from what i've heard, no. jsut put lots of shells in the aquarium for the eggs. apparantly you have no idea they have spawned untill you see the fry swimming around. the parents protect their fry.
Don't use REAL shells, they make the water hard. Best thing is, use a flowerpot, stand it right side up, with a piece of slate over the top (leave just enough room for the fish to slip into the pot). When you see the fish tossing bits of gravel out of the pot, you know they are getting busy.
i have a question i had 2 a male and a female and i added another female the other day and they started to fight it, will it eventually settle in or schould i move it into a another tank wit guppies(or will it eat them or there babies) right now i jus put in it a 10 gallen alone
I am new into this hobby and I have bought these kribensis in november. Only 1 1/2 week after they have fry, but only ca. 20 pcs. Now there is 4 back of these fry and the are playing around.
Yesterday there was again some new born fry and about 50 these times or more.
Yes I also think that the female is very much yellow and she was that already at the store.
I think she's trying to put the moves on him but he's a playboy and trying to play hard to get. You have some of the most beautiful kribensis I've every seen. The yellow is very intense and this quality is hard to find. I went to the store and bought a pair because of your videos. The anual cichlid convention is going to be in the summer here in California. You should come.
i have one crib it doesnt have the pink and yellow pigment like these have

They need a parnter, a cave and not to hard water. Not more than PH 7,5. Than there is no problem.

wat would you say the smallest tank size is to keep a pair in and also could you tell me how big they get ?

I think the normal size is 8 cm.
And the smallest tank for one couple is 60 L. You should have more.
