  • Why is her voice so familiar? She must've done alot of voice-overs over the years..wait..is she the SAME woman who was in Valley of the Dolls..?

  • @is2daytuesday Mary Ann Mobley and the movie is Young Dillinger 1965.

  • Despite all the efforts to make the scene dramatic, it comes off as kind of bland, and maybe a little silly. First, the scene has no context. That hurts. It's sort of static in terms of camera work too. But maybe the scene's biggest shortcoming is that both actors are portraying the same angry-hurt emotion. If one character were quieter, or more shy than the other there would be more contrast and it would come off as a better dramatic scene. Just my opinion.

  • The scene works as a single take. There is no real call or sense for cutting to Close-Ups since the camera follows and recomposes along with the actors. To this, the skill of the Camera Assistant should be credited for his ability to move with the actors with fluidity. The problem is with some of the blocking--too much profile staging, and the lighting. Too much of Mary Ann Mobley's actions are lost in shadows on the left of her face.

  • The acting was fine. One camera doesn't give the dramatic effect, as said by elc1960. Bad acting is Ronald Reagan.

  • Nick Adams was a terrific actor. I also feel he's underrated, and he's one of my favorites. I believe this film is Young Dillinger. I hope it's released on DVD.

  • @coldfire8765 yes that sounds like young dillinger

  • See: Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolfe 1966. Real talent can pull off scenes like this.

  • I beg to differ, its not the acting, its the one-camera lack of multi-angle editing. Without that even today's actors would get this same effect. You should notice that with today's editing, the editor will do a good job of making a scene last long enough before the point of non-believability and then switch out away from the angle. Today's actors would ask for line coach in a heartbeat and would not be expected to go through this long of a scene all at once. Blame the director for this.

  • @blackdiamondrider i wouln't really blame the director. It should be like this, with all the camera cutting angles the actors never HAVE to learn how to act properly. Essentially its a de-evolution. Actors get it too fucking easy nowadays, thats why there hasn't been a classic movie for more than 15 years.

  • What year was this???

  • I'm sorry, but to me all 1940's movies are bad, overdramatic acting. I can't really tell much difference...

  • @fangirl4eva1 Maybe you just have bad taste!

  • @fangirl4eva1 Your Obviously a dumb ass because i can name a bunch of films that came out in 1940's that were excellent, well- made films. You probably haven't seen many. I suggest you watch more before you go making dumb comments dummy!

  • @SamLuvsJamesDean No offense meant. It's just one person's opinion.

  • @fangirl4eva1 Sorry for the name calling. Your right=)

  • What is up with her accent?

  • Wait, neither one of them has a drink in their hands? I thought that was standard in scenes like these back then.

  • "Because you don't have the GUTS to live life like a real man." How I long for dialogue like that. I agree with those who thumbs up Nick A. and thumbs down the woman. Though I think she's got potential. Probaby didn't have much in the way of direction in this scene.

  • He did well, she blew

  • Nick Adams was a great underrater actor who put 100 percent into most of his roles. Sometimes the stories they write for actors might not be the best but if you really watch everything Nick does, he really has alot of love for acting and It's too bad no one wanted to give him a good chance and that his life was cut short. Rock on Adams

  • Nick Adams isn't bad but the woman...!

  • Who made that call?

    Comic-book guy?

  • Bad acting?????? You're crazy!!!! That's Mary Ann Mobley Miss America. I'm still in love with her. Nick just has PTSD from the Civil War. He should turn himself in. I'm with you elc1960

  • Nick Adams isn't that bad in this clip. The script is awful, and this has to be from very early in Mary Ann Mobley's career, because she became much better. Never world class, but OK. This has to be a very low budget movie because the scene was shot in one take with only one camera and no close-ups, which would have helped with dramatic effect. You wanna see bad acting? Watch David Caruso on "CSI: Miami". THAT'S a bad actor!

  • I agree with youtubematt1. Being that they got this in one take says a lot. I Don't know if they get shit in one take today? This is old school acting, TV back then it was 10 or a Hundred times better. Today there is shit. I agree with those who said this is NOT BAD. JMachinder...Did you go to College? Did you take Motion Picture Critique? Motion Picture Writing? Did you go to film school? Do you know anything about film?

  • This is a "B" movies they were entertaining but not top caliber. Even still alot of us that were young then wouldn't have known it all we wanted to do was see a movie

  • Forget the acting, you can see EXTRA SHADOWS from what it appears crew men walking around in the back ground in the bottom right side of the bed at 3:11 and till the end of the clip

  • Stuff like this,(her mainly) is where Jim Cary gets his humor! OVER ACTING...

  • Is this why he killed himself?

  • This was not bad....T.J. Hooker... Now thats bad.

  • She IS bad, but he's not all that bad.

  • one of those instances where her acting is soooo bad that it ends up being quite entertaining.

  • Another commenter reminded me of "Plan 9 From Outer Space". Oh yeah, and "Glen Or Glenda" also. Beyond abysmal.

  • Not good, but FAR from the worst. You wanna see bad acting? Try "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies" (yes, that's the title). One of the worst movies ever made. It's from 1963 or 1964, and was an attempt at a combination horror movie/rock 'n' roll musical. Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.

  • The actress is Mary Ann Mobley...Miss America 1959. She was from Mississippi.

  • Nick Adams was a good actor. She's overacting so badly she's going in an out of focus!

  • Although this was strident and overly dramatic, it's not that bad. I thought it was rather campy, to be honest. I chuckled while I watched.

    What show was this from?

  • A kids? wtf?

  • He's actually not that bad. She, is god awful.

  • Man! She really chewin' up the scene!

  • remember these are the early days of television. most stage actors still acted as if they were on the stage.

  • better then twilight, actualy this is not that bad, I dont think twilight even deserve comperation to this lol...

  • its not that bad acting

  • Far from bad acting. Bad directing and writing (and nonexistent scoring and editing), but decent acting.

If they'd tightened up the script first, then shot more than one take and edited the best angles and reaction shots together, it could have been awesome. It's amazing what good editing can do. Add the right music, and you've really got something.

  • This is from YOUNG DILLINGER (1965). Nick Adams had high hopes that this film would jump-start his fading career. It didn't.

  • Didn't Nick Adams kill himself?

  • I liked this. It's funny because as a stage scene this would have been awesome. You can see how television and stage really don't mix. They are over acting a bit but for stage you really have to exaggerate each emotion and physicality to project it properly to every seat from the stage. I like this and enjoyed it.

  • he makes reference to John Dillinger? Uh, this is supposedly post-Civil War?

    Great Writing Hall of Fame!

    Hello, I'm Anne Achronism.....

  • @charvesa This was not a Johnny Yuma "The Rebel" episode......nowhere does it say that. It was from another TV show that Nick Adams was in.... Notice her clothes aren't "era correct" either. The coincidence is that his name is "Johnny" in both shows.

  • They're not first league material but this is way better that the shit hollywood eats for acting!

  • his voice is not the same voice when he played in Godzilla

  • I thought it was quite good, especially for one take.

  • this is actually pretty decent acting. some parts done by the girl seemed like she was trying to remember her lines, but the acting was good.. ive seen WAY worse. trust me...

  • Where is the bad acting? This is great acting. It was all shot in one continuous take too. No cuts. All 3:50 of dialogue memorized. This is fantastic.

  • Wow Elizabeth Taylor really let herself go!

  • @level242 which one is liz?

  • This isn't bad acting..

  • Why is this titled "worst acting ever"?

  • This acting is not bad at all, really it's pretty good.

  • Ohh How Low Can You Get?

  • Its not bad. Its better than a lot of acting happening today.

  • the acting okay it's not you have anything to compare to stop shiting on people you cunt

  • C'mon, it's not anywhere near the worst. Just not anywhere near the best either!

  • what movie is this? nick adams was a fav of mine.

  • God so stupid, this just a scene from some 50s movie. Whats so epically bad about it?

  • Check out Kim Fields on the Facts of Life for bad acting.

  • I know Steven Seagal and sir, Nick Adams in no Steven Seagal.

  • its not bad acting, the writing is just terrible and the emotions switch way too fast making it really unrealistic...

but i know i definitely can not act like that

  • Johnny was a short shit.

  • ..this is why Nick adams killed himself....because they gave him lame women actresses to work with.

  • The acting is neither good or bad IMO.... It's just the writing that sucks balls.

  • that's pathetic....But absolutely not the worst acting ever....

Watch Terminator Salvation for that ..hoho!

  • I betcha Ya won't see today's women take a smack in the kisser like this! Men have become the women after the wild west!

My girlfriend beats me all the time. How I miss the old days!

  • this isnt that bad or even bad at all

  • you think this is bad? you have never seen a chuck norris movie or tv show

  • Its not that bad, especially considering its all in one take. Scenes this long are pretty hard.

  • @yootubematt I agree. If you want to really see bad acting turn to UPN 9.

  • Ha-ha, well my ex and I acted worse than this for 25 years.

  • lol

  • not only is this not "the worst acting ever", it isn't even notably bad.

  • i dont get it, whats so bad about it apart from a wife and a kids? i saw her smile at certin times when they were fighting but i thought its because she crazy since she was laughing then went to crying.

  • hahah 1:21 WIN!!

  • It's overacted, but it isn't that bad, especially considering it was all one take. Some modern films are even worse. The Wicker Man comes to mind.

  • LOL SHE SAID A WIFE AND A KIDS! LOL

  • Her acting looks like a bad impersonation of Elizabeth Taylor. Traaaaagic.

  • Sorry! But, these two were Oscar-winners compared to the acting (or lack of same) in the justly infamous PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE.

  • NAGITY NAGITY NAG!!! holey CRAP!!! how can i live with a person who NAGS!!! NICK ADAMS ISENT WEAK!!! NAGGER!!!

  • Meh. I've seen worse. But-"I hope to God it's born dead" It's like it was snatched out of an old John Waters movie.

  • holy shit, thats like my mother......

  • Wow, she has a crazy laugh. She would have been great in a horror movie.

  • @MikuruBeamu HA HA thats FUNNY!!! i aggree with that!!!

  • "Johnny, Let's go get little Johnny and take him to Uncle Johnny's and he can play with Uncle Johnny."

Seriously, was everyone named Johnny in that era?

  • I never hit a woman,,so Nick. Eat Shit and Die.

    You Punk.

  • wtf are you saying!!! NICK ADAMS is ACTING!!! so you eat shit and DIE!!!

  • WTF??? Nick Adams as John Dillinger? They looked absolutely NOTHING alike. Mary Ann Mobley thanks goodness did go on to better acting roles where she showed she indeed had skill...as her fans know, she later went on to have a long & happy marriage to actor/TV host Gary Collins. I agree that the acting here is definitely not Oscar worthy. Not their "shining hour", that's for sure! But thanks for sharing this strangely compelling footage with us.

  • Plus, flubbed dialogue at 2:24:

"A family and a wife and A kids..."

  • @voidforpurpose maybe she's Italian?

  • @voidforpurpose Real-life conversations aren't perfect either!

  • hey, i've seen worse. presley in love me tender comes to mind

  • hm, its not so bad, hes alright but shes too, up and down with the emotions...and she took that slap like a bitch too

  • PMS

  • Lmao this is bad acting, and i think she's bi-polar in this scene

  • our acting class was like this........all one take.....terrible acting hahahaha

  • He wasn't that bad, but that bitch is a freakin' PSYCHO!

  • Amazing. That was done all in ONE TAKE with so many opportunities to CUT. Priceless.

  • Aside from the bad acting, "Young Dillinger" (1965) has one of the best soundtracks of any film ever made. The film is almost impossible to find. Yje incidental music throughout the film is fantastic.

  • lmao she ate that slap like bagged lunch. did she say "you cant have a family, a wife, and a kids"?

  • She did say "and a kids" lmfao. Btw, this is no where near the worst acting I've seen.

  • lol word. ive seen some pretty shitty stuff. but lol this ones kinda funny. i loved when he slapped her and she snapped back before you could blink. i was like OHHHHH

  • A Baby? what baby?... oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man, oh god, oh man, OH GOD!

  • Worst acting ever? A bit harsh, no?

  • LOVE this scene-Hope I can find the movie-

As for Nick's and Mary Ann's acting-

I would blame the script and (especially) the director

  • It wasn't too horrible till about 1:45. Not all her fault either, as the script seemed poorly written.

  • Troll 2

  • I've seen the movie. He's playing John Dillinger but she calls him "Nick" a few times.

  • john dillinger? you mean the character johnny depp's portraying in public enemies?

  • Yes. Dillinger was a real person.

  • i know

  • The acting isn't believable but it's not horrible. It's actually pretty decent considering how old this film is.

  • Some of the best acting is from old films. This is awful no matter the age 2:07 WTF?

  • he seems ok, but she is so bad

  • Comment removed

  • hmm...yeah it is pretty bad. i don't think they lack portraying emotion....it's definitely the timing..

  • Mary Ann Mobley...the first Miss Mississippi to become Miss America. We have pictures of our car with the Mississippi tags honoring her.

  • Nothin wrong with Nick Adams. He was always good, the material he had to work w in many of his films was sub-par to flatout crappy..heck, even in the Japanese Monster film(s) he was watchable..actually one of my favorite 60's actors....he was nominated for best supporting actor early in his career U know. RIP Nick.

  • The acting, according to the style of the time, is actually pretty good, except for a few lines from both which could have had better delivery, namely that last line she says.

Also, as some people have said before me, it's more how the scene was shot that was the problem. It's a nice achievement that they managed this all in one take, but it would look more aesthetically pleasing and would be more communicative if it had some closeups on each of them and a greater variety of camera angles.

  • i'll prolly get thumbs down for this but i'll be honest.

I actualy enjoyed this. it wasn't nearly as bad as troll 2.

  • the guy's not bad, i actually thought he was truthful even though his stakes don't seem that high. the girl, well, i can't tell if she's being so "presentational" on purpose, but i doubt it.

  • WOW ....they're NOT even listening or reacting to each.

it's like they're both acting badly in 2 different places.

He's on some Dude Ranch..and she's in Crazy Town

  • u ought to seen early jack nickleson

acting talk about some bad acting.

its a wonder how much he improved

down over the years into one of better

    actors.

  • That's Mary Ann Mobley

  • Yeah, she's pretty bad.

  • "you cant have a family, and a wife, and a kids"

  • the guy's not bad

  • That's not bad acting, just olden times acting.

  • i see worse acting every single day in australian shows like neighbours and home and away. wasn't actually that bad at all. very funny though.

  • For a fifties film , its well acted. Maybe a bit over the top , but at least your watching it.

  • Hey johny! come out with your hands in the air!

No copper gunna take me alive!

  • Nick Adams is alright but she is just way over the top. The godawful writing and direction are no help either.

  • This is not that bad.

  • who the hel lwrote this.... the person who wrote thi and the women should quit. the man was ok

  • I wouldn't lay the blame entirely on her. Whoever wrote this should be shot-- she did pretty well for the schlock(sp?) she had to work with.

  • I liked it. Looks like something that I will parody right away in my next film.

  • This looks like some kind of audition. Maybe she was trying out for something. That would explain the single camera and no cuts.

  • The guys pretty good. The girl NEEDS to be shot.

  • i think its good acting

  • Great acting, bad title

  • Whaa..? this is some of the best acting I've seen. Could of been directed better, with different camera angles, but it's great.

    All in one take too..incredible.

  • who the f*** wrote this?

  • You want to see some bad, bad acting, check out Grayson Hall in Dark Shadows.

  • "and a kids"......

  • LOL! She really did just say "and a kids" what the hell?! She's horrible! hahaha! Who is that actress?!

  • Mary Anne Mobley...Miss America 1959.

  • He's no Marlon Brando but he's good. And women actresses always suck.

  • "women actresses"?

  • Yeah, cause you can get those men actresses...

  • lol

  • Is this a scene from "Young Dillinger"?

Robert Conrad was also in this. Who ever put this up, can you post a scene with him in it?

  • Well, I like the colorful set and their fabulous clothes.

  • shes gorgeous

  • "worst acting ever"? seen far worse.

  • He's actually pretty good. She lets the scene down, but that was the style in them days I guess

  • It's a shame how Nick Adams ended up as and actor before he commited suicide. he had potential but just couldn't get to the top...

  • Acting...bad or good? U really can't judge it like that - more in the direction and the way it was shot and edited - whatever happened in that moment is now crystalized - not a case of "bad" and good but perception.

  • This could be worse... Wait, nevermind ... she gets worse ...

  • dude he hit her what the eff

  • " you cant have a family and a wife and a kids"

  • Yipes. She seems demented in her attempt at great acting. He's acting with a fantasy of playing off somebody better. Looks like the director is at fault. There was a lot of this crap in the 1950s and early 1960s when the clueless copied the style of "the Method" without understanding its substance.

  • The acting isn't bad at all...

  • This is a masterpiece compared to "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."

  • it wasnt as bad as the title said. people are only thinking its bad acting because its what they expected.

it really isnt that bad, just a different time. thats how they acted back then.

  • oh my word... that was brutal

the girl only sucked more because she had more lines to screw up

    aweful script too

  • Is he Glen from Godzilla vs. Monster-Zero? O_o

  • Yep.

  • RU really sure the girl is worse? I think the guy is. But wow really bad acting and worse script.

  • What are you talking about? This was superbebly acted by both of them.

  • Stupid. All that drama, and she could have just

told him to begin with. Hopefully society hasn't

    imitated this monstrosity - Oh...wait.
