In her 'ecosystem" they get run over by cars, killed by hunters and loose dogs. They get sick and have trouble finding food and hunted by predators. She is happy where she is.
Most mammals are happy if they are comfortable, well fed, have enough room to exercise and play, and have companionship.
if you put this animal in the wild now and gave it its "freedom:", it would be dead within days, since it has been raised in a house and has never been in the wild.
I'm sorry.....but I just can't watch these video's enough!! I am absolutely in love with Pua and Stewie (RIP)...they are such awesome unique little critters....and it's so obvious how much you love them....and they you...
A new man?? Ooooh! Get her all dressed up and smelling good! LOL! Gotta impress the hubby! Congrats for her...and you guys! I'm sure you were wrecked when Stewie passed....I was bummed when I read that...
I don't think it was a Martini mate. and under the event that it was, im sure Pua could handle her Alcohol better than most of us viewers. She is a badass.
The closest she got to getting drunk was one New Years. At the time she didn't have a taste for much of anything but her food and ants. Someone offered her their glass of champagne and she grabbed hold of the top with both claws and started chugging. I was called to help pry her loose. She was hyper and running around the rest of the night but she had already been kind of hyper so not sure how much the sparkling wine effected her. Not much alcohol in that anyway.
That's one classy girl! Won't eat blue cheese unless it is served in a martini glass. Just one question, are anteaters partial to vinegar? Well, obviously...but how does that compare to their regular diet. Are ants and grubs and such acidic? I guess that I can look it up but you are our resident expert.
Ants and termites are full or formic acid. Anteaters do not have the stomach acid that other mammals do. They rely on the acid in their food to help them digest it. So they need acid in their diet to help them digest. She gets a little cup of vinegar with her dinner and some is already mixed in the food. She seems to like the white vinegar best.
Free run when watched locked in my room when not. They don't just hang out like cats and dogs do though. When they are up they are very active but they do sleep a lot.
I need to snuggle that thing

Anteaters are awesome. If I had more patience, I'd totally be interested in getting one.
do you just let em hang out around the house like a dog or cat?
