  • I wonder why their is no sign on the crossing gates indicating the number of tracks?? There is clearly more than 1 track !

  • Just to verify, was that 6078?

  • those are actually electronic bells, they do sound like the mechanical bell but dont let that fool ya

  • As far as what my calendar looks like right now I plan to squeeze in at least one trip to Mountain Road this Summer.

  • Nice one 5* he's flying!

  • Thanks, I like the locals on this line, unfortunately this one, V02, goes from Waverly onward, so I don't see him at Ivor or Windsor. I've always liked the fact that the locals run with SD40-2s a lot of the time. Sometimes they run the ex-Southern high hoods (see "NS V02 westbound at New Bohemia"), but mostly it's the ex-N&W versions with the low nose.

  • AWESOME HORN!!

  • I loved every minute of hearing this horn. Most of the locals have either ex-N&W or ex-Southern SD40-2 locomotives for power. Most of the mainline freights are invaded with Catfish and GEVOs (more often Catfish), although sometimes older power (SD60, SD70, etc) as well as some ex-Conrail units can be seen. Thanks for the comment!

  • that RS5T sounds like heaven.

  • Yeah, I loved hearing it! That horn sounded awesome!

  • at 0:43 it sounded like someone hit a gong.

  • Haha it did a little bit.

  • Hey man, great video, just posted a video reply of my -ex Norfolk & Western Leslie RS5, like this one. Mine is what this one should sound like if cleaned up a little, hopefully it'll be saved when the engine is retired.

  • we are going back to fostoria and mabie indiana

  • i love the horn it sounds fouled ooohhh RS5T i thought it was a RS3L my mistake

    the kid from fostoria

well seeya in fostoria wen we head out this summer joey

    regards Paul (Sam says HI)

  • I'm actually not going to Fostoria this summer. I pick a different place to go every year. But good look at Fostoria! Thanks for the positive comment! This was a nice surprise of a horn!

  • try ayer massachusets, theres always trains every day!

  • This line is fairly active. It gets about 20 trains daily. It was up to 30, but the coal traffic just dropped because of the economy. It'll probably go back up, once the Heartland Corridor is finished, double stacks will be able to run to and from the Midwest. I also heard something about unit grain trains being added to this line, which will be neat, because this line doesn't see grain trains. My guess is that the line will end up with about 50 trains daily by the summer with the new trains.

  • Take that back. 50 may be a little high, but with the coal/empties, additional new intermodals, and grain trains, it should be at least 40 daily. I don't know though, it may reach 50 daily at point. We'll just have to see... :)

  • That should read "good luck" not "good look" Sorry about that.

  • Great catch, I have yet to see an ex NW SD40-2 with one of those dying RS5Ts..im favoriting this.

  • Thanks, bud! I appreciate that! It was nice to hear and see this rare event!

  • sweet!!! love the horn!!!! looked like a grain local

  • Yeah, it had just finished switching out a grain elevator down the line. I waited ten excrutiating minutes for this train.

  • Great video plus one hell of a nice sounding Leslie RS5T....Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!!WOAH.

    Bryan

  • Thanks, Bryan! The horn sounded great! That was a dead giveaway that this was once a Norfolk & Western unit back in the day.

  • Nice squeal to the horn, love it!

  • Thanks! I loved the sound of this horn. I especially loved the haunting harmonies as he blared for Robin Road and a private driveway crossing (crossbuck-only). That's why the horn blared so many times.

  • youre right. magic that only the RS5T can create.
