I think that what you are doing is amazing. i wish i you had been there about 8 years ago, when i was really having trouble at school. All i know is that, as soon as you leave high school you can become whoever you want to be. I hated high school, but i loved and still miss University. Im so lucky to have a best friend who is a few years older then me to help me go through the bullying at school. I recommend to the young LGBT community to seek someone who has been through it to help you cope with the daily struggle of life at school. I love my best friend, he saved my life
You know, I was so lucky to grow up in areas where being gay was literally embraced. My closest friends who treat me the best and all of that are gays. I'm sorry if this upsets most of die-hard cristian folks reading this but the bible was written over a hundred years AFTER Jesus Christ died. I love this series of videos! I'm not gay, but I can't say I ever "fit in", so I think this applies to everyone who were bullied, picked on, or if you feel you're just not like everyone else. It's true - it does "get better" no matter your circumstances. Just get through it and get away from all the small minded people in your particular universe. I'll be honest, I'm unconformable with the idea of gay couples. Still, they are human beings and deserve the same rights as straight people. It's just not fair any other way.
My family has turned its back on me and kicked me out when I was 18 and still to this day have NOTHING to do with me and I'm in my late 40's now..So some families do except you others won't.. No matter how much you try and God knows I tried. So live in realty just in case your family does turn it back on you, you still can live a happy life and surround yourself with the people that do except you and love you no matter what...

What I find really amazing is that there are so many parents who are shocked to find out their son or daughter is gay. I knew my son was gay from the first time I held him as a new born baby. He is now 26 and is the strongest, most couragious and funny person I know. I just don't know how some parents can be so out of touch with their children, especially in the young years that they need their unconditional love and support so very much.
This isn't just true for gay people who are bullied. School bullying destroyed my childhood for being different. Three years ago I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. Yes, it does get better.
Alright so when I was 15 I told my mom I was gay, she instantly cried and went to my sister. Then the news got around to other family members and it just snowball'd downhill. My Dad's family is Christian and my Mom's family is Mormon.
I'm now 20, I still feel the way I have since I was 15.. What if the problem is not your friends but your family that doesn't accept you or allow you in their house? Contemplated suicide many times yaddayadda but that wont solve anything. I feel like I'm alone. =\
@KajinCeari Hi, Kajin - I cried when I first heard of families not loving their kid when he comes out to them; that sucks and sucks bad. I still cry because that shows how utterly contaminated they are by their religious indoctrination. It has nothing to do with God, everything to do with the extremist humans that make up many churches. I am christian and gay, so I have a couple of ideas that might help - if they do not help, then please tell me and forgive me. (See next posts.)
@KajinCeari 2nd post: One comment is that not all churches are as extreme as the Mormon church in respect to homosexuals - you can search the web for horrifying stories of them excommunicating their members or forcing them into "rehabilitation" clinics run by the church to "cure" them. Also, in the Mormon world, there is often a strong link between business and the church; so, perhaps your parents risk losing jobs - it is disgusting. But here is one idea: find a gay-friendly church, see post3
@KajinCeari 3rd post: Get to know some gays there, talk with them, share stories -you will know you are far from being alone. Then get to know the pastor - get pastoral care, which means some friendly council from someone who knows the deal and what he/she is talking about (perhaps s/he's gay). You need to reach a stage where you can talk to your parents on their own religious base and your new-found pastor will surely help you to do that. I'm not suggesting you become all religious - post4.
@KajinCeari Post 4: Church is community, it is a support structure, the good ones preach love and humanity, not hate. The really good ones don't preach much at all - rather they challenge us to think for ourselves.
Whatever your parents have done to you - (not showing love, disowning you, putting you out) - they must be feeling crappy as well. Your goal should be (however ridiculous this sounds) to bridge the gap and find love again - you can do that with some help like I described. >post5.

Someone who accepts you, loves you, could help break down the barrier with your parents? If they are all Mormons or similarly extreme on homosexuality that might not be a possibility, let's keep looking. There is a way through, you can find it. Giving up on them like they gave up on you is not the answer; they will come to understand.
@johnmingolla but that isn't true! I am a Christian with many gay friends whom i love dearly. I would never wish harm on another human being, no matter their race, religion, gender, sexuality. I can't speak on behalf of others but as a Christian who is actually trying to practice what we preach about "acceptance," organized religion is not the problem. My parents are strong Christians that raised me to actually "love thy neighbor."

We love them because they are our children, not because of their sexual orientation or their grades, etc. We love them unconditionally. They know this. That's what parents need to do--accept and love your children. Don't put conditions on them! If all parents did this, there would be fewer bullies and children in pain would have a place to turn. It wouldn't solve everything, but it helps!

I also have a wonderful family who supports me, and luvs me, and accepts me for who I am, I am very close to landing a position as a Speech Language Pathologist where I will be getting 100K after I finish my last semester of grad school. life is great, so maybe its you that is mentally sick.

What I find really amazing is that there are so many parents who are shocked to find out their son or daughter is gay. I knew my son was gay from the first time I held him as a new born baby. He is now 26 and is the strongest, most couragious and funny person I know. I just don't know how some parents can be so out of touch with their children, especially in the young years that they need their unconditional love and support so very much.

This isn't just true for gay people who are bullied. School bullying destroyed my childhood for being different. Three years ago I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. Yes, it does get better.

Alright so when I was 15 I told my mom I was gay, she instantly cried and went to my sister. Then the news got around to other family members and it just snowball'd downhill. My Dad's family is Christian and my Mom's family is Mormon.
I'm now 20, I still feel the way I have since I was 15.. What if the problem is not your friends but your family that doesn't accept you or allow you in their house? Contemplated suicide many times yaddayadda but that wont solve anything. I feel like I'm alone. =\

@KajinCeari Hi, Kajin - I cried when I first heard of families not loving their kid when he comes out to them; that sucks and sucks bad. I still cry because that shows how utterly contaminated they are by their religious indoctrination. It has nothing to do with God, everything to do with the extremist humans that make up many churches. I am christian and gay, so I have a couple of ideas that might help - if they do not help, then please tell me and forgive me. (See next posts.)

@KajinCeari 2nd post: One comment is that not all churches are as extreme as the Mormon church in respect to homosexuals - you can search the web for horrifying stories of them excommunicating their members or forcing them into "rehabilitation" clinics run by the church to "cure" them. Also, in the Mormon world, there is often a strong link between business and the church; so, perhaps your parents risk losing jobs - it is disgusting. But here is one idea: find a gay-friendly church, see post3

@KajinCeari 3rd post: Get to know some gays there, talk with them, share stories -you will know you are far from being alone. Then get to know the pastor - get pastoral care, which means some friendly council from someone who knows the deal and what he/she is talking about (perhaps s/he's gay). You need to reach a stage where you can talk to your parents on their own religious base and your new-found pastor will surely help you to do that. I'm not suggesting you become all religious - post4.

@KajinCeari Post 4: Church is community, it is a support structure, the good ones preach love and humanity, not hate. The really good ones don't preach much at all - rather they challenge us to think for ourselves.
Whatever your parents have done to you - (not showing love, disowning you, putting you out) - they must be feeling crappy as well. Your goal should be (however ridiculous this sounds) to bridge the gap and find love again - you can do that with some help like I described. >post5.

@KajinCeari Post 5: We choose our friends but we don't choose our family ! However, is there anyone in your direct or indirect family with whom you can talk? Someone who accepts you, loves you, could help break down the barrier with your parents? If they are all Mormons or similarly extreme on homosexuality that might not be a possibility, let's keep looking. There is a way through, you can find it. Giving up on them like they gave up on you is not the answer; they will come to understand.

@johnmingolla but that isn't true! I am a Christian with many gay friends whom i love dearly. I would never wish harm on another human being, no matter their race, religion, gender, sexuality. I can't speak on behalf of others but as a Christian who is actually trying to practice what we preach about "acceptance," organized religion is not the problem. My parents are strong Christians that raised me to actually "love thy neighbor."

I have become housebound due to illness. My body is weak, but my spirit is not! Watching this video makes me think of all of the people who need to hear this message. I hear from people all over the world, needing help and feeling alone due to their differences. I am a part of different communities who are repressed and bullied. I am gay. I am ill with an "Invisible Disease", and I am intuitive.
I now create Fae factory Art and share it with others who are hurting.

No matter what, we can allow each other to be who they are and be happy within ourselves for allowing that. We cannot be fully at peace within ourselves if we are rejecting others for being authentic and happy.

Thank you for being brave enough to do this! Your son is very lucky! We have 3 terrific boys. We love them because they are our children, not because of their sexual orientation or their grades, etc. We love them unconditionally. They know this. That's what parents need to do--accept and love your children. Don't put conditions on them! If all parents did this, there would be fewer bullies and children in pain would have a place to turn. It wouldn't solve everything, but it helps!
