  • Quite normal for diesels to smoke when cold-but when its hot and the fuel atomizes in the cylinder easier and more efficiently it would run much cleaner

  • Some of 'em start easier than others. Big diesels take a lot of cranking torque to get them up to firing speed. They usually employ start windings on the generators w/ big batteries, or used compressed air starters.
