This scene was more disturbing to me than any in this series......I LOVED Deadwood, and miss it greatly....had alot of deep and serious scenes....but this one....*shakes head*....but, well played by all.. What a fuckin' show...DAMN I miss it.
@nogov4us Fuck off with your rose-tinted vision of the west. The fact is the American West was an extremely violent place where murder, rape and genocide were prevalent. These are the foundations that America was built on.
@hschan4 yes it was all those things you mentioned, but just like you, the psychopaths were thank God few and far between and not predominant as this tv series would have us believe. If it were, America would never had made it to the degenerate state it is finding itself in right now, and still, I think most of americans are still not as debased as the people portrayed in this tv show. But they're getting pretty close, as shown by your comment.
Is it just me, or did Tollver's voice crack slightly on the line "When you were supposed to be a man and showin’ her the fuckin’ rules!", suggesting some slight guilt. But more likely, that he was raised predominantely by his mother/ had a poor father figure, and hated the side of himself he saw in Miles? Or the like.
I hated this little minx ferret. But sounds she has a career now. I am very surprised at that. But I admit her part was convincing cause I liked her getting her brains bashed in.
This show is NOT for the little hearted. Best Series Ever Made.
he was severely weakend, by being stabbed, having jodi leave him, This other guy in this clip abandons him, and he suffers from his wound. by the time hearst arrives Tolliver knew that he was in no condition to go up agasint hearst and his army of mercenaries, he was looking out for number 1.
I remember reading a review that said even Ian McShane could done a better job in this scene than Powers Boothe. There isn't a higher complement for an actor.
Ewwww Cy Tolliver is fucking evil, I like how he kinda gloats over them. though if I was cy I would have shot the boy, but chained the girl up in the cellar and rented her out for a dime a plug.---- ha ha who's more evil now Mr. Tolliver
@zackhanscom Nope, In season one or two there is him in a sexual encounter with one his girls. He just great at being an ass hole with wicked creative temper. This scene always turns me on..
@zackhanscom He killed the boy first... He recognized a con and acted on it. Flora and Miles got what was coming to them. This was NOT the place to try and fuck around, and they made a big mistake. Even Flora recognized that they were fucking up when she was talking to Miles over at the Gem.
I wish Billy the Kid would've paid Deadwood a visit and said hello to this guy played by Powers boothe. He could've been 22 and brought the kid more fame
@IHateBarnett True, as soon as she starting stealing from Joanie and Cy...all I could think about is not that 'They're going to get away' but, 'This is Deadwood; they're going to get caught, and it's not going to be pretty what's going to happen to them'.

the wild west was wild, but not this perverted. Even outlaws had some morals. But again, this is Hollywood, Satan`s children.

@nogov4us lol this show made swearengen a good guy. there is no character in this show half as heinous as swearengen was in real life.

@DemilichFan Swearengen is the perfect example of politicians, lawyers, and bankers in contemporary society.

I might find a shred of undrstanding for killing those kids, but making Joanie kill her was pure fucking evil on Cy's part.
Sometimes I wonder which one was the more twisted fuck; Al or Cy. And I would have to say the latter.

The weird thing about it all was that it was the boy who was probably the most innocent in this case. Unique in deadwood.
There was a hint, not strong but that Flora was a predator, extremely dangerous and that she enjoyed killing.
Still it was a great scene, the difference between Al and Sy. One enjoys it the other does it for business. You choose the order.

As disturbing and gruesome as this scene is, it is another example of the pure brilliance of 'Deadwood'.
This series SO deserves a fitting and proper end.

Good acting I suppose.
