barrett from the Opel days...g'head and ask me if he sounds and plays like him ? Um, not quite as prolific, but none the less listenable. Oh, where did my Stone Roses go? Squires ode to cock rock riffs, amen.

  • the seahorses is an anagram of 'he hates roses',no chance of reforming then!!!!

  • They want us to believe that but Squire claims it to be a sheer coincidence.

  • they will the day after man city win the champions league (mani)

  • its also an anogram of she's a rose to, so who knows they both still play roses tracks

  • fukin amazin motherfukin soloin

  • look at the squire go!!!!!!

  • Jeez, I'm getting old. How could I have missed this band? Thanks for posting--I never would have known of them otherwise.

  • squires is an important guitarist of say, the history of rock. His sound is unique and has been imitated throughout the years. In a world of imitators there's always only one original. He kind of stands and plays like Jimmy Page a bit? No? Brilliant!

  • Absolutely fucking amazing!

  • what a riff by squire. good band and then one day theyre gone. weird.

  • anyone knows what the singers doin now?

  • He's in a band called The Yards

  • Lovely! this is the sort of stuff that got me into good music!

  • Legend of a song

  • i saw them support U2 in scotland sept 97, one of the best gigs I've ever seen. 2 amazing bands for the price of 1 ticket. I remember me and my m8 pissing ourselves for Squire to get to the solo of this. Miss them now tho :(

  • squiiiiiiiiiiiire!

  • why did they split they must be nuts!!!!

  • omg I'm not the only one who likes Seahorses!

  • From channel four - TFI Friday. I remember seeing it.

  • squire on fire like a tyre.......ran outta rhymes- yeh i thought they were good- of course i prefered the roses- good vid all the same
