  • Who is Yuri ? Is he dead ? 'Cause i know nothing about him :S Great voices :33

  • @Alexawrgren He's alive afaik, here's some info about his appearence from wiki, you can read more there: Wichniakov is an archetypal Basso Profondo. He stands over 193 cm tall, and weighs over 90 kilos. He is rarely seen without a thick beard, and performs in an all black cassock. His career has spanned almost 30 years

  • non ho mai sentito una voce più sgradevole di basso.E'un rutto continuo, altro che rumorosa.

  • What makes this more than vocal fry is in part the overtones. The overtones vibrating at a higher frequency and in resonance with the fundamental tone act as a glue to smooth and enrich the fundamental. And this is what we perceive as singing. Many of you tenors think you are hitting the same note because you are hitting the same overtones. But you are not hitting the fundamental. Your brain is latching onto the wrong frequency when you listen. Psycho-acoustics is complex.

  • @danielmrussell Indeed! You are absolutely correct, great comment.

  • Thank you for this God-inspired sung prayer! I would be very happy to actually see the words too. Could you, please, post them? Thank you and God bless you, my brother :)

  • He must have a really really sore throat after all of this!

  • People...Just accept that there are 10 people in the world who can sing as low as in this video. Don't try to compare your low notes with them and don't ever believe that someone would hear your weak whispered low C at all if a whole choir sings above your note .Can you even imagine how powerful their voices are? If one of these profondos would sing in your room, you would feel like girl and run away. Stop this crappy "who can hit the lowest note"- discussion and enjoy some damn great singing!

  • @Bomenpulp Or you can stop belittling any singer that is a profondo. They're not better than anyone else, they're just different.

  • @LordAngus1992

"They're not better than anyone else, they're just different."

That's what I wanted to say.

  • @Bomenpulp absolutely right but "ten known" its important to remark that I've been classified as basso profondo in the national musical school in Honduras, yeah! not the most famous in the world of course but music is music in earth as is in jupiter. Many of who has basso profondo tessitura simply have no oportunity or time to sing as a professional as these choirs friend.

  • so, can any one tell me about Orthodox Church? hearing this, one wants to know what it stands for...

  • @plagueofangels666 Please don't make this video a site for discussion about religion. I'm a non-religigous from Norway myself, and I have nothing to to with Orthodoxy. I just find the music very beautiful. Please just enjoy the music, and look it up on Wikipedia if you're interested about the Russian Orthodox Church.

  • @gudpeder nyeah okay, kinda hate it too when that happens.

    FORGET WHAT I SAID PEOPLE

    btw cool music

  • @gudpeder La religion h'est pas tabou! Si les commentaires la concernant ne vous intéressent pas, ne les lisez pas, simplement, mais n'empêchez pas les autres de parler de ce qu'ils ressentent. Merci.

  • @MrNivelle I do not agree. Fortunately, since I am the one who uploaded this video, I am in position to delete comments I find irrelevant to the content of the video. Of course, I'm not saying that religion is taboo, and should not be discussed. But YouTube is not the place to do it, it always ends up with people fighting and saying harmful things to each other. Go somewhere else if you are unable to just sit down and enjoy the beautiful music!

  • Sorry, I don't have the time to actually write down ALL the lyrics verbatim.

  • It's obvious that one of them not only is stronger, but the intonation is much better. The other one is having intonation issues and was sharp for much of the time. Perhaps it was just a weird day for one of them, because both are very impressive basses, no doubt.

  • Maybe some of the Russian viewers can help us out with the lyrics here?

  • @gudpeder the lyrics are in an acient type of Russian, called Staro-Slovyanski,like old english

  • @Gidenkidenk I know, it's called Old Church Slavonic in English. But I was hoping that maybe some of the Orthodox Russians knew the lyrics even though they didn't necessarily understand it.

  • @gudpeder Ahh, intresting

  • @gudpeder It's still understandable in russian, I wouldn't say that its too different. They start out praising God and singing praises to him (soloist). Then he sings the Lord's prayer... absolutely amazing!

  • Anyone have the lyrics for this amazing piece?

  • @cryozo I would like to know the lyrics as well. Unfortunately, the CD doesn't come with lyrics. Read the description for more information on the hymn, maybe if you google it you will find it.

  • @gudpeder No luck on google :( I tried to translate "Verily, he is worthy - lyrics" to russian with google translate with no luck either.

  • I'm a baritone, and I can hit a B1. Doesn't sound nearly this good though.

  • @tjtech12 if you can hit a B1, then you are a bass, like i am. not a baritone, man. G2 is as low as most baritones ever have to go. be proud to be a bass!

  • @zs3019 That's not fully correct, Axl Rose can hit an A1, but he is a bass-baritone. so the bloke can still be a baritone.

  • @zs3019 That's not fully correct, man. Paul McCartney, a low TENOR can dive down to an A1. Most low baritones can easily hit B1's. He can be a low baritone or even a baritone with good range.

  • @panda123456789ed I strongly disagree with everything you just said. Not even a normal bass is able to "easily" hit a B1. And a tenor is DEFINETELY not able to hit an A1 at 55 Hz! Unless, of course, you are talking about vocal fry, which is a completely different vocal technique, and should, in my opinion, not ble taken into account in when discussing vocan range. I would like to see one of those tenors or baritones you refer to fill a church with a rich, ground-shaking basso profondo note.

  • @gudpeder Ah damn! I forgot, you were talking choir! I'm talking about rock singers, they sing with a microphone :P

  • @panda123456789ed You're almost certainly talking about A2 and B2. I know, the number classification system is a little different in different countries...but there is no way that Paul McCartney can sing at 55 Hz. You must be talking about 110 Hz - the "low A" that sits on the bottom space of the bass clef.

  • @Taenyr No dude. The note is in "the girl is mine" with him and Michael Jackson. It's not loud, it's not stable, he used a mic an inch away from his mouth, but it's a double low A. There is no debating it. That's not to say that he is a Russian bass. There is whispering an A1(a2) and then there is shaking a cathedral down with it. Nobody is belittling Vladmir Miller or Yuri Wichniakov. What they have is truly very rare. I've never met an Oktavist.

  • @srs7593 And I mean 55hz.

  • @srs7593 Fair enough. =) Thanks for the info!

  • @Taenyr Paul is a fantastic and naturally gifted tenor, but don't underestimate his sheer persistence and ingenuity. It will take a singer far, sometimes an octave below their perceived range. Reading my comment, it seemed a little condescending, for that I apologize. But yes, 55hz.

  • @srs7593 Don't worry about it. I'm going to try listening for the low A in that song when I hear it now. =D

  • @Taenyr Try grooveshark if it's available where you are.

  • wow lowest i can sing is c in the bass celf but im 13 and its cracks a few sec. ofter i hit it :(

  • @sudiolkp your voice isnt done devoloping until you are about 28 years old and you can alter your voice even more as you age. I am 17 and can sing an octave + some more notes lower than what you can sing. I am waiting and trying to work my voice fully into basso profundo shape, until then I am just a bass.

  • @zs3019 Actually many times male voices don't finish developing until the mid-30s. Work those low notes. As a tenor, I'm jealous, of course.

  • The general consensus is that Wichniakov is more profundo and better. But in this recording Miller is the first soloist and disregarding his position in regards to the mic, it is clear that Miller sounds more powerful and has a much clearer timbre.

  • Its a different timbre than Wichniakov. I have an increased respect for Miller, but I still prefer Wichniakov and his raw power. He has his own overtones in some pieces haha. His voice is very rare, and at this point his best days are behind him. He has been singing professionally since the early 1980's!!

  • 3:10-3:15 classic profondo sound!

  • @pavelkostov Hey bro. Did you notice that right at the 3:10 mark or so they were a bit sharp? Pretty obvious to me, but impressive nevertheless.

  • @randyjsing he also is sharp pretty consistently from 2:20 until then. However, I would not be able to hit that note in the first place, much less hold anything within within an octave of it for a full 6 minutes, regardless of intonation, so it's still impressive.

  • Amazing. I love the low range.

  • kick ass!

  • this is very beautiful, but I guess most of the people find it scary :)

  • does he sing b1 constantly?

  • Indeed.

  • yes, it's very impressive.

    the choir is beautiful.

  • THX, and not Wichinakov, but Wichniakov! :)

  • Oh, haha, that's just a random mistake. I didn't even notice.

  • I thought as much, that's just a mistake, for this sent smiley! :) THX all uploads!

  • the note is a B flat.

  • No, it's just a normal B, one half note below C2.

  • That would be one half step below C2.

  • yes you're right, i was wrong.

  • Wichniakov's name CORRECTLY: Yuri Wichniakov (Jurij Vishnjakov or Vishnyakov), not Victor or Viktor, that's INCORRECT!!! See "Basso Profondo from Old Russia - Popular & Sacred Russian Songs" CD (1999) Soloist: Yuri Wichniakov... See also Wikipedia

  • You are certainly right. I have corrected his name in the titles of all my videos. Thank you.

  • Now who is who?, go speaks first? it is obviously one has a stronger voice and rounder voice while the other has a very reputable voice not as loud but it cannot be denied the fact that these guys are both deep.

  • The more powerful of them is Vladimir Miller. The other one is Victor Wichniakov, who has a even lower range.

  • at 3:10, the classic profondo voice

  • Wichniakov

    _Y3WC6LCZT0

  • this is from a live concert

  • _Y3WC6LCZT0

  • I think Wichniakov might have the more naturally powerful vocal chords (more extended low range), but Miller is just a power house of round tone and great projection!

  • Wichniakov is much more powerful and loud, we have no idea about their positioning in regards to the microphones ect, wichniakov is the more classic example of a russian "profondo" the untrained power ect!

  • Very cool to hear them both together. But you need to get a monster man picture for Miller as well:) (even though we know what he looks like).

  • Quite obviously, Miller is the most powerful.
