@Shamaster56 No. The major scales are C (no sharps or flats or all natural) F major (1 flat) B flat major (2 flats) E flat major (3 flats) and so forth. Same for the sharps. Minor scales are 7 degrees up from a major scale. if you look on a piano, a major scale is wholestep wholestep wholestep halfstep wholestep wholestep halfstep. I hope you understand it a little better :)
This is so unhelpful for beginners. Sorry but ur sound isn't clear and i noticed that u are also a beginner and beginner as teacher... It might be not helpful
if anyone takes this guys advice then I need to quit playing trombone, not attend the Alessi Seminar, throw my horn at a wall, and drop out of college and do whatever that guy did... NOT! DO NOT TAKE THIS GUYS ADVICE!!!!!!!
just saying..when he holds out his notes his tone aint too bad. but still this dude sucks. no subtlety what so ever with articulations. ive never heard so many punchy notes...and theres a things called intonation...damnnn. trombone players never has any reason to play out of tune, use your ears..
the A is perfectly in tune! only the D, Eb, F, G are flat. Seriously though, I think its great that you've made the effort to make these instructional videos. The more people are exposed to music the better
Ok, if you guys dont understand how to play a Bb scale, on the trombone or if you dont even know how to read it, then this vid is NOT for you. Bb is probably the easiest scale to play. and if you forget to lock your slide to, then shame on you
You don't need to google how to play a scale. Just fucking learn your positions and know the key, then move up the scale from root to octave. You don't have to watch a video of someone terribly playing it.
i don't know how good this guy really is, but i have watched several of his videos and in every one he seems to suck, and is trying to teach other people with this. i have a problem with that
...yes we can.....i can play every scale by memory on my trombone and my baritone.......i love the chromatic b to b mostly positions are 1765432654321 then reverse downwards its so fun playing low brass!
u have a better memory then me cus i can only play b flat c natural and f and i can barley play them plus we hava freaking mid term exam on all the scales which i no im gonna faile
i bet that you can't play b-flat major scale 3 octaves lol. Most people at my high school can't play over 2 octaves (playing all the notes of every scale, not hopping from B-flat to B-flat to B-flat)
Yeah, I saw your vids--you play bass trombone at those jazz festivals.
So if you can play 4 chromatic octaves on a bass bone, I assume that you start on pedal F and play all the way to double high F right? That's where the range of most middle school trombone players take them lol (i was one of them).
I never lock my slide because i forgot to unlock it so ive got a habit of puting my pinky around the slide...btw just a recemendation but holding ur slide like that can result in hitting ur knuckles on the bell so i hold it pinching 2 fingers and a thumb
@bonemad888 So which videos should beginners watch? I mean, I consider myself a beginner, and, I don't really know which ones to watch, and which not to.
@Meik101 Bad comment bro...what he's doing is very helpful for beginners..Your a young guy but in time you will understand that LIFE is not about being "better" than others but more about being humble, and sharing what you know, so others can grow..
@Meik101 It's too bad you didn't put up a video on your account, I mean, if you're better, and like everyone here, people that go to watch this video should take your advice, you should have videos. I mean, you have 7, but only one relates to the trombone, and even that one, doesn't have helpful advice I bet.
@ianflowforever First off, why should people take my advice if they are watching this guys videos? For what I've seen, this guy isn't liked by many, and most have to agree that this guy isn't very good. I still think I am better than this guy, even if it has been 3 years. So, you look at my profile and scroll over my videos, make a comment about them, but don't care to watch it. I'm sorry I didn't make videos to teach you how to play.
if it is Bb isnt it minor? I thought any shrps or flats made the piece minor instead of major

boneofthewang, pedal F to high F is only 3 octaves... yes you play four different F's, but you can only go up 3 sets of notes.
and mollyjayne, please tell me you're not sticking up for this guy. i'm not a pro but i'm not on here posting lesson videos and claiming to be one.

you mean the chromatic scale? depending on what note i start on, i could get a 4 octave chromatic scale. and perhaps a little bit over.
you'd be surprised where practice takes you.
boricuajjv 2 years ago
You'll be using an F-attachment trombone right? or just a regular tenor trombone
'Cause I've seriously never heard of an 8th grader that can play a 4 octave chromatic scale without an F-attachment--sometimes with one, too.
boneofthewang 2 years ago
actually, its a bass trombone. haha.
but yeah. :P
all the triggers do is extend the low range.
boricuajjv 2 years ago
Yeah, I saw your vids--you play bass trombone at those jazz festivals.

I can't hit the double high F on my bass trombone mouthpiece yet.
