Everytime the U.S. goes to war there are many that discriminate against those who have racial background in the country it is at war with. From the Spanish in the Spanish-American war, to Japanese, Germans, and Italians in WWII, to now with Muslims and Arabics. The cycle MUST STOP! This is the Melting Pot and we should be proud! End the racism! End the hatred! Or this world will burn in its own arrogance.
You mean I think the " Americans should be embarrass about what they did to the Japanese and Japanese "Americans" cause those were citizens who were stripped of their rights and their space in the country.

A Japanese American man says, "had other Americans had courage to speak out.."(against human injustice),he says Rememberance Day and this Dialogue about violations of human rights would be unnecessary today.I agree about apologizing, but also question how many of the Japanese Americans kept quiet about or justified Japanese invasions, colonialism, and slavery in rest of Asia for half a century before WWII? Are they doing enough today about Japanese Government's Whitewashing of History?
Japanese American is no Japanese. Please, don't con-fuse. Hawaii Senator Daniel K. Inuye gave to USMC Col. Oliver North a lesson of patriotism and courage on the "Iran-gate" hearing .
My brother in law (via marriage to my wife's oldests sister) parents were in Manzanar (he was born there) and you would never know it since they're the nicest people in the family! I was shocked when they told me one day!

Maybe they were glad they weren't treated as badly as most of Japans enemies were treated. If you read WW2 history no one was more brutal than the Japanese, not even the Nazis.Well the Russians were pretty brutal when they assisted HItler when invading Poland.I hope your inlaws positive attitude was returned them in kind.
Japanese Americans are Americans. They are no responsible for what nationalist Japeneses did. Were German Americans responsible for what the Nazis did?

I understand that ,and don't pass that off .But at the time the gov didn't know what to do. & there were plenty of spies and sabatuers on the west coast. While Germans were not treated the same way, there were dozens of germans in the US executed for sedition and treason. Those were tough time for everyone .Go tell ppl in Somalia how bad the Japanese had it in WW2.

Great. I was at the grand opening of the Interpretive Center. By any chance, are you related to a Rose Ochi?

As far as I know, no. I've heard of her over the years and everyone says wonderful things about her, though. Thanks for viewing the video!
