I think it could have something to do with that but to be the song is solely about shoes (no pun intended yes bad joke but i chuckled). i think it is reflecting on his childhood and how kids would go crazy and even kill for a pair of nikes or jordans (which still happens), when at the end of the day theyre just shoes and dont add anything to who you are and there are hundreds of other ppl with the same shoes so you dont feel unique

Here's what I got from the video: The Nike Shoes are a metaphor for the music industry. If one person raps, people automatically think its the coolest thing ever, until someone else starts rapping, and so on and so forth. In the end, everyone had the shoes, and it wasn't special anymore. For a minute, people are in the limelight, but then someone else comes along and replaces them, until it becomes a cycle. In the end, Mack was reflecting about how all it is, is music. Tell me what you think?

@Eziokilla9595 my take was more that it was about nike/jordan and the empire they have built and the effect and grip they have people and society. the effect became so great that people began to kill each other over them. he said he was part of a movement. the product that nike had created and endorsed was so superior that they were able to keep people coming back for more no matter what the cost and reflecting back he realizes all of this and sees that it was really just another pair of shoes.
