When I didn't know much about MMA some friend of my said me about "some russian who terminates everybody". The first fight i have seen was Fedor against Fujita. At first i thought this is some fighter from the street because of his "unprofessional striking" but something let me to think that he is very successful in his fights. After that i have seen other fights with him and i was right.
@puteshestvuushij theyre sambo strikes, he keeps his head out of range , apart from that big right hand that rocked him, then he will follow them up with takedown, nog fights a great example
You're absolutely right. Fedor just doesn't match up against some of these other fighters. They are usually bigger, faster, stronger and more accomplished in their profession. But Fedor just has the heart and an unwillingness to lose. He just has to be "okay" at everything else. His heart carries him through

@jetliigor Well the thing is this. In AA's previous fights where be uses that flying knee, he was really pwning his opponents. If you see that Ben Rothwell fight, AA was just pounding Rothwell out before he mixed it up with the flying knee.
It wasn't the case with Fedor. He was winning by points but wasn't pummeling him. So..I think AA wrongly timed that knee. That knee is only to be used against opponents who are clearly being pummeled.

It's a known fact that some people can take a punch better then others. Did you ever see the Arlovski/Cabbage fight? Arlovski unloaded on him with tons of HUGE bombs and the guy just kept coming forward. It's simple, or rather not so simple genetics. Chris Leben is another example. Out of the guys I train with I can only think of maybe 1 or 2 that could take a direct hit on the jaw and keep coming. I've seen it. Although most guys would drop. Arlovski is the same way.

I completely agree with you but he wasn't dominating. If you look at the slo-mo GIF's (you can find them on Sherdog somewhere) Fedor was slipping all the punches. The most significant strike Arlovski landed was the push kick and we know how that ended up :)

No doubt Fedor's timing was perfect, the momentum Andrei had behind him going into a flying knee would have just made the punch that much harder as it pretty much caught him mid-air.
Before you ask about glass chins, you might want to watch a few fights (especially Fedor's). Fedor is ridiculously fast to begin with but if you watch that punch in slow motion from Fedor's right side it's a perfect compact power punch, would knock anyone out, it would probably kill you.
I'll skip the part about the punch killing me because it's silly, but I have to admit I did not have a good angle to see the punch land. My question about the glass chin still was relevant, because some guys have better chins than others. Noguera took Fedor's bombs.

Andre didn't land many clean punches. There are gifs from the sherdog forum that shows Fedor slipping virtually everything. The final proof is in Fedor's face, which is easily blemished; it was untouched. In retrospect, Fedor DID land a couple of clean punches in the clinch, which made the bout about even before the finish. I just can't get on this "AA was dominating before getting caught making a mistake" camp. The man was knocked out in just over three minutes of a possible 25min!

Before you ask about glass chins, you might want to watch a few fights (especially Fedor's). Fedor is ridiculously fast to begin with but if you watch that punch in slow motion from Fedor's right side it's a perfect compact power punch, would knock anyone out, it would probably kill you.

I understand. I have good knowledge of boxing, and there are those guys with unbelievable chins and others with glass chins. For sure, a perfect punch is a perfect punch. As I said, I couldn't see the punch land. I'm quite surprised by the reaction my first comment caused. I didn't want to mock Arlovski, I just wondered if the guy was known to go down easy just as we find some in boxing.

a lot of people mock Arlovski and say he has a glass chin and he kinda does, but it's not as bad as people say.
He's been KO'd a few times but they were from pretty hard hits, except for the one from Sylvia. He definitely doesn't have one of the better chins in MMA that's for sure.

Andre didn't land many clean punches. There are gifs from the sherdog forum that shows Fedor slipping virtually everything. The final proof is in Fedor's face, which is easily blemished; it was untouched. In retrospect, Fedor DID land a couple of clean punches in the clinch, which made the bout about even before the finish. I just can't get on this "AA was dominating before getting caught making a mistake" camp. The man was knocked out in just over three minutes of a possible 25min!
