I beat this game in 3 days of nonstop cursing and yelling. It's really not that hard once you know how to deal with everything. Oh, and make sure you always use the knives. They're easily the best weapon in the game.

believe me when I say that this game is NOT as easy as it looks. I've conquered the first Castlevania, Contra, and even all three marios (NES Mario) and didn't look back. Man oh man, this mother fucking game LMAO! LOOOOOOOL! This is one of the hardest games I've ever played. To this day, I don't know if I've played a harder game (Might have played games as hard).

In my opinion this was the hardest NES game ever made. If it wasn't for the cheat codes, I would've never beaten this game. And then, all that work and the fucking endign was a slap in the face. I was so pissed when I beat this game I tossed the cartridge because the ending sucked! LMAO!

My aunt had this game when I was 6. The first intro when Arthur and the princess were chilling and relaxing until the lightning sky the, red flying beast and the music scared me to death. But I got used to it and played it. =)

I use to hate this game. Then after I finally.....FINALLY finished it, I started to grow fond of it. Now....I love it. I think this is many, if not most people's reaction to this game due to its UNBEARABLE, but eventually, bearable, but still over-the-top difficulty. Capcom is notorious for insanely difficult games.

well playing Ghost and goblins one million times means you beat it only 500,000 times cause you have to play the game twice to beat it once.

So you can say you have to beat it 2 million to beat it one million times.

I don't think they make games as difficult these days. I know sometimes it's very frustrating, but after u pass the game u feel a sense of accomplishment. Now days it seems like u can beat a game in 1-3days.(Sometimes even in a few hrs, ugh!) Publishers don't care, they just want u to buy more games right away. The PSP Ghosts 'n Goblins is hard but it's not fun. I believe this series plays best either in 8 or 16 bit graphics.

The only way I was able to beat it was using the Game Genie back in the day to give unlimited lives.

When i was a kid, around 10 years old, there was a scrawny kid who was very poor whos older brother drank rhum straight from the bottle at 11 years old.

The younger kid was about 7 years old, looked dirty and unkempt. People gave him quarters to play Ghost and goblins because he could pretty much get to the end in one game, and it was amazing and magical to watch this weird kid do this.

Maybe you should try the arcade version. I found it to be a bit more forgiving. If you have a PS2 (PS3 will work also) or PSP it's on the Capcom Classics collection... along with the other two games, which are even more difficult. Over 20 years later and I still can't beat Ghouls & Ghosts, maybe I'll try the Genesis version.
