i just got a standard american fender presicion 3 tone sunburst maple fretboard 1.1k$ with case its amazing i can play jazz and get a deep tone-- anything from flea to radiohead i can get just about the exact sound and the bass comes with a case a very nice one :)

dude squiers are the best value on the market. they sound good and don't break the bank. fender p-bass is 1500 min. most ppl don't have that much cash.

and btw? bassists have to be the best musicians in the band. they have to have the theory knowledge of a pianist and the rhythm of a drummer. if you wanna see some talented musicians, look at some jazz bassists. try Jaco or Wooten or NHOP. or flea. get some musical knowledge before you comment on videos.

you make some very good points and i agree, however you can find a number of 500$ fenders. Still however, as a first bass there is no where to look but Squier. ( Well Ibanez and Peavey are also good but that's not the point.)

now If you play it E3 A2 A3 its still G B C ;)

you should really learn the notes on your fretboard

E5 = A = A0

A5 = D = D0

D5 = G = G0

and so on ;)
