This has to be one of the simplest necks I've heard. But that's the reason why it's CRANKIN! Especially in the intro when everybody's playin in unison whole notes! There are basically three parts moving in this piece - tubas, tbones/btones, and everybody else. In each part, the instruments are playing the same notes. It may not sound exactly like Cameo's original, but it is jammin and it gets cookman's crowd hype! The chant and choreography/flash is the cherry on top IMO
Let me get to the bottom line, B-CC concentrates too much on being flashy. Speaking of flashy, take a page out of the Athletic Dept's book and get rid of the band director and his entire staff. B-CC looks and sounds like every other band there is nothing new, no imagination. You also are in need of new uniforms as well without all of that shiney gold.

People that live in Florida sometimes think that there are no other good bands outside the state of Florida. Southern, Jackson St, Norfolk to name a few. And yes we can certainly add Southern to the debate, because they are every bit as good as BCU if not better.
The Fact is FAMU has the best arrangers in the business. BCU concentrated too much on the bassline. It sounds like a funeral dirge. On game day my money will always be on the FAMU Marching 100. They are more fundamentally sound in every respect. It's so obvious

So based off of all these comments is it safe to say a school is better based off of their band??? :-/....i don't get it...i thought the reason we come to an institution for higher learning is for the education...band is just an extracurricular activity to do while you're here for some, for others some experience leading college bands. however, if a school graduates more students at a higher rate then other schools being compared, does that still mean its bad because the band may not be as good?
Oh let it go people! BCU was actually the band that I enjoyed the most this year, def. better than A&T and SCSU! They do need to work on that U.S News ranking though, it's rather low! LOL!!
we had no choice but to play this at the 5th cuz they didn't allowed us to play during the game...the announcer was advertising mcdonalds and told us we couldn't play over him...we was soo close to leaving during the 3rd quarter...but the busses wasn't there..so we stayed

lol Doc was just showing some courtesy and thanks for coming. Trust he's been in a program before where they will look at ya'll and laugh (JSU) its Doc's 5th year at winston so its gonna take some time for the program to be respected and reach prominence. But to say we wanna be like ya'll?...naaaaaw we're aiming way higher than that....

Why because WSSU isnt marchnig 200-300 YET? FYI....WSSU has almost 3,000 more students than BCU, and 2,000 more than SCSU, So they have a student body to grow it's band, they will be just find by the time they compete officially in the MEAC in 2010-11...

No matter how many more students wssu have, their SCHOOL, BAND, nor STUDENTS will never be able to out do Bethune-Cookman University IN ANYTHING, OK! wssu isn't on MEAC level! And, if your school band looks like a prep high school band, thats just FUCKING sad!!! You'll at least should be marching 150-200 with 3000 more students then Cookman(wanna-be)! MEAC is not SIAC, CIAA, and swac, you will get yo ass embarrassed marching in an opponents stadium thinking its another sunny FUCKING day!!!

WTF are you on about? Your basketball team just left Winston-Salem,NC, HOST of the MEAC basketball tournament(not in your city), does your team play in 15,000 seat coliseum, NO, WSSU has beaten BCU in both football, and basketball.and we're not even eligible yet, Where is BCU ranked in the U.S New World&Report rankings of best HBCUS? WSSU was 12th, BCU-33rd... Only 2 MEAC schools were ahead of WSSU and BCU sure as hell wasn't 1 of them. THANK YOU.....33rd? STEP IT UP, BCU! LMAO!!!

When Marching Band defines your institution ,THAT IS A PROBLEM...So you can keep your 300-plus very good band I might had, but i'll take our position as the 2nd highest ranked public HBCU ranking! Thank YOU :)...I'll repeat WSSU has 3,000 more student than you, so come 2011 when WSSU is officially in the MEAC, i'[m sure the numbers will be up there :)

ok so you have 3k more students...wow. that just means that there are 3,000 more ni99as that have to compete for classes, dorms, and have a considerably worse student to teacher ratio. U.S. News & World Report may have y'all ranked higher, but i guarantee our students acquire more knowledge simply because our faculty knows each and every wildcat that they teach. and yea if ur band sux its a pretty good indication that school morale is low, which would make an outsider think ur school sux. imo

So based off of all these comments is it safe to say a school is better based off of their band??? :-/....i don't get it...i thought the reason we come to an institution for higher learning is for the education...band is just an extracurricular activity to do while you're here for some, for others some experience leading college bands. however, if a school graduates more students at a higher rate then other schools being compared, does that still mean its bad because the band may not be as good?

Oh let it go people! BCU was actually the band that I enjoyed the most this year, def. better than A&T and SCSU! They do need to work on that U.S News ranking though, it's rather low! LOL!!

we had no choice but to play this at the 5th cuz they didn't allowed us to play during the game...the announcer was advertising mcdonalds and told us we couldn't play over him...we was soo close to leaving during the 3rd quarter...but the busses wasn't there..so we stayed
