  • I have a 93 Grand Marquis with the handling package...It seems to handle at least as good as my 67 442..probably better.

  • This is classic. I'm guessing he didn't have much tire left.

  • I say props to the marquis driver for the great lines !

  • With better tires and wheels the crown Vic's and Marquis are pretty good for there power to weight ratio. Best police platform ever.

  • Too cool

  • Would have been a lot funnier if the Grand Marquis would have kept the left turn signal on the whole time.

  • looks like fun

  • Some men just want to watch the world burn.

  • 4 passenger? more like 6 passenger with that front bench seat

  • @keviiinn well, yeah....but it had 4 people in it at the time. ;-)

  • Here's a fun time;

    1) Pause this video at the start and mute the audio

    2) Open this link in a new tab and pause it as well; /watch?v=9D-QD_HIfjA

    3) Play both at the same time.

    4) AWESOME! ^_^

  • I remember that day, they were all shifting their body weight to try and make it faster on the straights hahaha good times. They pulled back to the trailer and they all had the biggest smiles on their faces!

  • Remind me to never let Russom drive my car again :o) That was a good laugh, thanks for posting!

  • Sk3ptik0n : If you have never driven a 2003 to a 2010, Grand Marquis, you'd be surprised at how good it handles, for a big car. But it really isn't all that big. It's about the same size as a Ford Fairlane in 1969. My 2008 Grand Marquis will haul buggy and handles real well. I hate it that Ford quit making Mercurys. They also discontinued the Lincoln Town Car. I used to have a '72 Chrysler Newport. It handled like a much smaller car.

  • @StephenB58

Ford also discontinued the entire Panther Platform; no more Town Cars, Grand Marquis, or Crown Victorias! >.<

  • panther love!

  • He's going too slow!

  • Lil bit of understeer

  • Jalopnik brought me here, and that's one helluva way to handle a Grand Marquis! It's a shame production of the Panther Platform ended this year, >.<

  • excellent weight transfer and using the brakes to bring the rear around just enough

  • The body roll is downright hilarious, but let's be honest for a car primarily designed for old people, this is really impressive.

    Long live the Ford Panthers!

  • Good driver, like other comments said he's tossing the car around for the 'lols". Notice how he doesn't panic when he runs off the road in the curve near the start of the video, and how well he handles the chicane.

  • hahaha so that's why grandma had to replace the brake pads so prematurely

  • I'd pay a few bucks to ride in that guy's back seat. Sort of like Sabine's Ring Taxi meets "Yee haw!"

  • I want in-car footage from the Marquis

  • Barber Motorsports is the shit. The museum is unbelievable

  • you could pass it, you know!

  • I think the handling is compromised by the idiots in the the back seat, they are just dead weight.

  • Cutting corners like that? That's how I drove on Gran Turismo 3 to get those damn licenses.

  • THIS IS EPIC!!!

    Grand Marquis ROCK!!!

  • lol, unfortunately that one in front still has the suspension belonging to something resembling a grandfathers'.

  • I don't think this has an LSD. But the CVPI Does, and later ones have a compleatly redesighned suspencion. Too bad they still have a live rear axle.

  • A grand Marquis.. On a race track.. That's odd.. But that goes to show you how a full size sedan can handle.. Haha.. That will make a good car commercial on many mercury dealerships

  • @Juiceman36360 You do realize Ford axed the mercury division right?

  • e36killer : How many Grand Marquis' have you driven? I've been driving them for twenty years. I've had a '97, a 2001, and now a 2008. They handle just fine. My 2008 handles very well. It has quick, responsive steering with plenty of feel for the road. It goes where I put it and does it quick. When I have to pass someone, I can do it very quickly. The car will haul ass. How many Grand Marquis' have you driven?

  • fhturner3: I believe the Grand Marquis is considered a five or six passenger car. It has three seat belts up front and three in back. However when you do have six people in the car, it is a little crowded.

  • He just needs some stiffer springs, that's all. haha

  • it look like a vic..lxsport

  • tell you the truth i think that may have have been me during one of my black outs

  • the police are calling my name

  • I'd track the shit out of a Grand Marquis lol. I had one as a rental car. Dunno. I kinda do dig em lol

  • if that Marquis had the handlign package, it would have done even better. you can turn those boats on a dime as long as the road is dry!

  • I don't think whoever is driving that Grand Marquis, is used to driving such a car. I have a 2008 Grand Marquis. It is one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. I don't know, but I think I could do a lot better on that course, wherever it is; than that driver. I had a 2001 Grand Marquis and it was an excellent handling car; but the 2008 handles better. And they both will haul ass if you put the pedal to the metal.

  • @StephenB58 almost looks like road atlanta? am not sure tho

  • @yamahonkawazuki Barber ;-)

  • @StephenB58 very capable driver. he was intentionally throwing the car around for full effect for the camera and his passengers. plus, gotta remember, that's 800-1000 extra lbs in the car just from people!

  • Comment removed

  • @fhturner3 800 to 1000 pounds extra? You think the passengers weigh 300 lbs each?

  • @ArizonaZBum not sure what in the world it matters, but four people @ 200-250 lbs apiece...800-1000 lbs above the weight of the vehicle.

  • @ArizonaZBum lol is math a hard subject for you?

  • @Rilulia @ftturner3 Why do you say that?

Three extra passengers. A car can't drive on it's own. So there will ALWAYS be at least one person behind the wheel. So the EXTRA weight is from the THREE passengers.

Sorry. Is logic difficult for you to understand?

  • @ArizonaZBum If they're Americans.

  • @StephenB58 No Grand Marquis handles well, it's a fucking boat for old folks, props to the driver

  • @StephenB58 Barber MS park is a very tricky circuit. I think he is doing a very fine job with that aircraft carrier. I can't tell what speeds they are doing, but I will guess much faster than that car has ever been taken on the street aside from a straight line.

He seems to be carrying several passengers as well and he is painting a perfect line.

  • @StephenB58 You must be used to driving boats if you think a Grand Marquis is a well handling car, lol

  • Comment removed

  • @StephenB58 He's actually doing very, very well. The Grand Marquis is a great street cruiser with lots of room, but it's a fish out of water on a track like Barber (or any other road course).

  • Corvette C5 chase, right?

  • i own a 1998 marquis and i love it. for a large car it handles spectacularly and its got some pep in its step as well. lol i would love to bring mine to the track.

  • people may laugh at this but that driver is showing serious skill. look at the lines he maintains! to throw a 5000 pond car around that with stock tires and the stock squishy springs. and not wipe out. thats pretty amazing. Look at that Body roll!!!!

  • @burninrock24 Girl look at that body... I work out! Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle YEAH!!

  • at 0:31 secs they flicked you off! lol!

  • I was elated to see a big luxo-barge on a race track. The driver knew the car's limitations and kept it under control. Great driver. If he had been driving a blown

Marauder, it would have even been better. Wonderful video!!

  • sweetheart , that GM will be around long after that rice burner you are in is in the junkyard.

  • @CSXRockford

Sorry Pal, The Grand Marquis is built by FORD, and the video was being taken in a Chevrolet Corvette.

  • @Thunderchicken1997 Sorry, Guess because I'm not having a mid life crisis I haven't been in one lately..lol Least its American.

  • @Thunderchicken1997 She still needs to Shut her winy ass voice.

  • Some people say a front-engine car handles best. Some people say a rear-engine car handles best. I say a rented car handles best - P.J O'Rourke

  • @burddesu

Oh YEAH... In an issue of Motor Trend that I read a couple of years ago, there was an article regarding racing rentals. The #1 rental to race was a Ford Taurus. It's electronics were the most consistent. The quarter mile

was finished at the EXACT same time after multiple runs. Way to go Ford!

  • Haha, that's funny. I live right down the road from this track too.

  • LOL they know how to cruise in fashion! A Grand Marquis full of people on a race track, I love it :)

  • This is so funny! How come you were following him? Friends?

  • You liar. The Grand Marquis seats -6-.

  • That is fucking WIN.

  • Well, Not bad at all for a Big 4 door sedan. They it might have been Supercharged:)

I wonder what Jeremy Clarkson would have thought about that??

  • im thinking its got stock shocks and such but if you put the pp kit on this car with the reinhart supercharger it will spank these little boy toys

  • lmfao i love it. i would like to do that with my marquis !

  • lol the grand marquis is a great car...i dont think kellie has ever driven one if she thought it was gonna flip over lol...center of gravity is great on vics and marquis if you throw some sway bars on em the cars become really fun drifting machines..slow but still fun

  • Need an interview with that guy.

  • First of all, it's a SIX-PASSENGER Grand Marquis. Second of all, you can laugh all you want, but the trembling old woman is still in front of you.

  • "I'm afraid it's gonna flip!" wow lady, don't freak out, it's a Grand Marquis, not a school bus. I wanna take my 01 Town Car to a track and see what she can do. I already race her around my town, but not like this.

  • I need to know whare this track is so i can do this with my 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. I could do so better Drift that mother fucker.

  • are you racing to the early bird special?

  • my 1984 maquis has a 351 and handles about the same. i know why they call them a "boat"

  • furst you nearly runi him off the road then you dont pass when he lets you then you make fun hes just havin fun thats all who gives a shit what you and the dumb bitch think

  • I love american cars because it has a excellent V8 engine sound

  • put a fucking sway bar on it and it'

    ll do bomb

  • just need some sway bars to reign in that bodyroll holy crap was that thing leaning leaned just like my 86 towncar

  • haha go grandmaaa now thats wat u call old school

  • @3991c one that was a vic two he was tought by a police officer who is his dad and roush

  • that is a 8 sec crown vic not a marquis. also it a 22 year old driven i should know seeing as it my boyfriend whos driven and it his pride and joy, that he mods on a regular base.

  • @hhawker86 the car in this video? i swear i see a mercury emnblem on trunk, and merc tail lights. same car as the vic, for the msot part though. hell, maybe i AM mistaken, i sear though i seea merc emblem

  • @yamahonkawazuki he put a merc trunk on it at the time becuase he liked the trunk and the light but its vic.

  • @hhawker86 Ehh i cant confirm nor deny that. so ill take that as fact.:) eithr way still a kickass run. will have to take my CVPI out there some time

  • Comment removed

  • @yamahonkawazuki Its a merc! ppl dont know what they are talking about!

  • barber motorsports park in Leeds AL never knew thay made standard shift marquis....

  • Yea awsome video and great driver in the merc. He had it filled with passengers and was still man handling that heavy ass car around the track

  • This is awsome. What balls. I'd be far too chicken to drive one of these cars like that.

  • that's awesome, he's really movin' that monster around. what a fantastic video.

  • no drivin ass

  • This video is full of WIN.

  • Long live the lumbering beasts!

  • HOE!?! Sweet... where is this place? I'll take my MERC there....

  • Hahaha this is awesome! I don't dare to take any fast corner with my own Grand Marquis, this driver must be very skilled!

Real fun to watch! Thanks for uploading =)

  • lol ok, you pass him at the end of the video...thank god lol nvm my first comment

  • lmao damn, i know your doin this for youtube, but DAMN CAN I PASS HIM FOR YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE??? LOL

  • He swangin that big ass wide frame 'round ' that coner.lol good shit

  • My Crown Vic is bad ass on the track. look up "Joe Williams" here on this site if you want to see some good driving w Crowns!

  • i drive an 08 LT model out here in Saudi and its HILLARIOUS to watch it on a track like that! hahaha just BRILLIANT!

  • Well the grand marqis is the best riding best looking car thats ever been on that track.

  • @Lumotaku

Thats for damn sure, all you need is a 50mm antiswaybar and it will be like the police crown vics. It would handle much nicer

  • @Lumotaku So true

  • what track?

  • it says in the info its Barber Motorsports park

lmao this vid made my day!

  • I paid 18K off the lot new for my 2008 Grand Marquis GS, who knew it was a sports/race car as well as an economy car with 29 MPG highway.

  • That is awesome!!!! lol

  • That was really good driving considering. I don't think most people could compensate for how much these understeer. I have a P71 Interceptor which would have done a little better and held those turns a lot better, but not bad. lol

  • Frumpy old car my ass.

  • It is actually very unlikely to rollover, being how wide it is. It just leans a lot because they do not get a sway bar out back.

  • @Colt45lc i agree plus all the weight of the passengers weighing down.

  • poor rental car! Great driving!

  • the description is wrong. its a 6 seater car! though only has 4 in it. i would love to do this in my grand marquis!

  • grand marquis's are perfect for cruising around but race cars? no. Id still take one over a ricer, i use one as my daily driver and its actually good on gas for a big car

  • I Have a Grand Marquis, I need to drive it on a track!

  • And film it...

  • THEY ROCK!

  • looks like someone needs a set of adco swaybars...

  • This must of been his first lap.

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk soo funny! crazy driver!

  • he almost beat the ABS

  • I am SO doing this when I get my license next month!!

  • just had a rental 2008 marquis.. pretty nice.. i know not the fastest. but god damn that thing has alot of torque.. pushing the pedal at 60 mph it keeps going and going and going.. and the sound is just LOVELY.. too bad they are single exhaust

  • actually, there's a package mercury offered for that car that included dual exhaust, and aprox 240 rwhp, it sounds awesome, its a REALLY nice car, i had a 1997 grand marquis w'dual exhaust, it sounds beautiful...but if you can drive one of those, do it

  • Plus... I think another package, if not the same one you're talking about, offered 3.55 rear-end gears versus the standard 2.73. That's should help the acceleration quite a bit along with the dual exhaust. I just bought a 2001 Marquis LS recently and I'm thinking about doing both of those mods at some point.

  • that sounds nice, after you've done that, why don't you upload a vid of your car?

  • crap

  • I told you to stop driving crazy when I fall a sleep.

Well don't you want to get to bingo ontime .

    Okay good night honey

  • looks like grandma and grandpa took a wrong turn on their way to the senior center. look at them shaking their fist at the crazy drivers... i swear i saw big white hair in the back seat. haha. just playin. looks like a ton of fun. check out my lincoln fun vid... i love those big cars.

  • i love the big ford vics marquis and towncars there like the last american fullsize v8 sedan around

  • GET"R"DONE & HAVING FUN!

It needs the Police Package. It might do better?

  • read the MotorTrend article stock vs police crown vics police one slower on the track.

  • because it weighs more

  • and has all season tires

  • one things for sure.. the driver definitly knows where the apex is and how to hit it perfectly...

seems a lil slow on the straightaway though.. its still got a 4.6 v8 good for almost 300 tq

  • I was thinking the same thing about the driver. I guess the driver can only do so much with a yacht, but his technique was very impressive.

  • I have a entire list of parts in my head that would have made that car WAY faster and better handling on that track..lol Fantastic video 5 stars And I faved it!

  • talk about body roll, my friend had one of these and if it didn't leak a quart of oil from the rear main ever 2 days and had broken seats and bad electronics it would have been pretty fast.

  • Lol, Nice

  • Haha! Nice!

  • Rednecks never saw a Grand Marquis before? Oh right, they see them all the time...in their rear view mirror.

  • what track?

  • amazing...absolutely fucking amazing! I have an 03 myself and I fucking love the car, I only wish I could drive like that especially with 4 passengers....damn

  • wow!! great handling for a car whit that dimensions and more impresive because that was the granny pack!! whit 4 people inside!! can you imagine the police pack??shit!!!

  • Why is it on the racetrack in the first place? lol :D

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA!!!!

  • nice

  • LOL my new fave 5 stars for sure. know i know im not the only oen to race a vic/marquis

  • haha, this is one of my all-time favorite YT videos. always good for a few laughs.

  • Hell yes. Four dudes with crash helmets having all kinds of fun

  • sounds like Cool Runnings...lol.

  • I've driven a Crown Vic before, they handle like an SUV, soft, feathery suspension that makes it bounce around and roll through corners. I guess the Mercury Grand Marquis is worth the extra money.

  • I had the police version... it handled almost as good as my mustang did. That thing would take a corner and make it its bitch!

  • i bet ur mustang couldnt take corners at all tho. cause mustangs are pussy

  • was it the granny pack or the police pack?

  • I don't know

  • Mercury vehicles have always been slightly better than fords, when Ford was making iron engines, Mercury's would be all aluminum, and revved higher so they'd be a bit more powerful. They'd also be geared better to give slightly better acceleration. Most Mercury's will have electronically adjustable suspension with the "comfort mode" the Crown Vic comes standard with along with the ability to stiffen it up. RIP Mercury Cougar!!! :(

  • lol mercurys are fords

  • They're Fords, but they're better, somewhere between Ford and Lincoln, mid luxury. They're generally better, more upscale interior, better suspension, a bit more powerful.

  • In this case there are no performance advantages this has to be a 06 or newer model a police would be more performance oriented the Mercury now days is just nicer options. This is a GS so its not even possible that it has the air suspension. Unfortunately Ford no longer gives Mercuries more HP or anything like that. It would be nice for them to start competing with Infiniti, Lexus and BMW as a sport luxury like they started off as. I'm still impressed a live axle 4,000lb car did this good.

  • man...that thing held-up very well....I'd like to see what a crown vic can do on that track....
