  • @dennie6666 There is no VAT in the US. Some states have a sales tax on bullion and coins though.

  • The tipping point is coming ... as more and more people realize how corrupt the paper money system is, they will rush into gold and silver and anything else that has REAL value. Paper has no value ... the whole system is about to crash and burn.

  • I have not used them but, i have used Bullion Direct and Stack's

  • If i can't get it from APMEX I don't want it..........unless i'm at a coin show

  • @cochise12366 What about Northwest Territorial Mint?

  • Do you have Silvereagels ? I do have many of this !Next jahrs 500% !!!

  • HAAHAHAHAHAH! KITCO is v(^-^)v

  • I second the apmex comment, i ordered 150 oz in rounds monday shiped today friday.

  • I don't trust bars. I prefer the actual coins with the money value denomination. If markets crash and shops are closed they won't accept bars because what are they going to do with that melt it....where? if banks, pawns shops or dealers are closed what are you going to barter with in terms of "Currency" if dollar is null and void. Yes silver retains its metal value, but not its currency value to stores, supermarkets, shops who don't care for melt value.

  • Do you think Wal-Mart will be glad to accept a $100 million note over a 10oz silver bar for supplies?

  • Who knows if they will accept either one, there might be a complete cashless society with RFID transactions. Fuck that!

There are no certainties in life, that's why I diversify. Those who believe in "I'm right & your wrong" mentality are fools waiting to be made an example of. I don't put my trust in one thing its about survival of the smartest. Whether its metals, food, weapons, shelter, money...etc You need to be balanced out in case one thing won't work chance are another thing will.

  • "Every trillion $ added, would equal $4000 added to the price of gold.

    However ...

Will the metal ever catch up with its real value on paper this time? If it had caught up to its real value the last time around, in 1980, gold should have peaked at 7000 dollars an ounce. And yet it only peaked over $800.

I say in reality, not on paper, gold will peak somewhere near $3000 while silver will probably reach its historic 1/16.

  • how many ounces of silver should one have to survive the coming economic collapse?

  • As much as it takes to keep you alive your whole life. I'd say half a million ounces should keep you alive that long.

  • ten kilos

  • so if I have SIlver bars, when I need cash, where do I "cash in" my silver bars for money?

  • @karenbcz22 Midas resources....this is who I use. I've been buying silver for over 2 years. Midas has market accessability and it's just like any other commodity. Call 800-686-2237 and ask for Frank Rezak at ext. 183. He has been VERY helpful to me and I've used other precious metal brokers at other institutions but he has given me the best insight and service. Oh, and they're not expensive.

  • Pawn shops, Online refineries, Coin Dealers, Ebay, Amozon, ext...

  • @karenbcz22 Question is where do you cash in if they don't want that hunk of metal. Don't get me wrong & alot will argue, but I put some thought into this. If they don't have the need for the metal in bar form which use is for melting for industrial, commercial, medical uses...etc what's it good for the average shop to hold that 100+oz of silver if no one will buy it or banks, shops, supermarkets are closed or only accepting silver currency, maples, liberties, junk silver.

  • @D33Lux Youre right, I rather have 100oz's in 1oz bars and coins than one big 100oz bar!!!!

  • @Sniperman1964 i went same route bought myself silver eagles over large bars. silver eagles before the year is over likely to hit about 70.00 by the end of 2012 likely be about 150.00 dollars an ounce. some people predicting in next 5-10 years silver might even hit 500-1000 dollars an ounce. 100 ounce bars will be damn difficult to sell. most people will not be able to purchase them.

  • get different denominations. there will be no cash, your cash is your silver

  • Hmmm...physical demand is off the charts, the U.S. Minst stopped making Eagles 2 months early in 2009, and Silver stays low in price. When will these silver short derrivatives crash, unleashing the manipulation?

  • Thanks for posting Marc.

    @5:33

Interesting to note that David's expecting "a bit of a rally further in the dollar *for a while*".

  • I'd guess that the assertion that "every trillion dollars added to the money supply adds $4,000 to the price of gold" assumes that every bit of that new money is invested in gold. Still - the video makes a valid point that it's a smart idea to be holding precious metals in these times, as probably a year or two out we'll be seeing a substantial devaluation of the dollar.

  • I work in a coin shop and can tell you we cannot keep bullion in the store.

  • That's probably the best job! I wish i could work in a pawn/coin shop !

  • haha..love teh silver!

    :)

  • Check out APMEX - My fav site. They're quick and they take credit cards. If you find a site that is cheaper, let me know

  • Trusted Bullion is a bit cheaper but they are now having problems with delivery. I use Apmex too.

  • trusted bullion is cheaper.

  • sorry, bullion direct is the one.

  • Cool, thanks! Not much too choose from and they don't have Silver eagles, but still great prices. Are they trustworthy? Have you had business with them before? How reliable and fast is their shipping?

  • I used Bullion Direct and APMEX. APMEX blew them away.

  • @vinny1010 Tulving.

  • @vinny1010 kitco! i love kitco most.

  • "they are not even 100% silver"

    From the US Mint:

Each contains a minimum of one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver.

Do you know something the mint is not telling us?

  • Sorry, I was thinking gold. But still, the price of silver eagles is more than lets say, maples.

Anyway, as long as people hold some kind of physical is better than nothing. Peace

  • I pay about the same for silver eagles and maples. Premiums for both hover around $1.79.

Recently I exchanged some fiat paper for the canadian olympic silver coin with the thunderbird design, paying a steep premium. Bought a tube of them a year ago and loved the design.

On gold eagles, please note that while they are not pure gold, they still contain 1 troy oz of gold.

And yes, holding something is better than nothing.

  • Huh, gold eagles do still have 1 toz, thanks for the heads up.

On a different note, there is still the problem of holding a government mint coin, for the reason that they might in the future claim they still have an interest in that coin and it is the property of the government. Just a thought.

  • Welcome to the underground market.....:-))

  • I think maples can be pretty expensive too, but again it doesnt matter if it's a Toz of Silver Eagle or Maple, To me it's One Toz of Silver! Silver is Silver, why pay more when you don't have to? it's nice to have a mix variety but dont start abusing it.

  • In the US, at least, certain types of bullion coin have different tax regulations regarding sales reporting. Silver and gold American Eagles, for example, are exempt from 1066 form reporting. Some other foreign bullion coins (I dun remember which, off the top of my head) do not enjoy that same reporting exemption, which does make a difference for those who want anonymity. =^[.]^=

  • That's normal and irrelevant.
