HEY! New documentary on the desert scene has a new trailer on youtube. Won't let me do a link, but search " Lo Sound Desert (Trailer 2012) " Features Homme, Alfredo, Brant, Nick, Eddie Glass and even some shots of my old and current bands (Solarfeast and HORNSS). Spread the word, as they're looking for some funding to finish the thing.
@lavinus It's pretty bloody hard to copy, in my opinion. Start off by playing on the neck (obviously) and pulling your fingers way back before every hit with your wrist... then when you hit it it's somewhere between a tap and a pluck. Then start doing it really hard. I still can't hit the bottom two strings as hard as he does.
The lineup that night was Kuyss, Fu Manchu and Sugartooth. I was there. Weird venue that alternated as a rock club on some nights and also some kind of strip/S&M club on others. There were little rooms in back where I guess people got their private dances when the place was a strip club. In between bands they were showing weird videos of people getting their genitalia pierced on TV. It was trippy. Excellent, memorable show.
I saw them at a tiny bar in Grand Rapids later this summer, and Garcia was so toasted they had to carry him on the stage, then they carried him off durring the jam portion of 50 Million Trip, and Josh sang most of the remaining songs. But Garcia was the same way, rolling around on stage. The bass shook the crap right out of my colon.
im all for creating your own guitarsound and going your own way, but I would drown a kitten for the one josh has there. specially the one during the solo:O
LOL I like how you put that. I've heard that Josh will purposely lie about or just not answer questions regarding his pedals and equipment he uses and I can understand that. It's important to have a unique sound.
This is the third best lineup. This lineup with Brant instead of Alfredo was better. Then the second lineup(Nick,Josh,John, Brant) was second. This lineup was third...then the lineup with Chris is last.
Blag Dahlia, cuz the Dwarves stop playing for a long time after the Sugarfix tour (That was in 1993, Nick Oliveri was playing Rhythm guitar back then, not bass)

Scott Reeder has an insane plucking hand fingerstyle. Does anyone have an idea what it's called or how he does it?
lavinus 1 year ago
@lavinus I noticed Geezer was doing something similar in the Black Sabbath live in Paris video from 1970
thejacksaints 1 year ago
@thejacksaints - spot on. One of the best examples is when Sabbath played Live Aid - keep your eyes on Geezers fingers during Paranoid.

@lavinus It's an advanced technique called "beating the hell out of the strings."
