Eddie is awesome, and he voiced his opinion, and he was the one trying to do his thing and the douche security guard was just interrupting people for no reason at all. No biggie, and I always respect speaking up when someone is being a goof.
Way to go Eddie! Way to take and humilate a wage slave who was trying to scrape out a living and and enforce the rules that he was told to enforce by the people who were paying him! Good job maintaining a little street cred at the expense of someone who will never be nearly as fortunate as you but who has to do an absolutely thankless job protecting ungrateful, pretentious douchebags like you.
@77tongandeathgrip If that secruity guard was offended or humiliated, then he is a douchebag. Sorry but Eddie didn't really do much; he spent like 15 seconds talking to those guys and everyone forgot about it in 5 seconds time.
@MusicMeUpBaby Even though Eddie Vedder wasn't outwardly rude, he still comes off like a bit of a a douche to me. The security guard doesn't work for him; so where does Eddie get off telling him to do? It isn't like they were beating anyone or anything. They were just trying to enforce the rules of the venue who they work for. Annoying but necessary, underpaid, and thankless. The guard wasn't telling Vedder how to do his job, why should Vedder tell the guard how to do his?
@77tongandeathgrip The fact is that the security guard wouldn't actually have a job without bands such as Pearl Jam performing at that venue, so technically he is kind of working for Pearl Jam, because it is what the fans are paying for. However this is a kind of pointless argument because neither of us know the background of the guard, what Eddie exactly said to him or how the guard took it, or even what the guard was doing, so overall, we are kind of wasting our time.
Eddie shows that you don't need to yell, curse, or be condesending towards someone to get your point across. People could really stand to learn something from this.
Also, what a great cover of one of the most amazing songs.
Notice how he didn't drop a single f-bomb, nor any other curse word and handled the situation nice and calm? You guys like woonoel101 and NoShelter15 could learn from that guy, he's great.
@thedayitriedtodie Don't you get his sarcasim in the first line. Eddie is on stage entertaining the fans that arrived early for Pearl Jam. So he recognised that a crowd was gathering so he played them a Beatles song for fun, entertainment. This was not the main gig.
@thedayitriedtodie are u talking about the song it self or the version of this song that he did cause if youre talking about eather u can go fuck your self !hahahahajust kiddin!
Eddie is the real deal. He is the epitome of what a true artist should be. He speaks his mind but does not come off as an overbearing asshole. He realizes the value of his fans and he stands by them all the well. He does the same for his band. Often the media attempts to single him out but he makes a great effort to showcase his band as whole. Like his music or not, you cant deny that Eddie is one of the greatest guys in rock music.
@trimbie2 "Nothingman" is by far one of there best ever!! I also kinda favor "given to fly" See they have meaning and substance for me! I love their album 5 against one/(Vs) and Ten..But Vitalogy and Yeild I realyy love!! Peace and love and all things music.
Right on. Hummm humm. Put me on a desert island and give me one disk to take and I'm taking Touring Band 2000. Great version of Nothingman Given to Fly, Nothing as it Seems, RVM, Hell what am I saying the thing is great start to finish.
It's called, 'You've got to hide your love away', written by John Lennon. The general consensus is that it's about the Beatles manager Brian Epstein and the fact that he was gay and had to stay in the closet. At that time homosexuality was still very much taboo, even more so for such a high profile person as the manager of the world's most famous pop group.
i was at pearl jam tonight in adelaide australia and there was a total square, being a dick and having a cry about being pushed, and as i am tall, i had all these dicks telling me to go behind them. FUCK THAT! dont go to a concert and expect to be completely comfortable and have full vision at all times.
@smallfatty ...calm it down....you don't know what it is like obviously to stand behind some tall ass dude swaying back and forth...it more annoying than anything else...sounds like your the one whining.
@chazzymurphy haha what ever, dont go to a concert if you dont want to be touched. If you want to see every minute of the concert buy the dvd and save some money.
@smallfatty True, and don't bitch when at a general admission show you get tossed aside like a ragdoll because to me... general admission means front row!!! I'm just playing, it is kinda crazy when people think they are going to be close to the band and be comfortable at the same time.
@smallfatty I was at a Danzig show in '94 and was holding the rail that about 3 feet away from the stage. People tried toi take my spot for about 45 minutes or so. I just stood my ground and didn't let go, every once in a while I'd push them back. Finally, somebody started peeling my fingers back. I threw my elbow up and caught the GIRl! in the face. I felt bad but before I could say sorry I was pushed from behind by her boyfriend... before I could get to my feet my friend had knocked him out.
@NoShelter15 Oh my mistake, I didnt appreciate that you were thst mouth piece for the whole world. Or are you just someone with a very inflated picture of their own self worth? Im going with the latter.
Lets not turn this into some sort of arguement, youve already proven yourself to be a dumb cunt so just fuck off and leave the adults to it.
Yeah, I'm sure nobody wants to see some stupid bullshit from woonoel101, whp's trying to say Australia is a land of convicts. This ain't the sixteen hundreds anymore buddy. HAHAHAH!
HAHAHAH can you fucking read? i said you said that Australia is a fucking land of convicts and that's exactly how you said, see my quote there? You didn't say anything about ''spawned by convicts''
Now go troll someone else, because you've proven you're an idiot and a douchebag.
@woonoel101 Where are you from? Australian people are generally very friendly, helpful, genuine people....can be a bit rough but still good people!!!!
I disagree. Obviously Eddie had a better view of the situation than we did, but nothing is more annoying than not being able to see or hear somebody you've paid money to see because some jackass in front of you is holding up a sign and shit or because some drunk jackass is screaming in vain at the band on stage to play Freebird. People dont need to be pushing and shit either. Come, find a spot, shut the fuck up, stand still , and enjoy the show. cheerin n singin along is good too
@smallfatty .. AMEN! I HEAR YA BRO!! I just saw Soundgarden at Red Rocks in Colorado and they had people who brought there kids and some who wanted to sit down who were asking me to get behind them and out of their way.. If you want to sit down and are worried about keeping still then STAY HOME AND WATCH A DVD!!! All I kept telling people was "Sorry for Party'n!"
I dont really know how to describe them so i just called them grunge! And to me it makes no difference what genre a band is, if theyre good then i like em! like metallica! they change troughout the years but to me are still one of the best!
I hate it when people talk about the Cobain/Vedder thing and how Pearl Jam wasn't punk like Nirvana. Pearl Jam was and still is more punk than Nirvana could have ever been. This is a perfect example of that.
its different anti-stablishment of punk, punk is a genre of music, there are alot of bands that plays reggae, rock, metal, etc. but they arent punk just for being anti-stablishment, if you want to refere to it just say anti-stablishment because everybody gets punk as the genre, no the actual meaning, and just for a fun fact punk meaning is scum, practiclly trash in the dictionary, but we all get it as the punk movement.
Pear Jam is one the few bands out makes at a priority for Promotors to make sure ticket prices remains low at affordable for fans to come and see. In the height of their career in the 90's. When they came to Manila. It was the 1st ever concert from a foreign band I was able to watch on front row. Free-seating or NO Seats keeps the prices of tickets low. I remember paying just PhP 700
In contrast to when NIN Farewell Tour in Manila. VIP Seated tickets are sold at P 4,500. Stupid
see pearl jam had an incident back in 98....when 8 fans died... due too no seating & mudd...i know a real concert should be free dancing..but when people get killled not coool....i mean this was past their ol alternative era and people were still getting killed.
sorry to be a typical no it all Pearl Jam fan but, It was acuttaly in 2000. June 30, 2000 at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. And 9 people were crushed to death. Its sung about in at least two songs that I know of, "Love Boat Captain" and "Arc". Both songs are found on their 2002 album, "Riot Act".
that security guy probably felt like the biggest douche in the universe. I mean god, when Eddie Vedder stops a Beatles tune to call you out on your lameness, you're pretty much a tool.
Ah ok, thanks for answering, love how i get a thumbsdown for asking a question, i wasnt being sarcastic lol, i really wanted to know, ive never been to a live PJ show, although i own plenty of the CDs, and id never heard about this.
Just got home from a Green Day Concert, They rocked the Spectrum in Philly
,her you go my Spanish friend.
"Excuse me sir, what are you guys talking about. What? It's alright for now, but you asked her to put that sign down what was that all about? She has to put that sign down? Just settle down we just started the evening...every one's real cool right now, there's no problems lets not start any now."
think about it...if you paid to get in, and some bitch held up a sign that blocked your view...would you not mind? the guard did the right thing. eddie shouldnt make the guard look bad or he might FORGET to give a shit when some fan attacks eddie. shouldnt make your protection look like chumps.
I did't take a side!! right or wrong!! Read what I wrote!! I said I was there in one comment, and in the other comment I helped someone out who did't understand english to well.
If there's a 'bitch' blocking your view... you should have bought better tickets. I don't get this seated concert thing at all... I mean... Where is the party???
you can be seated anywhere and have someone in front of you hold up a big sign that blocks you, you fucking idiot. what kind of a prick are you to simply tell people to solve their problems with money. you want a party, go out in the woods and drink with your stupid pals. people come to a concert to see the artist, not the wild tribute from a bunch of douchebags like you.
Yeah, I was at that show, up on the lawn. Also at that show Eddie came out with 2 beers, and said that he promise the night before that he would give every one free beers, but today there was a 2 drink limit to buying beers, so he took a sip and passed the 2 beers down to the pit. He told everyone to take a sip and pass it.
in response to the earlier debate about hippie vedder or grunge vedder, eddie vedder has always been alternative rock and he has very liberal views so you should chill your both somwhat right,
it makes it hard if the guard was told that there were to be no signs, if that's what the case was...he's just doing his job.
Of course Eddie was right there's no harm in someone holding a sign up. And if someone had a sign up that offended Eddie he would just let security no, and they could do something about it. but to the guard tuff situation! But someone's gtta do it...right!
That's about it. The guard wasn't particularly hostile that I could see. If he was enforcing a rule, yeah, it's going to be seen as unpopular--then change the rule. But don't send that guy out there and ridicule him from the stage. He could just as easy be the one singing, and Vetter be the security guard working part time. Actually, this clip is mistitled. It should be "Vetter Briefly Pauses To Mildly Nudge Security Worker." Not much to see here.
This was written by John Lennon about their manager Brian Epstein who was homosexual. It was a crime to be gay in the 60's hence the title "You've got to hide your love away ".
dudes pourin his heart out into the song and that guard was phuk-n up the vibe wit his negative waves, but the guards tryin to do his job, lot of responsibility in security .
Eddie is awesome, and he voiced his opinion, and he was the one trying to do his thing and the douche security guard was just interrupting people for no reason at all. No biggie, and I always respect speaking up when someone is being a goof.

I dont really know how to describe them so i just called them grunge! And to me it makes no difference what genre a band is, if theyre good then i like em! like metallica! they change troughout the years but to me are still one of the best!
terror666087 2 years ago 4
i had to comment on this because my two favorite bands are metallica and pearl jam. you must have a great taste in music.

Gotta disagree dude.. what about Vitalogy? In many respects their grungiest album, in my opinion.
notjustastoner 2 years ago 4
Fair enough. I always thought of Vitalogy as a more punkish record, but I can understand what you're saying.

I hate it when people talk about the Cobain/Vedder thing and how Pearl Jam wasn't punk like Nirvana. Pearl Jam was and still is more punk than Nirvana could have ever been. This is a perfect example of that.
CourtyardPigeon 2 years ago
dude.........they arent punk in any fucking way, their grunge
13mexmex 2 years ago 5
punk is anti-establishment....and Pearl Jam certainly is...
CourtyardPigeon 2 years ago
its different anti-stablishment of punk, punk is a genre of music, there are alot of bands that plays reggae, rock, metal, etc. but they arent punk just for being anti-stablishment, if you want to refere to it just say anti-stablishment because everybody gets punk as the genre, no the actual meaning, and just for a fun fact punk meaning is scum, practiclly trash in the dictionary, but we all get it as the punk movement.

lmfao fuckin eddie vedder rules...i bet that security guard felt really small after that...lmao xD

Stupid

anybody notice that he's so flustered that he fucks up when he comes back in?
mccarthedude 2 years ago
see pearl jam had an incident back in 98....when 8 fans died... due too no seating & mudd...i know a real concert should be free dancing..but when people get killled not coool....i mean this was past their ol alternative era and people were still getting killed.

sorry to be a typical no it all Pearl Jam fan but, It was acuttaly in 2000. June 30, 2000 at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. And 9 people were crushed to death. Its sung about in at least two songs that I know of, "Love Boat Captain" and "Arc". Both songs are found on their 2002 album, "Riot Act".

They should do a reality show on security guards who get no appreciation. EDDIE IS GREAT.
TiEnCrAnE 2 years ago
that security guy probably felt like the biggest douche in the universe. I mean god, when Eddie Vedder stops a Beatles tune to call you out on your lameness, you're pretty much a tool.

Where is the rest of PJ? Are you sure this isnt just a solo concert?
Shepherd492 2 years ago
Eddie comes out early as a surprise to fans because he figured it's the best way to get people there for the opening bands. Works great actually.
CourtyardPigeon 2 years ago 5
Ah ok, thanks for answering, love how i get a thumbsdown for asking a question, i wasnt being sarcastic lol, i really wanted to know, ive never been to a live PJ show, although i own plenty of the CDs, and id never heard about this.

he's like "opening" for the opening band lol

Just got home from a Green Day Concert, They rocked the Spectrum in Philly
,her you go my Spanish friend.
"Excuse me sir, what are you guys talking about. What? It's alright for now, but you asked her to put that sign down what was that all about? She has to put that sign down? Just settle down we just started the evening...every one's real cool right now, there's no problems lets not start any now."
hayes1181 2 years ago
think about it...if you paid to get in, and some bitch held up a sign that blocked your view...would you not mind? the guard did the right thing. eddie shouldnt make the guard look bad or he might FORGET to give a shit when some fan attacks eddie. shouldnt make your protection look like chumps.

I did't take a side!! right or wrong!! Read what I wrote!! I said I was there in one comment, and in the other comment I helped someone out who did't understand english to well.
hayes1181 2 years ago
If there's a 'bitch' blocking your view... you should have bought better tickets. I don't get this seated concert thing at all... I mean... Where is the party???
Where are the jumping and dancing fans?
prlnds 2 years ago
you can be seated anywhere and have someone in front of you hold up a big sign that blocks you, you fucking idiot. what kind of a prick are you to simply tell people to solve their problems with money. you want a party, go out in the woods and drink with your stupid pals. people come to a concert to see the artist, not the wild tribute from a bunch of douchebags like you.

Yeah, I was at that show, up on the lawn. Also at that show Eddie came out with 2 beers, and said that he promise the night before that he would give every one free beers, but today there was a 2 drink limit to buying beers, so he took a sip and passed the 2 beers down to the pit. He told everyone to take a sip and pass it.
hayes1181 2 years ago
Could you please write here what did Vedder says there? It is because I am not a good english listener. Thanks in advance.

in response to the earlier debate about hippie vedder or grunge vedder, eddie vedder has always been alternative rock and he has very liberal views so you should chill your both somwhat right,

it makes it hard if the guard was told that there were to be no signs, if that's what the case was...he's just doing his job.
Of course Eddie was right there's no harm in someone holding a sign up. And if someone had a sign up that offended Eddie he would just let security no, and they could do something about it. but to the guard tuff situation! But someone's gtta do it...right!
fightingRazor 2 years ago 2
